This place is the perfect spot for a weekend away and a escape from the hustle and bustle. The cottages are unique, peaceful and inviting. We really appreciated the small details and the thought put in place for guests, from the welcome note, the bug spray, board/card games, and the two love sloths that greet you. Despite being on a main road you would never know, it is serene and you can enjoy the sounds of the birds and rainforest. You can also walk to the famous look out. We loved the two local turkeys on site who greet you and follow you to your car. We will absolutely come back to this accomodation. Perhaps the only fault I could consider is I don’t think children are allowed to stay, which is a huge loss given it’s such a beautiful site and families would love to stay, but I understand their reasons for wanting this also in that it is a retreat. But I could be wrong. Thankyou for a wonderful weekend.
We recently booked the old English cottage for two nights as a quick getaway before our son is born, we arrived around 3pm after exploring the area prior, at first glance the place was quite cute but as we'd had a busy morning we sat on the couch and relaxed watching TV for a while, at around 5 or 6 pm we decided to get some dinner to enjoy back at the cottage, after dinner around 8 or 9 pm my partner wanted to enjoy a spa bath, once in the spa bath (which had a little card next to it stating it had been specially cleaned and sanitised prior to our booking) and turning the jets on we noticed a huge amount of brown chunky matter coming from them, we turned them off and the bath was full of unidentified brown chunks, my partner immediately exited the bath at this point, by this time it was getting a little cool inside the cottage so we turned on the AC unit for some heat, there was very little air coming out if the unit so I checked the filters to find them completely black and blocked like I've never seen before, I proceeded to wash them out in the bath so we could use the unit in reverse cycle, as we had spent the majority of the time till this point relaxing it wasn't till we found these 2 issues I actually had a better look around, there were spider webs on most of the decor, a thick layer of dust on the metal rail of the bed head, a layer of spider Web above the lounge room unit, webs with insects caught in them in the toilet area, at this stage my partner and I were really quite shocked and upset at the fact we'd paid close to $600 for this booking and it was in such a state of uncleanliness, we then decided to pull back the sheets on the bed to find stains on the duvet on the inside at rhe top, we then decided we didn't want to stay the night and contacted the owner to le them know we wouldn't be staying and we'd like a refund, the owner was quite understanding at first and after a couple of messages she stated she would speak to her cleaning team in the morning and get back to us, at around 10am the following morning we messaged the owner to chase up a refund, there was no contact at all and later that afternoon(once we'd booked other accommodation to continue our stay) we made contact once again and informed her that we would be forced to contact air b and b to pursue, after a call with a very helpful person from air b and b almost immediately the owner responded and was somewhat polite and said she would refund our money, shortly after that air b and b also refunded their fees also, we have since left a review on air b and b only stating what we were dealing with only to have the owner retaliate with false accusations, she stated we stayed for 7 hours which is true and also stated we used several amenities while there such as the welcome pack which I opened upon arrival and did eat a small chocolate bar, she also stated we used the fire place and the bed which is false, the fire place still had some ash inside from previous people, she stated we tampered with the AC unit which is false, we decided to use the AC for heat rather than the fireplace as there were 3 pieces of fire wood in the basket and for additional wood was at a cost of $25 per bag 🤣 we had actually joked about travelling back to my partners parents place to get our own wood rather than pay that amount, as mentioned previously it was at this stage we noticed something wrong with the AC which led to finding the dirty filters, we also used two cups while there, do not stay here, the owner is rude and will try to write you off in a review and there are far nicer places to stay cheaper and cleaner
My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful little cottage, very homely with everything you need. Amazing breakfast food provided. Complimentary bottle of wine. 2 free wine tastings at Witches Falls winery which was so nice coz the weather was perfect. Will definitely recommend this place to all our friends and also will return.
Just returned from a weekend in the Gamekeeper Cottage. Absolutely perfect. Beautifully appointed with quality furnishings and scrupulously clean. Plenty of firewood for the fireplace. Enjoyed being able to take in the established gardens from the verandah.
I took myself away for the weekend. It was everything I wanted - quiet, double spa, fire place, great food, great service. I also lashed out on a 2hr Serenity Package at the day spa. Absolute bliss! The weekend was perfect. Highly recommended
I was disappointed that the accommodation was away from the carpark which meant had to go back and forth many trips over rocks with luggage. The kitchen facilities were crowded. The bath tub/shower was deep and a small seat was provided to 'climb into' the shower. Always felt like I was able to have a fall. There was no netflix and there were options to access dvd's from reception, but not ideal. There was no view.
On the positive side the ambience was charming and decore nostalgic. The baked breads were divine.
Enjoyed two nights in a premium gable cottage with lovely outlook to the trees & garden. Quaint English decor, clean & quiet. Open fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom, & electric blanket on bed in loft. So comfortable. Friendly staff.
Nice private getaway.
Thinking of going to Mount Tamborine for peace and tranquility? Go no further than Lisson Grove. From the moment we were greeted so warmly by Cheryl and Nic, I knew that I had made the right decision. This beautiful property has a selection of stunningly different cottages set in lovely gardens and includes an amazing castle. The. hospitality offered to us was first class, the cottage warm and cosy with a fire set for the evening. It was such a relaxing few days, I did not want to leave. I have booked to go back every 3 months so we can enjoy once again this delightful place. Choose Lisson Grove and I know you will feel the same way I do. It is very special.
A breakfast platter of bacon, sausages, eggs, mushrooms and tomato was left in the fridge for us to cook ourselves for breakfast.
Peaceful and quiet, so good you wont even want to leave to explore the local area. Our little cottage had everything we needed and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I hope one day we can return, made such amazing memories here.
We stayed in the little Irish themed cottage for 2 nights. Cheryl, our host, goes all out to provide a relaxing and unique stay. Yummy breakfast supplies plus a surprise each morning of croissants or fresh bread and juice delivered to the door. Like staying in a cute village with each cottage different and pretty. Loved it!!
On arrival we were surprisingly upgraded to The Gamekeepers Cottage and what a wonderful surprise it was. A large very comfy cottage with a well equipped kitchen, divine bathroom with a huge spa. The bedroom was decorated with antique furnishings and the lovely veranda was perfect sit and enjoy an early morning coffee or an evening drink was very spacious. The grounds are just beautiful to walk around. Thank Christy from The Day Spa for a lovely relaxing massage (onsite). A big thank you to Cheryl for making our stay a most memorable and relaxing holiday. We certainly hope to return to this little piece of paradise.
My beautiful wife of 46 years and I had a wonderful 2-night stay at Lisson Grove. We stayed in the Gables, the presentation of this Cottage was old style and very comfortable and quiet, as was the surrounds.
We were greeted by our Host Nicholas and he showed us an old-style welcome, nothing was too much trouble and he pointed us in the direction of a wonderful Restaurant Belvedere(Italian), Nicholas even made a reservation for us.
Breakfast was supplied and allowed us to enjoy it at our leisure with fresh OJ and croissants.
Our cottage was comfortable and cozy with the bedroom aloft the living quarters.
Very clean and tidy and would not hesitate to return or recommend to friends.
Further our other host Cheryl was wonderful during our 2-day/night stay.
The service and other Staff were excellent.
Arrived late arvo, buzzed Cheryl and after checking in she walked us to the Gamekeepers cottage. Its a longish walk and due to the rough stone path one must carry ones luggage.I shudder to think how the really elderly could possibly manage this and cant imagine why a smooth pathway or trolley contraption are not offered as solutions. The cottage itself could be comparatively described as old world/ needs a reno- cosy/dark charming/dated- no mod cons such as dishwasher and the bed generously described as King...smallest king ive seen.Difficult to see in the gloom but cottage appeared clean with ample facilities.Luckily we had been told by the son that the tap water was from catchment- as was evident by the murky dark brown colour once the spa was filled up- my husband in water industry assured me it was ok however this should be made clear in initial bookings as one felt uneasy even drinking the water when boiled.
Not wanting to drink, alcohol, and drive is another issue as there appears to be 1 taxi and 1 possible uber on the mountain- so it took 1 hour for a booked taxi to arrive to take us to our restaurant-a shame there are not other alternatives.Breakfast ample- cook and clean up yourself though and warm bread yummy. The award certificates in office are dated, and recent nominations are disingenuous. The whole place needs $$$ for refurbishment and renovation. If I had paid 3 star prices I might have considered it good value- but 5 star dreaming!
My partner and I just enjoyed a wonderful 3 night holiday at this beautiful little spot. From the initial welcoming greeting by the guinea fowls and Cheryl's warm hospitality we were immersed into a world of peace and tranquility. If you need an escape from the hustle and bustle this is the place to go. The lovely old world charm of our cottage complimented that feeling and I spent hours lying on the couch and looking at all the magnificent trees and listening to the birds. The highlight of our stay was the morning delivery of hot bread or croissants to our cottage. The staff were always polite and willing to assist with anything required. The cottage was spotless and everything was available if you wanted to cook although with all the magnificent places to eat on Tamborine we were spoilt for choice. We will definitely be back to enjoy the delight of the cosy log fire in winter.
Great atmosphere around the place. The lodge we stayed in was clean. Friendly staff. And we took advantage of the day spa which was awesome. It had a nice relaxing feel to it.
The cutest little village with each dwelling unique and charming. Lovely gardens and three adorable guinea fowl who love to hang out with the cats on the parking area.
We stayed here for the Groupon price of three nights for price of two. Two nights were more than enough! Our host, Cheryl had a passive aggressive manner from the outset - reminding me (unnecessarily) on the telephone that “you are getting a really good price you know?”. I suspect merchandisers offer Groupon vouchers to fill vacancies in their less popular booking times and to create ‘word of mouth’ advertising - which is free to them and thus invaluable. Sometimes, unfortunately I’ve found Groupon opportunities cover places which need a burst of business when such has ‘dried up’. Well here is my word of mouth ......
I suspect we were given one of the cottages not refurbished (if others are already - I wouldn’t know), because we were met with a dark, dingy, run down place accessed from a thickly gravelled driveway which made dragging wheeled suitcases from the car, impossible. Despite chimneys being fitted these days with spark inhibitors, we were told that due to fire restrictions on the mountain, we were not able to have an open fire. Why else would you undertake a “Winter Couples Getaway” if it wasn’t for the cosy fire to sit in front of! I’ve never heard of fire bans which include indoor fires and have subsequently checked this with a fire officer who says that he has never heard of an expectation like this. I suspect such a request was all about not having to clean the fireplace after us! Heating was provided by way of a dry air blow heater (similar to what is often used in a bathroom). We woke each morning with extremely dry eyes and mouths as a result. Heat was experienced only if you sat directly in the path of this heater. Furniture in the cottage was run down and uncomfortable with one armchair and a couch for ‘couples’ to utilise. The double bed left one with the dread of having to get up and stretch aching muscles, following a poor sleep in the same. Methinks it has long since hosted too many ‘couples’ and needs a new mattress. The place was clean and relatively dust-free despite the aged decor. Breakfasts were a delicious enticement - about the only positive thing about our stay. I believe some consistent attention to refurbishment both of facilities and the host’s demeanour need to be instituted if this establishment is to offer anywhere near the competition available in the couples getaway market today.
The property was a bit dated
The staff were excellent and very friendly
To describe the property as resort is a bit far fetched
Wifi was not very good
