It was noisy.. Of the 7 nights i stay there, around 3 to 4 morning i was woken up by either the traffic below or by the cleaning staff who was walking outside and they talk quite loudly. However the location was quite good and is convinent.
One block from rue de pasteur where there are many restaurants and hangouts (if you like bars etc) Reasonably quiet surrounds. As always get an upper floor if you can for more peace.
OK central hotel
Nothing was too much trouble for the helpful staff. Cambodia is a very poor and undeveloped place. To achieve the level of comfort they did is very commendable.
WiFi-great, not the case everywhere
Air con and in-room safe also good! -again don’t underestimate how many get this wrong.
The staff were amazing, warned me immediately of local pitfalls and behaviour to be aware of.
Thank you!!!
Cool rooftop bar, great period decor, but still modern and clean.the street it is located on is a little run down-but just typical of Phnom Penh from what I could see.
It is very well placed to visit the Riverside tourist and nightlife areas-1 or 2 dollar tuk tuk got me everywhere I needed to go.
Mall very short walk.
In the interest of balance-the one negative was the shower wasn’t piping hot, but in an average heat well over 30-Luke warm fit the bill very nicely.
Except there were lots of mosquitoes flying around in my room when I checked in, everything else is great. Location is central, mattress is so comfortable, room deco is so nice, and bathroom is clean too.
We were happy with the stay. Hotel location to the central market, Royal Palace and Preah Sisowath Quay are within one mile. Staff are friendly and helpfull.
spacious room, hotel was located in a quiet street and just 5 minute walk from street 51 which gives you easy acess to the bars/clubs and restaurants that are open late :-)
Really happy with our stay here. Room
Is clean and comfy. Staff are lovely. Breakfast is good and hotel is in decent location (10 min walk to riverside)
Only thing hotel needs is a pool.
This was a good room for that price. The bed was soft, and perfect pillows. Looks like they have invested in sleeping comfort. The the shower was powerful enough and overall the room really appeared in a good shape. Was really a nice place to stay. Outside the hotel it was not so impressive. Had different construction shops for the locals. But with that said, there are trikes outside who takes you to Riverside or nearby for 2$ and it is only a 4 minutes drive, so that made up for the non tourist attraction outside the hotel . The service from the staff was nice as well, so all in all a good place to stay in Phnom Phen
The hotels location was okay and not too far from some of the sights. Room was basic, but clean. Unfortunately we were just below the restaurant and next to the lift so it was noisy in the mornings. Breakfast was included and okay when there was some available! Often the buffet was depleted or empty however.
I enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff and their tuk tuk drivers were all good, and spoke English. In fact this was my return visit to this hotel. The breakfast room on the 7th floor has a wonderful view. The 8th floor has just opened a lounge with nice relaxing music, a romantic roof view and great and varied drinks, cocktails with not too high a price. I like that the AC is always adequate, its quiet at night, the blackout curtains work well and the shower water is always hot, and plentiful. Wi-Fi in the room works well. The lobby also has computers free for use. There's an elevator. Now that's comfort in a clean, attractive, boutique hotel.
This hotel had wonderful front desk staff. That said, their cleaning staff was so loud, talking on walkie talkies and pounding around rooms. Avoid this place if you are an international traveler and want some rest during the day. My room also had a problem with the entire bathroom. The shower was in a raised corner of the room and the shower stall would fill up with water. After that it'd leak through a crack and flood the entire bathroom. Not only that, the drain on the other side of the room was clogged so the bathroom would just continue to fill up with water and never drain. Not only this, but the room was absolutely tiny. The smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in without exception. You can do much better for your money elsewhere.
I had a very positive impression of my staying in this hotel. Staff friendly and helpfull, rooms quiet nice, room cleaning very good. Even the guards for the parking very helpfull. Onlyblittele problem was the noise during daytime due to construction works at the terrace.
Mondulkiri is on a quiet street right near the Sorya Mall and the night life scene, even though there is construction right beside the property you didn't hear noise at all.
It's my second stay there and I'll go back again for sure. The breakfast buffet is not so good, but location, cleanliness and quiet are worth it.
We really liked the Mondulkiri Boutique Hotel. It is a charming little hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. The room was spacious and comfortable and everything worked fine. The a/c was run by remote control and also an unmarked wall switch, part of a bank of three that also controlled a light and fan in the bathroom, so that was a bit tricky to get the hang of. Included breakfast was passable, not much selection and pretty basic, but fine, and the staff there made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The front desk staff arranged a tour for us. They have their own tuk tuk driver who took us to the Killing Fields, the Tuol Sleng Prison museum and the Russian Market for a very reasonable rate, which included his waiting for us at each stop for as long as we wanted. We took considerable time at both the Killing Fields and the market, where we went to a restaurant for a meal but the driver didn't complain or seem at all put out, and seemed very pleased with the modest tip I gave him. The staff also arranged our bus trip from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, which was trickier than normal because it was the start of Cambodian New Year, and several buses were sold out. The woman at the desk called around and finally found us seats on a bus. We felt really well taken care of while staying at the Mondulkiri, and will always remember it fondly. The immediate neighborhood is a bit rough, but that could be said for most of the city.
When I checked in, I asked one single bed. They gave a really tine roofed room. I couldn't stay there, I asked once more. They gave a little big twin bed room, but ref doesn't work. Water didn't sink we'll in the bathtub. Air conditioner was very weak, so too hot on the room.
Very decent hotel in the price range, although I had a problem when checking in. They couldn’t find my reservation and I was waiting for at least 15 minutes. Once I checked in my room and bathroom were very small and had an intense smell of air freshener which I couldn’t really stand. There was also no wi-fi connection in the room, which was the main issue. They did try to rectify the problem with the internet but I insisted to change the room and it took a lot of hassle. In the end a reception manager or whoever the girl was helped to move to another room, which was MUCH BETTER. Decent size room with a bathroom, that didn’t feel claustrophobic. One more thing I’d like to mention is breakfast: very limited choice and staff working on the breakfast shift need some training! The service was just appalling. Overall is a nice hotel if you’re lucky with a room and there’s a small gym on the top floor, which I thought was very nice.
The hotel is fine, nothing special, but fine, and ok for the money. Internet is good, bathrooms fine, breakfast best avoided - no complaints much once you get there, at least for the money. But is is not even remotely where it's supposed to be. All the maps on their website, on hotels.com, expedia and google are wrong. It's the right street (178) but another 15 minutes walk away from the river. the surrounding area is pretty decrepid, dusty and not any fun to walk around. it definitely gave us a bit of a dingy first impression of phnom penh, which is actually pretty lovely if you stay in one of the nicer areas.
decent hotel but there was always a situation of confusion happening in the lobby. the front desk had communication errors not only with my group but it seems like with every other guest that came in. first we were escorted to a room that the attendee had just escorted other travelers to. he used his master key to just give us the room next door instead. the in-room massage listed on the menu of hotel services is actually a s3x service not a relaxing rub down. spent 3 nights here and every chat we had with the staff was a bit exhausting. the wifi does not work in rooms on smart phones. in saying all that, it was a clean hotel, relatively close to everything in phnom penh, at a good price.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were really helpful and made us feel most welcome. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.
