The hotel is located in a nice and well maintained garden and has frontal ocean views.
Staff is friendly, breakfast buffet is very nice for such a remote place on earth and meals are correct.
BUT... the rooms!
We got an overheated bungalow (no ocean view) with temperatures approaching those of a sauna. There is no airconditioning (which I can accept), but only fans. But if you pretend to be an eco-friendly and sustainable resort, why don't you build with the necessary insulation? Why do you keep the curtains of the floor to ceiling windows facing the sun wide open during the whole day? No AC but also no way to open the windows during the night, because they don't have fly screens. There is a mosquito-net over the bed, but is so short that my shanks and feet stretched out of the net. Although the nights were fresh outside, we perspired the whole night.
Upon entering the room we first had to chase wasps and other bugs. So definitely bring insect repellent spray with you.
The bed itself is so low and close to the floor, that I had to crawl on hands and feet to get into it. Quite comfortable...
The flooring of the shower is so slippery and life endangering that you have to hold the handrail.
Pretending to be aco-friendly, they ask not to let water run from the tap while teeth brushing, but if you want hot (or let's say tepid) water, it's necessary to let water flow for at least 15 minutes. Where is the logic?
WiFi only available at the reception. Most indecent is the price they dare to charge for this room: 429 USD!
Friends were staying at Hare Uta (close to the airport) and didn't encounter any of these problems.
What are you looking for? If it is peace and quiet with a fabulous view and lovely staff members then this is the place to stay on Rapa Nui.
Okay it is not perfect, the bathrooms could do with a bit of sprucing up and if you are desperate to keep in touch with the world then that really only works from reception, but why would you come to Rapa Nui then?
This has to be one of, if not the best, hotels we have ever stayed in, in terms of customer service. The ladyies who look after reception were unbelievably helpful and simply lovely people. Senora Pochado in the restaurant was good fun pochado is poached as in eggs) and the food for lunch and dinner was great - beware the Rapa Nui appear to eat enormous amounts, even the "non-sharing" plate were large enough to share.
It is incredibly quiet - it is about 1.5 miles away from Hanga Roa (you can walk there in about 40 minutes via the Tahai, lovely walk, and not be worried about being murdered or mugged, there is little crime on Rapa Nui).
The hotel has its own taxi service which is much cheaper than the "locals".
The Rapa Nui people are lovely, and this hotel is a great example of that.
Come here and chill, in Chile.
Fabulous place!
BEWARE! Wind knocks out their power and the island is windy. No power at the hotel equals cold showers, no restaurant because they can’t unfreeze their food. The hotel is one of the farthest away from the downtown area and all of the restaurants. So you pay for taxis. You are in a neighborhood where everyone owns roosters. They all start at 2am and crow every hour. No Wifi or TV’s in your room. We asked people, on our tours staying at downtown hotels, if they had TV’s and WiFi in their rooms. Yep. We asked if they had any power outages. Nope. Pick a downtown hotel. You will thank me.
The hotel as described was clean and comfortable we had a great time, only thing to add is no Wi-Fi the room
This place was perfect for us - out of town, quiet, great view, hotel restaurant with great food and excellent service. If you want to spend your time shopping then dont stay here but you'll miss a great experience. 10min walk to the coast and you can walk into town if you feel like it or get a taxi. Really good menu and great service so we at the hotel each night- really good cerviche. Our tours picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel.
Great hotel with excellent restaurant and staff. It’s about a 25 min walk to town along the coast, passing by Moai. Only addition would be screens in doors so you can leave them open at night for cooler air.
The hotel is about a 25 minute walk to town, but you can walk along the coast past a few different Moai so it's a very enjoyable walk. The property is really nice and the food at the restaurant was really good - we ate there two nights. Rooms were clean and my favorite was the outdoor shower. My only addition would be screens on the doors and windows so you could open them up at night. It gets very warm during the day and the rooms don't cool down, but its very cool at night and would have helped to have some fresh air in for sleeping
Assolutamente da evitare, l’Hotel non si è prodigato adeguatamente per risolvere il problema da loro stessi creato. E neppure Expedia, che si è rilevata una grande delusione. Li citerò entrambi per danni.
This is a friendly and nice hotel with separate bungalows. So each room is separated from the others, flowers between them. Clean, nice rooms with ocean view (though the ocean is not close). The restaurant serves tasty food and very good chilean wine. And two good things: no wifi in the room, just in the lobby + no tv. Just enjoy the island!
Just returned from an amazing stay in Rapa Nui. Altiplanico is a gorgeous property. Watched the sunset from our room overlooking the ocean. Roosters great the morning, though the hum of the fan in the room can drown them out if you need to sleep longer. Shower had good water pressure, and there's even an outdoor shower (though it was a little too chilly for us since we were there in winter). The restaurant has wonderful dinner options and the staff are incredibly helpful and kind. Hotel also has a breakfast buffet in the morning and has tea and water available throughout the day. Short walk to Ahu Tahai along with a couple other restaurants. Hanga Roa is a bit further of a walk but still doable. Highly recommend staying here.
Interesting. Eco freindly. Great staff
This remote, casita-style hotel with ocean view is pleasant. The spacious rooms w double sliding glass doors and grass terrace are comfortable enough. There isn’t air conditioning or heat, but Easter Island is fairly temperate. The restaurant offers a nice included breakfast and lunch and dinner are also available. We ate two of three dinners there. The food is really good and the server/bartender George was outstanding in his customer service.
A beautiful hotel on the outskirts of Hanga Roa with superb sunset views across the Pacific from our room and the restaurant bar area.
Our only issues with the hotel was the absence of internet/Wi-Fi in the bedrooms and the service from the staff. Fortunately we were ready to be very relaxed - patience was needed to get any service which was a bit of a shame as it was delightful to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine or a beer.
The Wi-Fi only covered the reception/dining room and was very poor. I can understand that the internet connection may be challenging given the location but the Wi-Fi is easy to sort out and would make life a lot easier for everyone.
Amazing hotel, with best customer service. The owner - Ema - and her family live on the premises, which ensures incredible service. One of my best experiences in South America. I would come back, just to stay here.
Had a great stay at Hotel Antiplanco Rapanui! I was truly impressed by the staff in reception that helped me so much and with things they did not have to do.
Thank you so much!
Really nice hotel a bit from city center.
Stayed recently with my family, Hotel itself was very nice and the staff were very accommodating. Was given a paper on checkin explaining the remoteness of the island and frequent power shortage and possible insect problems. That being said I would expect that more would be done to prevent these problems. First thing they must do is put air conditioners in all the rooms. It was so hot in the cabins that even opening the windows, at the risk of letting the bugs in, didn't cool the room. Nor did the small extra fans they provided. Now the bugs, walking at night on the property outside I saw so many roaches I was disgusted. The rooms were clean, we did find one dead roach in the bathroom in the morning but I would have hoped to see more efforts at prevention. I saw none. We also lost the water pressure one afternoon during our stay. After speaking with other tourists on the island, they had none of these problems. It's a beautiful property, I just feel that more can be done to make it better
Altiplanco is a few kilometres from town, but walkable, taxis or hire cars are an easy option. We spent 4 days on the island and had no issues with the accommodation.
The hotel is clean, with well cared for grounds and has an attentive staff. There are many poor reviews for this hotel online - which I believe to be unfair and incorrect.
Expect internet access to be limited due to the isolation of the island.
I will start off by saying that the views were amazing and the facility was beautiful but unclean. I have stayed many places but have never written a review about anything before. I had to write one about this place. Now that that has been said, I wish I can give this place negative stars. The food is overpriced and not that good. The first night we started off our trip by going for a hike and thinking, "it would be great to take a nice shower when we get back before going for dinner." Much to our surprise, there was no functioning water in the entire hotel. We went to complain and were told that "the water must have been cut" and would be repaired by the next morning. In a dismissive fashion, we were given a "jug" of water to shower with.
Aside from the water issue and not getting a partial refund for that (we asked and they did not oblige), the room was filled with bugs and lizards. There was some kind of bee that was in the window. The sheets had blood spots indicating the presence of bugs. We asked that the room be re-cleaned. The maid came and cleaned it but we had to wait in the lobby until almost midnight for it to be finished. We went back to our room and still spotted some bugs but it they were less prevalent and the sheets at least looked clean. I woke up with a bright red bite on my stomach (went through a slew of medical testing when I arrived back home) from only God knows what. The room was also hot and stuffy as there was no air conditioning.
Finally, the water was restored and we were able to shower. We were hesitant to eat anything on the resort after that (how would our food be prepared if the people preparing it could not wash their hands and follow proper sanitary practices).
Day 2, we were awakened to the sound of roosters which was kind of cool. Also, after the water came back, we dropped off laundry and asked for it to be done. Not only did we pay about $60USD, but we were promised that it would be done by the next morning. The next morning came and then it was the afternoon. The afternoon came and then it was the evening. The evening came and then it was the following morning. We did not get our laundry back until 20 minutes before we checked out because we had to ask them again and they spent another 20 minutes looking for it. The clothes had not been dry and many items were still soaked.
Back to night 2, on our way back to the room, the sidewalk was crawling with what looked like cockroaches or something similar? The room was once again covered in bugs and the blood spots and burn marks on the sheets resurfaced. We had had enough and asked to change rooms. They obliged. The new room seemed much cleaner but there were still some bugs crawling around. At this point, it was whatever as we just wanted the stay to end. We spent as much time as we could in the lobby (which was also covered in ants) and outside of the room to avoid it.
In summary, between the bugs, being bitten and getting sick from it, the no hot water and refusing a partial refund, the overpriced and subpar food, the dismissive staff (it really was only one or two people at the front desk, most of the other staff seemed to be attentive and care) and charging us for laundry and giving it back to us 2 days later still wet, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and will never ever go back here.
If you are looking for a positive, the food/bar workers were cool to talk with.
Don’t, just don’t
Sadly a complete fail!
This claims to be a luxury eco lodge but sadly is more of a broken cheapo hostel.
After a few weeks touring Chile and expending a lot of energy visiting various great places in Chile, we decided to splash out on a nice place to stay in Easter Island, tacking on a few extra days to recharge our batteries.
Sadly this place is completely the wrong place to do this.
The hotel is very tired and worn. Our room had missing paint, large gouges out of the walls and what looked like patches of damp. The toilet seat was broken and didn’t fit the bowl. The typical hotel washing line was present but broken, with someone splicing in an extra piece of red cord, although that too was broken. The French windows rattled in the frame when the wind blew (which it often does on an Island a couple of thousand from anywhere), so don’t count on any sleep. The windows have no screens and indeed part of the shower is open to the elements so any hope of staying mosquito free is but a faint hope. A bit of a disappointment in an expensive hotel in an area known for Denge Fever. The gardens are left largely wild, which I rather liked, it is a rather casual style.
The hotel is perhaps a kilometre from the ocean, so you will not hear any lapping waves.
Food at the Altiplanico is supposed to be good although we had a very mixed experience. One good meal, one complete fail (asked for an ingredient to be left out and they totally ignored this). A repla
Maybe it's unfair to give it a 4 star review, but I can't really give it 5. The property is fine, a little in need of paint and an update, but that may just be symptomatic of the island in general since everything needs to be imported. When our guide picked us up, he told me it was one of the nicer properties on the island.
There is no air conditioning, but I think that is common. Some have said that the property is a little out of the center of town, which it is, but I liked that. It was a lovely walk down the coast passing Moais along the way, about 15 minutes. Some at the front desk speak better English than others, but my husband speaks Spanish so it was not a problem.
The hotel tries to please. My room was missing a blowdryer, and when we told them, they immediately went and bought one for the room.
