Easy location, very easy check in process. The room was quiet and right across from the stairs for easy access. They let us check in at 2pm rather than having to wait until 3pm.
I couldn't adjust the TV volume down. I had to turn the TV off for it to return to a volume that was tolerable after I had accidently had the volume too high. Walking around the one side of the bed at night I kept thinking I was going to bump into the ledge on the sofa.
I liked that the incidental fee was only $20 per night and that check out is at 12 instead of 11.
They charged an additional night for early checkout, not clear during reservation. When you go for a business trip schedule changes could happen. It is the first time that this happens to me.
If you're traveling with a service animal or value being treated with basic human decency, I strongly recommend staying anywhere but the Courtyard Columbus New Albany.
I came into town for a wedding and, as a responsible guest, notified the hotel in advance—both in my reservation and by phone—that I would be bringing my service dog. Despite this, I was harassed by staff over a full 24-hour period. The experience was so distressing I needed an emergency therapy session when I returned home.
When I asked for a partial refund for just the second night, I was met with a cold, dismissive response from both hotel management and Marriott Corporate. I was told staff “acted in accordance with policy,” which—if true—is incredibly concerning. If your policy results in traumatizing a disabled guest, perhaps it’s time to revisit it.
Marriott’s customer service throughout this process was anything but caring. No ownership. No accountability. No meaningful effort to repair the harm done. Just polite corporate language designed to shut the door on the conversation.
And unfortunately, I’m not alone. A quick scan of other low-star reviews shows a troubling pattern of poor treatment, questionable charges, and lackluster service. My experience seems to be business as usual here—and that should give anyone pause.
I will not be returning. I’ll also be deleting my Bonvoy membership and avoiding Marriott as a company from here on out. Respect, safety, and accessibility should not be negotiable.

Check in was very quick and easy. The hotel was very close to the venue.
The doors! For my hotel room that I was staying in my girls, the latch attached back to the door after closing it. We were there for a dance competition. We left the room want unbeknownst to me the door was locked with the top latch, latched to the door. Spent about 2 hours outside of my room when my girls had to be in bed at specific time due to the competition schedule and their early performances. At the end of the 2 hours the firemen came to get door open by cutting off the top latch. I did mention that particular to the manager who check me out upon leaving and was not offered a comped night for the inconvenience. All that was said was "that was the pool girl who was helping you. And we do have a tool to open the door when that happens".
