Holiday Inn Express & Suites Detroit North - Troy by IHG

It just wasn’t the best experience.

Since we weren’t diamond members (I believe that is what it was called), we couldn’t get a late check out. We needed 30 more minutes for my kids to do their online class, but we ended up leaving early anyways, because wifi wasn’t working in the building.

No towels in the pool area, we had to track those down.

I got a soda out of the pop machine and it was expired in 2024. They did refund me the money, but I didn’t try to get anything else because I didn’t want to run into that problem again.

Quiet when i arrived, still quiet at 11 pm.

It was an average hotel. The continental breakfast would’ve been better if it would have stayed open as advertised.
This is a budget friendly hotel.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was perfect for our family with different diet options.

Needs an update

Breakfast was nice. Checkout staff was great. Check in staff was ok. Door to my room was hard to open and close. Had to really shove it open and closed. Like hip check it.

Room is dated - staff very helpful to fix fast what needed yet some things need an overhaul like bathroom (broken tiles) odd set up for hand held shower in accessible room.
Sadly breakfast is STILL using 1-time plastic and foam dishes / fork-knife-spoon

Me and my kids enjoyed our stay the front desk was very helpful and pleasant.

Hotel was clean in entrance, breakfast, gym, and pool.

Overall the property met our needs. It seemed quite outdated with peeling wallpaper and chipped paint. The furnishings were older but fine. Room needed a good cleaning.

Our visit was fine. For late hour check-ins, please provide a bell at the front desk- I don’t blame the guy for being asleep in the back because our flight and car rental was severely delayed, we didn’t get in until 3am and had no way to contact the front desk guy. Just kept knocking… please set up a bell. Breakfast was good. Everything else fine- thank you

Are stay was not the best. We had to literally lean against the doors to get them to open very difficult. The bathroom was the same way. The soap was completely empty in the shower also was very inconvenient. Also we were looking forward to going in the pool and realized when we arrived the pool was closed for repairs, overall very disappointing.

We had sewer issues in our room. The second floor smelled like a sewer. We had mold and water leaking in the window. We had to use excessive force to open and close the door to our room because the floor was buckling underneath the door. We were unable to even use the second lock on the door because the door was so out of whack. I was moved to a different room as a result. But we immediately checked out of the hotel early because the hotel lost power. It was a terrible experience and I’m expecting a refund.
