Two people checked in, but there was only one face towel and washcloth. Other amenities for only one person. No sign for Howard Johnson, only recognized by street number. New name Capri Motel. My Expedia reservation was not in their system. Things worked out, but definitely not what we expected in terms of standard of service.
The place is maintained and run well enough. But the walls are paper thin (like you can hear the tv in the next room very clearly), the mattress is thin, the parking access is cramped.
This is the best place to stay in Bay Area. It's quiet, clean, close to everything, including family & friends. They are the nicest people. It is VERY sad that it is closing in January.
Clean. Friendly staff. 5min walk to train station and easy train ride yo San Fran. 30 minute walk to university. Bus stop right outside hotel - easy bus ride to university. 15 minute walk to downtown Berkeley. I’ve stayed here twice and the area is safe. Would definitely stay again.
The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Beyond that, not much to recommend it. Bathroom door did not fully close; fridge barely cold enough; smoke detector covered with plastic(!!); furnishings pretty beat up.
Room was very clean, quiet and reasonably priced.
The check-in process was very easy.
The location is great with tremendous access to public transportation (BART/buses)!
I would stay here again in the future when visiting the UC & Berkeley area.

One night. Fit the purpose
A car was broken into.
Everything in this motel was good. A lot of food options in the area. Had good ammentities such as laundry. The staff was great. They were easy to talk to. I would give this location 9/10 mainly because it wasnt ready when i arrived early and ive wouldve paid an early fee to check in

It was because my daughter is in the hospital so we were just there to sleep
Cold environment, no safe gates for the cars, sketchy neighborhood that felt unsafe
Convenient, close to University and reasonable price.
Location was perfect for my short visit to the area. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. Only drawback was the traffic made it difficult to get out of the parking lot during rush hour.
Good location. Comfortable beds. Breakfast was terrible and we skipped it.
I like the fact that they have free parking. Also, the receptionist was very attentive to our needs.
Found dirty shorts in one of the drawers. Had to ask for basic necessities since it was not found in the room. Basic toiletries, I.e. shampoo, soap, etc. Room smelled badly. Parking was incredibly tight. It was not a good experience at all.
Good location, friendly reception staff, clean rooms and parking available on premises for no additional fee.

People next to us were talking loud till 1am however the stay was great
