The hotel is a few minutes walk to the castle & shops/restaurants. It was comfortable because we had a larger room, but our friends' room was tiny, & wouldn't be suitable for larger folks. The Restaurant areas are attractive & plenty of seating.
I was surprised that in the Lord Nelson room, the bathroom has a very hot radiator right in front of you while sitting on the loo. You have to be careful not to burn your legs.
The location was great
Location quality service and brilliant staff along with comfortable room
Squeaky floor boards in room above
The hotel is perfectly placed to explore this gorgeous little town. The staff are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are beautifully presented and absolutely spotless. The food is lovely. We had lunch and breakfast but the dinner menu was also really tempting.

Great location, charmingly upgraded, very helpful staff, beautiful dining room.
Friendly staff, good location
Not enough staff in restaurant- service slow both at dinner and breakfast
The bar area and decor.
The fact the bar closed early for a Saturday, even foe residents, i.e., before midnight in a city centre location.
The location was perfect as it was in easy access of everything. You could see the castle from some of the windows. We parked in the back car park with no issues, which was free. The decor and facilities of the hotel are lovely, there are some great quirky designs, but it suits the old building. The room I booked was one of the larger ones, it was the Lord Nelson, it was large, had great facilities and the bed was amazing. I would go back just for a great nights sleep. The show was good and the shampoos etc were high quality. Also loved the touch of a duck in the shower and a note from House keeping, wishing us a good stay. Down in the bar there is a good selection of wines and beers, but a large wine and Guinness was £19, but it was good wine. We didn’t eat at the hotel, as there is a good selection of nearby restaurants.
Everything was great
