Very comfortable and within walking distance to beaches and restaurants.
Pros:

Room was very spacious for a delux, while the bed was very comfortable. The property itself is very close to everything in town.

Sebel Byron In desperate need of renovation and redecorating.
Pros:

Location. Walk to everything. Close to restaurants. Polite helpful staff. Clean linen and towels.

Cons:

The building is in absolute disrepair. Everything is so tired and shabby. Needs a complete renovation. Totally over priced for that standard of accommodation. We recently stayed at Oaks Santai Casuarina and also Peppers Kingscliff. They can't compare. They were 10 times better and a lot cheaper. We feel totally ripped off.

Cons:

The only issue I really had while staying there was that there was a smell in the elevator and in the parking structure that smelt like sewage. Now I'm a nurse and I deal with some really intense smells and it was really hard to stomach going into that parking structure and in the elevator the days I was there. I'm not sure if that's a typical thing or if they're experiencing some plumbing issues, but I think it should be mentioned in the off chance that that smell is something that will be there when you're there, at least you can be prepared. It wouldn't keep me from going back.

Great Location, great place to stay as close to everything in centre
Pros:

Great location, walking distance to all shops, cafes and restaurant, car is not needed here. Great to park also in the parking station for free, great benefit as all street parking cost money in Byron.

Good location, honestly just think we got given the worst room.
Pros:

Very good location, easy to walk pretty much anywhere you want to. The bed was comfortable, which is always a bonus. That’s about it.

Cons:

The photos displayed on the booking did not match photos of the actual room we stayed in. The room itself was tucked in the middle of the complex and was confusing to find at first. We stayed in 5b which was actually located behind a keyed door labeled 5 (this would have been helpful to know at check in). It was also very heavy and had to be held open while you unlocked the other door to the actual room. The curtains were falling off the rails, the carpet was lifting in certain areas, and it was honestly a very dark room. The shower leaked a good amount after every shower and would only get to a lukewarm temperature no matter how long we had it running. The bathtub had obviously had a previous leak as tiles were removed from the base and the wall separating it from the bedroom and the surrounding carpet had obvious water damage (I forgot to take a picture of this). I think there should have been better clarification as to what the room was like, as I feel the price was not justified for what we got, considering the other photos that are listed when booking.

Too expensive for the level of comfort. The main advantage is location.
Pros:

Great location, exactly where we needed.

Cons:

For the 5-star hotel price tag, the room was very average - very small fridge (which was also smelly), very limited cooking gear and crockery. Noisy building - waking up with doors slamming in the early morning. We didn't have a good sleep during 9 nights that we stayed.

Would not recommend - nothing like the usual Sebel hotels.
Pros:

Only clear plus about this property is the location. Bang smack in the middle of town.

Cons:

The advertisement of the facility is misleading and doesn’t show how worn down this hotel is. I have stayed at other Sebel’s previously with a much higher all round standard so expected the same. The property is very budget and needs a thorough going over. We had the Queen Superior - nothing superior about it. Tiles missing from the bathroom. It’s pretty basic and not value for money paid at all. The tropical rains came when we were there and the flooding in the basement carpark created stench from wastewater overflowing in the basement coming up through the elevators was overwhelming. The staff are clearly overworked and take a lot of flack - they try their best to be nice but clearly need better investment from their owners to make their life easier. Definitely won’t be returning.
