We stayed here about 5 years ago and since then nothing has been improved or updated. We always liked the garden area but now it is being used for storage of items and so less area to relax and spend quality time. Also new businesses have opened nearby which has increased the noise later into the night. But it is relatively inexpensive and food is reasonable so there are trade-offs.
Quiet retreat in the heart of bustling Thamel. Simple accommodations without frills. Polite and helpful staff.
The staff is outstanding. They are very helpful and motivated. The food is very good, and the hotel is clean with plenty of hot water. Highly recommended. It is off the Main Street so it is quieter than expected in Thamel. A real oasis.
Excellent value for money, wonderful and helpful staff, beautiful garden area, it felt like home away from home. The location was very good also. I would definitely stay there again.
Great location in central Thamel, good friendly staff with excellent knowledge of the area. Garden was great for relaxing and breakfast was good value being included.
We saw staff being abused by a drunken, argumentative Swedish woman who was a guest, special mention and praise needs to be made to all the young staff that handled the unnecessary situation so well. They remained professional and calm throughout the incident, even when the woman made an inappropriate grab at one of the young men when she realised she was wrong and obviously thought that gesture would be funny and her way of all being forgotten. My great respect goes to you all that had to endure her behaviour.
Our 3rd stay, will definitely go there again.
Coming back from 5 weeks trekking and volunteering it was like heaven. It is located in the heart of Thamel and easy to access the area which has a lot to do. Overall the hotel is pretty nice and amazing in comparison with places I had been staying.
This hotel has the friendliest, most helpful staff anywhere! For the price, it was also one of the best value places we experienced on our Nepal trip. Large rooms, comfortable beds, good heater/AC. Very good breakfast buffet included.
We decided to stay here as a bit of a treat after previously staying in budget accomodation. Our room was very small, the heater didn't work and the water in the shower didn't get much past warm.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Great value. Centrally located in Thamel. Very helpful staff.
On the day of checkout after a guided tour of the city, hotel manager was kind enough to offer a room to shower and relax while waiting for a very late flight. The staff was very inviting and helfull
Free breakfast was good. Upon checkin, a hotel escorted us to a recommended local Nepali restaurant so we would not get lost.
Assisted in getting a tour guide at a reasonable cost to see local sights. Was the way to go given traffic and language difficulties.
It has a nice courtyard to relax in. The breakfast is good.
Thamel Eco Resort deosnot honour the bookings done through expedia ,eventhough two deluxe rooms were booked ,on arrival we were given standard rooms ,after much argument we were shifted to another room but not deluxe room what we paid for .The AC was not working .Finally we shifted to another Hotel .Almost four to five hours was lost in this ,this ruined the start of Journey .We contacted Expedia numbers given could not get through .After coming also waited for more than 15 min thrice before going through to a customer representative whose only help was to give an email to complain subsequently.
Great place to stay if you're on a budget. Simple, clean and good wifi connection.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Thamel Eco Resort, so good we stayed twice, before and after our trek. There was a little confusion in the beginning, make sure you reserve a room which has a bathroom in the room (which is the more expensive). The manager quickly fix our situation and got us the room we needed. He's a very nice gentleman and will do anything to help your stay be the best it can be. He help arrange our second stay after our trek with no problems. The food is wonderful, huge breakfast, more then anyone could eat with lots of opinions. Great courtyard with a beautiful garden. We would meet our friends there for dinner, very charming. Its right in the heart of Thamel (make sure you get his card with a map on the back to help if you get lost). Its down a road off the main street which I'm sure it helped with the city noise, however it is Kathmandu not a suburb. Right under our window there were roosters crowing all day long. If roosters crow cuz their happy well then these were the happiest roosters I've ever seen or heard. However once it gets dark everything soon shuts down so you can sleep. I recommend this hotel very highly, its a great price with comfort and wonderful food. The staff are friendly and good at their job, I always felt that they cared about us not just doing it for a paycheck.
Very good, good service. The towels looked a bit old but generally fine
Hotel is clean, courtyard is very relaxing place to sit and have tea or a beer, and meet other travellers.
Confirmed the hotel room and paid on line in hotels.com. When arrived hotel they said they never connect with any other booking site and didn't receive my booking record and in fact there's no rooms available on the night...what a joke!!! At last looked for a room and sent me to another nearby hotel for me...but a very disappointing and ridiculous experience from hotes.com!
Bottom line, rooms and bathrooms are decently clean. Breakfast was good, had variety of selections. In the heart of Thamel, this hotel is close to food, shopping and sightseeing.
We returned to this hotel four times during our travels in Nepal and each time the staff were very welcoming. Our best room was 503 on the top floor which was spacious with a nice large shower room. Other rooms were smaller but always very clean and tidy. Hotel has a pleasant garden/courtyard where you can relax and dine. Good size dining room and menu, free Wifi and access to a computer if you don't carry your own. All the staff are helpful and friendly. Situated at the end of a quieter street this hotel is a welcomed escape from the hustle and bustle of the Thamel area.
