The Capital Villa

This property is quite old compared to what else is around and the photos on the website are a little deceiving. The staff are friendly and helpful but the condition of the rooms especially the bathrooms were disappointing.

My family and I spent three nights,including Christmas eve and Christmas Day in the Capital Villas. Gloria, the Duty Manager, was exceptionally welcoming and helpful and went out of way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant, staying on after her shift had ended to make sure we left safely for the airport and to make sure that some young children in the swimming pool had all the time they wanted to swim on Christmas day.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The location, in the heart of Sandton, was very convenient for access to the airport and the shopping malls.
The Capital Villas offered excellent value for money and I will certainly stay there in future when back in Johannesburg.

Initially the apartment provided was way below expectation as was the interaction with the security staff. However, the reception staff the following morning were very accommodating and went out of there way to provide a better room. Keith was particularly professional and very pleasant. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly.

The capital Villa was great overall, the location is perfect as its close to Santon city and any party venue in Santon and surroundings. We booked a 2 bed room apartment which had everything you would need. Space is great as it has big kitchen and lounge with a balcony. It has two nice size beds rooms which both have their own baths and toilets. Downside is that we had less towels in the room so make sure you ask them for it before you check in. For the price it’s all you need.

When I arrived the back of the toilet was dirty and it did not get better. On 2 different days I watched the house keeping just mop the floors no sweeping or anything. I put a few things around the apartment to see if they would get touched. 3 weeks they never moved!! We had to call for toilet paper almost every day, house keeping would not leave any. Me and my spouse where botj regestered to the room but they would only leave one towel. No one was ever swimming in the pool. We went to look at it and there was a film on the top of the water. They just leave a filter hose in it. We asked about a late check out the day before was told if there where any problems with it they would let us know.. the day of check out we got a call that we would be charged if we didn't leave...so I guess there really was a problem... was not happy at all with the service and we will not be back.

The Capital Villa was a great place for for my family to stay, having 2 bedrooms, both with King beds, separated by a spacious living area with 2 full bathrooms. The kitchen was better than most self catering apartments with all the basics for a family of 4. Breakfast was available near reception. Security was good with the gate manned 24/7, although a con artist could probably get in without too much trouble. The receptionist was very professional and helpful.

On the downside, the apartments are surrounded by construction at the moment, making walking to the nearby Sandton Mall more difficult than usual and feel dangerous after dark. There are no backup generators, so we sat in the dark when the area lost power for a few hours as part of South Africa's load shedding.

Nice and spacious rooms however there was much building work and the single pane windows did little to dampen the noise. Only one (noisy) air conditioning unit and no TV in the bedroom was a disappointment. Everything just appeared “old” and in need of renovation. Location was good – very close to the shops and huge mall. Avoid “Block A” - many times security was either not by the entrance or did not notice cars arriving and cars would have to honk their horn to get attention so the security doors could be opened. Block A is right by the entrance ! If the rooms were updated, and sound-proofed the place would be excellent.

Very nice 2 BR apartment within walking distance of Nelson Mandela Mall and Gautrain Sandton Station. Lots of construction in the area, although walking is possible. Place seems to cater more to long-term stay or business visitors and staff hours are limited. However, it was a great deal for the price.

It was my first time to be in South Africa. I decided to book at the Villa Apartment for my stay! Oh, almighty God. I made the right choice -- Fortunately, I was treated as a family by everyone! I remember Kevin at the receptionist made all the plans for me and he has been very nice to make sure that I received the best customer service. Also, I have received great customer care by Gloria - she is the Housekeeping Executive and I was happy that she made me feel like a family. This hotel is located in the best location in Sandton area and very safe area... Shopping center, Nelson Mandela ShoppingSquare, etc... are walking distance. It takes me 7 minutes downtown Sandton Johannesburg with no need of taxi! Please be mindful that taxi cab in Johannesburg is the most expensive. If you can walk just walk so that way you get to know the area very well!!! South Africa in Johannesburg is the best place to be for your journey. I had an amazing moment in my life during my stay in SA!!!!! Please book your hotel stay at Villa Apartment because the price is very affordable compare to Hilton, Holiday Inn and others. You actually have the same experience so I don't know why you would choose to pay $$$$$ for the same location. I decided to stay at the Villa Capital Apartment because it was the best choice that I made. I will go back again and thank you!

Excellent location, large property, fairly noise free even though in a CBD, gated complex, reception not around the clock, convenient shuttle service offered but timings are not accurate.
