Breakfast was very poor
It felt like we could be anywhere in the world- fabulous surroundings and rural views, great room that allowed us to just escape & a great experience at the restaurant and bar- a real pleasure!
We had a fan on for the duration of our visit to boost the air conditioning, but that wasn’t a problem- and it would have been nice to try to Thai restaurant, but we’d known it wouldn’t be open on the nights we were staying, so not a complaint- nothing I could criticise at all, we’ll be back!
Met up with some life long friends for Sunday Lunch. It was a Sunday with live Jazz in the restaurant, although this was more easy listening staples on this day. The Sunday Lunch menu is great, food was well presented and well cooked, great flavour. Service was excellent, friendly helpful staff. Great Atmosphere for a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
We stayed at Crazy Bear for two nights with friends. The grounds themselves are beautiful; however, the rooms were outdated and we experienced issues during our stay.
The rooms we were given were tiny, dark, and did not feel luxurious at all. The air conditioning units were extremely loud, which made it difficult to sleep. We also had problems with the showers that were not resolved, even after reporting them.
Perhaps the experience is better if you are upgraded to a different room category, but for the price we paid, the stay was very disappointing.
It's a real treat

Stadhampton
I stay there for work and every time I ask for a invoice and they promise they will send it and it never arrives
Great location and the grounds were very nice as were some parts of the hotel itself.
Very expensive for what it is, the room was very ‘tired’ needs a make over, the fixtures and fittings just very old etc. Two major issues for me:
1. The staff - not attentive, very lax in their attitude, and the service was generally poor. Example was our dinner in the Thai restaurant, we waited almost 45 mins for our cocktails at the end and even then the order was wrong. Trying to get the attention of the staff was virtually impossible. When you’re paying almost £400 for one night accommodation, I would expect more !
2. The fire alarm went off continuously on and off for about 15 minutes on the Sunday morning, starting at 07:30, ruined any chance of a lay in. I had to ring reception to find out what was happening, no apology, just told me they were aware there was a problem. When checking out, mentioned this again to the reception staff, who said he would pass my msg onto management. I’ve heard nothing back?!?
Parts were good…
The room isn’t on the main site… you walk down the road away from the crazy bear, around the corner, down the lane, into a small residual cluster of houses (over some gravel - great for dragged a suitcase). You have a room in a big standard dull building. Feels like a HMO to be honest…
Qwerky. Staff were lovely and very attentive.
The bathroom smelt strange 🤢
the rooms were very different, it was certainly a talking point. was nice to have robes in the room also
the bed were very uncomfortable. the room was dark like a dungeon. the window in the room didn't close and we were woken up first thing as we could hear people in the court yard. the blind was broken for the window so the light came in at the crack of dawn. there was an extension lead in there and loads of wires about but not enough plugs close to the bed. the dinner the night before was awful, ended up paying £50 for 2 people to have a 'finger buffet' and all we got was 1 chicken wing each and a couple of spring rolls and samosa
Quirky and spotless. Staff were great and attentive. Food is incredible.
It was very quirky
We paid a high amount for a two night stay and was in a room which wasn’t very big and was lacking facilities that you would expect in a hotel room.
