History and painted interior walls, a desert courtyard on approach is the best thing about this old fort hotel. There’s a decorative palace and hotel cafe buildings within walking distance worth a visit. There is a bar that serves canned beer, wine and spirits, bar man was welcoming and gave good service, lovely decorative interior, a pleasant experience.
Don’t come here for luxury as the photos are several years old and not how it is today, black stained stonework and tired decor. They 'upgraded' us to a turret room which was basic but comfortable, we didn’t see any luxurious rooms or four poster beds. Our room was not cleaned on second day, no fresh towels (towels we got from reception were dirty) and they tried to charge us for room water which we objected. Heater in room was sparking and melted at the socket so they replaced it with a 1970’s filament heater which was sufficient.
Breakfast had a sufficient variety, fresh cooked eggs and fruit. Evening meals were of good quality and service was ok and friendly except on observing them they had very poor hygiene practices (food arrives from kitchen to a service table, then arranged before serving to table, bread handled unnecessarily 7 times in front of us). Online Communication may be a problem - they had not seen our reservation prior to arrival so we had to email it to them. I had messaged prior to arrival re dietary needs (requested no alternative milk and no onion meal if possible), but they couldn’t / didn’t accommodate this even when asked at the hotel. A small improvement in management of cleanliness and hygiene will make a large difference to this hotel and its standards. On our first day, standards were poor across the hotel, then a VIP visited on the second day and standards were significantly improved across every area - it’s a pity they could not be consistent! Swimming pool is a huge decorative pigeon bath, not possible to swim, such a disappointment as it once looked beautiful - the photos give an expectation that will not be met. Town is busy, a lot of fires and rubbish on streets and many people hassle you to buy. With a little effort Mandawa and this hotel could be a great holiday destination. Noise outside - processions, drumming and dogs - all at 6am might not be for everyone.
Location, kindness of the whole staff, food were all optimal. Also, the Castle is beautiful and grand, also worth a visit on its own.
Could not get hot water in my room , the swimming pool is not viable for western tourists and the AC system is very old and uncomfortable.
Only the city and the havelis
Most inhospitable property ever, it was pretty clear that this place does not care about the guest.
The place was untidy..
I would suggest people should check out other Haveli's as you would have better cultural experience and hospitality there.
Only the property.
Food is over expensive. Rooms were ok types
The breakfast was good and sumptuous and so was the lunch and dinner. All of us had a great experience during our stay in the property and wished we could a little more of our time. Of course, there is always a next time.
Every thing was as per our expectation so far as the property is concerned. I only wish that Castle Mandawa Haveli produces a small printed booklet highlighting the historical background of Mandawa in general and the Castle in particular. This will add to the value of our stay in the property.
Location is good for Amanda and room was good too.
I have booked for 4 person but voucher was reflecting only 2 adults+1 kid, they have charged 2000 Rs extra for one kid.
the property is beautiful
cleanliness and hygience is poor.
the rooms are dilapidated
requires urgent renovation
Beautiful heritage fort property in the middle of Mandawa town. Very well maintained with spacious and comfortable rooms. Pool area is awesome. Loved the interiors of restaurant and the coffee shop. Good food and courteous staff. Excellent property to explore Shekhawati Rajasthan.
They gave us an upgrade to the Suite. Very considerate of them. It was awesome
