We enjoyed our stay in this lovely Boutique Hotel in a colonial style. Our rooms are very very comfortable and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. After a welcome drink we got all information about trip around Quito (sooo much to do) and how we get to the bus and ordering a taxi.
You need to try the empanadas by Francisco next door. Delicious!
Additional there are so many restaurants around this area so you can get there by feet. Enjoy!
An unbelievable pleasant hotel and staff. Went out of the way to be sure we were comfortable and pleased. The building is very well maintained and clean. Breakfast in the top floor solarium was a real treat. Food was good and chef prepares to your order.
We stayed one night between leaving Galapagos and going to the cloud forest near Mindo. It was a very memorable stay. The hotel is a really interesting old house with furniture and art of the period - yet a modern bathroom with wonderful shower and large bedroom with a very comfortable bed. We were very close to a square with a variety of places to eat. The staff are friendly and helpful, and because we had to leave early, without us having to ask, they made us a packed breakfast. There is a beautiful flowering plant in the front garden by the porch. Really nice traditional hotel
We stayed here twice (at the beginning and at the end of our roundtrip trough ecuador) and it felt like coming home. Good location near Mariscal. Nice boutique-hotel. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Breakfast was extraordinary with lots of variation .... Our favourite!
Cute room in a converted turn-of-the-century home. The owner is sweet and staff are on hand to make breakfast for you between 6:30 and 9:00 am (you just need to tell them when you will be awake). We were able to arrange for transport to and from the hotel. Nice decorative touches throughout the home and a lovely garden.
Small downsides: 1. The room we were in had stains on the carpet and mildew in the shower -- both things that can be fixed, and weren't overwhelming negative factors. 2. I was asked multiple times to settle the bill -- upon arrival, the morning after arrival, the afternoon after arrival, the morning of departure. Each time I asked if now or later would be fine, and was told "whenever is fine!" but then asked again. It would be more reasonable to either request payment upfront (at the time of reservation) or else at the time of departure -- or else let guests making reservations know that payment is due at check-in. I settled the bill twice because of additional transport costs incurred, once in cash because the credit card machine was nonfunctional.
Overall, a nice restful stay in the middle of a busy, active part of Quito. The hot water bottles at bedtime were a nice touch!
My family recently spent several nights on two different occasions at the City Art Hotel in Quito. It is such a comfortable and beautiful oasis inside a bustling city. Dora’s gracious hospitality made it feel as if we were visiting with family. The rooms are spacious and have extra little touches that make it special. Breakfasts include made to order eggs, homemade sweet cakes, ripe fruit and more. Restaurants are within walking distance at the Plaza Foch as well as a great shopping market where bought lots of items to take home. Dora also made some great recommendations for our trip itinerary that proved to be very helpful. Since it is by a busy area, street noise can be heard on the weekends but all quieted down by 11pm. We had no issues with that. Would definitely return if back in Quito.
Great location and friendly staff owner extended stay when flight was delayed at no charge
You can choose to stay in old town or la mariscal (new town) when in Quito
Old town is dead in the evening. This hotel is near the restaurants and the arts district.
When traveling we like to stay in places with a local vibe. The hotel is a beautiful old home with good breakfast on the enclosed roof with great views of the city.
Would definitely recommend.
My family and I had a lovely stay with Gabby in Quito. We had a few personal issues with which she was extremely helpful and accommodating. Clean rooms, beautiful breakfast room, gorgeous flowers and very generous and kind owner.
We can’t say enough good things about our time here! The accommodations were very comfortable-WiFi was provided, hot water in the showers and very comfortable bed! Breakfast in the morning was delicious and served on the greenhouse rooftop. The only negative is that we weren’t able to spend more time here! Thanks again for taking such great care of us and making us feel so safe!
This was our favorite hotel of the four we stayed in while in Ecuador. Our room was beautifully furnished, with antiques and art. The staff was very attentive, making sure we were comfortable, knew where to go to eat, preparing breakfast on our schedule, providing a breakfast-to-go when we had to leave, and best of all, a water bottle to warm our feet at night. Just a really lovely place to stay!
Amazing decor and comfortable beds! The owner is very nice and meticulous about all the details in the rooms - I would definitely recommend this hotel!
the entire property is unique. It is filled with art and each room is beautiful. Gabrielle, the owner, provides a wonderful breakfast every day. Her staff could not be more attentive or helpful
City Arts Hotel is a beautifully appointed and excellently located small hotel that caters to its guests. Furnished with Victorian style antiques, fresh flowers and comfortable canopy beds,(including a special touch of a hot water bottle) it is a great place to stay in the Marsasal area of Quito. Our party of five was warmly welcomed by owner Gabby and staff member Andrea who provided lots of advice on restaurants and places to go. Gabby also arranged a special surprise birthday celebration which was greatly appreciated. The breakfast was also awesome . This was our second time at this very comfy hotel and will not be the last !
City Art Hotel is within a 15 min. walk to the craft market and park, and right in the heart of the hip restaurants, although it is on a quiet street. The owner made us feel very welcome, organizing a charming birthday pudding and helping us get a ride to the airport. The rooms are elegant and the beds are very comfortable. Although there is no elevator, the staff are very helpful. The breakfast, in an atrium overlooking the neighborhood, was beautifully laid out and delicious.
Fabulous staff. Very charming. Nice location. Excellent breakfast.
Very nice place, cosy rooms in a colonial style. Excellent breakfast, friendly staff.
Very central location for party in the evening, depending on your room: Saturday night might be noisy...
Overall a very good experience
Such a beautiful place. Makes you feel like home. Very nice beds and showers. In the middle of the shipping and night life and Restaurants area. We loved it. My wife and children are very happy. The hotel is decorated in very beautiful classic way.
This is a charming hotel just a couple of blocks off of La Plaza Foche. Each room is charming and unique. We had two double beds in ours (Room #5) on the second floor and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The staff is very friendly and helpful, eager to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. We loved the wonderful surprise of having a warm water pillow tucked into the foot of our beds at night! What a treat! (I need to buy one!) We slept with the windows open (July) but the trade off for the nice, cool breeze was considerable noise from the busy streets below. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
Wilson, the street the hotel is on, is pretty quiet for the rest of the neighborhood. I was surprised, however, when multiple people told us to take a taxi, even for short distances. I never felt unsafe and the streets around us were very often bustling with people.
Breakfast on the third floor terrace is lovely. You can have a fresh egg omelette made to your liking or take advantage of cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, breads and jams, cereal and yogurt with granola. Do not miss trying whatever fresh juice is available!! One was better than the next!
If you are looking for an independently-owned boutique hotel, instead of a chain, check this out. Loved our stay in this quaint B&B-type place.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quito. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating, the guest room I was in was cozy and I had a very comfortable sleep there for 2 nights. Breakfast was such a treat in the bright sunny Terrace Room and having the Chef right their preparing omelettes was just stellar!
