Hôtel Première Classe Caen Nord - Mémorial

This was an overnight stop having travelled by ferry from Portsmouth earlier the same day.

I have stayed in a good many Premiere Classe motels over the years and this was by far the best one.

My only grip is that the check in closes at 9pm. Which for a motel close to a ferry port which has ferries arriving routinely at 10pm is frustrating. There is an machine for checking in late, this works but is time consuming and frustrating to use especially in the dark!

We stayed here to be near Ouistream ferry port.
Parking was easy, room basic but adequate for one night.
Lovely restaurant le Tablier 5 minutes walk away.

Served it’s purpose for an overnight stay between seeing Vimy and Juno Beach. It’s a no frills hotel.

Beds were a little uncomfortable for my friend.
But we loved the selection for breakfast.

Lovely clean property with friendly reception staff and nice quality beds and bedding.

Unfortunately there was a problem with the booking as it was showing on Expedia but not on the hotel’s system. Therefore we couldn’t have the 2 rooms one next to the other but they had to give us 2 rooms on 2 different floors.
In the toilet the only soap was the one in the shower.
A part from that all ok (we just stayed for 1 night)

Only disappointment was the breakfast. No croissants or pain au chocolate, just bread based offering. My wife's abdominal illness means that she can't eat bread.

It was clean, very reasonable price, quiet. There was a restaurant within 5 mins walk and it is in easy reach of the ferry terminal. A bit tucked away on a business park. Look out for the huge sign on the roof saying HOTEL.

Hotel and staff were welcoming. Bright fresh reception. Room was as expected, but ensuite was better than usual premier classe hotels we have stayed in. Breakfast was basic but plentiful.
Area around hotel was quiet. Eating places within walking distance.

Counter was available only till 2100 hours, which was a detriment as check-in closed then.

For the price we paid, absolutely no complaints to be given, room was clean and tidy and the staff member was very friendly.
Maybe should put on the website about the automatic check in, however, i probably should have looked at the door before we realised it was there

It was a nice hotel! Very clean. on the outskirts of Caen but there is a bus stop a couple of minutes away from it. However I would not recommend paying €6 for the breakfast. It is only bread and yogurt, definitely not worth €6 you could get much better for cheaper elsewhere. Other than that everything was great!

They gave us a handicapped room (even though we are not handicapped) and the worst thing is that the toilet didn't work for three days and we had to go to the bathroom in the lobby... terrible situation.

Got in hotel about 8oclo room was very clean and so was the bathroom had chat to the person booking in she was very nice left next morning early and one of the staff said good morning very friendly I would be very pleased to stay there again

Very basic hotel. Very basic breakfast but male staff not very helpful. Had a tiny bit of toilet paper in room and toilet not very clean. Would not stay there again or recommend to anyone.

We arrived after the reception was closed, which was ok since it's meant to be 24/7 and got a confirmation of this via email previously. Upon arrival, the automated machine wouldn't deliver the room card so I went inside and called the number for emergencies. After a few attempts and 30min wait, the hotel "receptionist" for emergencies was shouting from the window at me and asking 3 times if I used the machine, of which I had to repeat that it wasn't working. He was extremely rude and still charged me for city tax a 3rd time even though I already paid at the machine twice (which went through). Overall a stressful stay, appalling customer service and a place you should avoid.
