The breakfast was the best I've ever had at a hotel and the whole staff was amazing and friendly.
The pool could have been warmer.
Beautiful, perfect location.
Costly to park.
It was great, we got a little bit pricier of a room the view was great. I think that was my favorite part but I also really liked how clean everything was and how friendly the staff was.
Our room was right above the pool so if there’s a bunch of kids splashing around and hollering you could hear it but honestly that’s just minor it didn’t bother us enough to want a room change or anything like that. The food menu from the bar was pretty limited.
We enjoyed a decent stay at the Hyatt House Pittsburgh South Side. Our stay was a bit better than expected from a typical Hyatt House property.
We appreciated the upgrade to a river view king room. The view was scenic and peaceful, and I would recommend booking this category, as it does make a difference.
There are not many true Globalist benefits at a Hyatt House property, aside from possible room upgrades and late checkout when available. The complimentary breakfast is the same that all guests receive.
The room itself was basic but spacious, in very good condition and clean. Bed and pillows were just okay, but shower pressure was surprisingly good. I would describe the room as clean, comfortable and convenient.
We don't use kitchenettes, but for those who do, there was a nice one, and it seemed to be well stocked.
The thing that brought my review down by a star was the breakfast. It was of poor quality, and there were barely any gluten free options. Also, the single staff member who was managing the buffet was slow moving and had an attitude. She looked sloppy and did not present well. This staff member was wearing stained sweats, had disheveled hair and looked like she had just rolled out of bed.
Many items on the buffet were out and the staff member was inefficient at restocking. I asked her if there was any gluten free bread, and she went to the back, then reappeared and advised that all of the breads (there were several types) were gluten free. She was clearly guessing. I informed her that unless the label specifically stated "gluten free," bread generally contains gluten. She shrugged in an uncaring manner.
We chose not to partake in the complimentary hotel breakfast for our remaining two mornings.
This property is conveniently located near restaurants and shops and is in a very picturesque, walkable part of town. The walk along the river is especially pleasant.
I recommend this place for a convenient and moderately priced stay, but if you enjoy good breakfasts, best to dine out or prepare your own.
This review is strictly for globalist that may consider this property. They treat you like a third party booking even if you book directly. We got the lowest tier of room despite full availability. It’s obvious because even during breakfast hours it was very empty. Highly suggest to stay away from this hotel if you are globalist. Even if you want to book it, just use third party and at least earn better points or cashback, because they don’t care about WOH program. If you are globalists you know know what I’m talking about, we go out of our way often to stay within the brand even if it’s more expensive than say a marriot or Hilton. While the Hyatt T&C doesn’t guarantee any suite (which I don’t expect) they should at least give you something above than the most basic room. Instead they gave us absolute lowest tier of room. Low floor, not facing river when 50% of their rooms face river. Breakfast and water are always included at Hyatt place/house yet they try to say that’s your benefit and it’s an insult. The worst part is they try to tack on random fees to my bill in email after I checked out. When I called and asked (I wasn’t rude) the front desk was rude. The gentleman kept answering with “ok, anything else?” Instead of “sorry about that, let me look into it for you”. Yea I get that this isn’t a Park Hyatt but I’ve never been treated worse at any Hyatt, and I’ve stayed at Hyatt from $80 to $800 a night.
Again, hotel itself is perfectly fine, very new modern and clean. The breakfast staff were also excellent. One lady came around with a bowl of bacon and offered to us. If it wasn’t for poor operations/front desk, it would have been a great experience and an easy 5 star.
The studio rooms are very spacious. The staff are helpful and friendly.
Friendly staff. Nice selection of food.
One day the pancakes were really greasy. But then they made them better.
The breakfast sausage as really good, had peppers and onions. The cooks were nice.
The parking was bad and I hate that it’s not included in your stay. Also 1 of the elevators were down which made getting back and forth to our room a very long process. Lastly, we had some stains on our sheets, but there was no housekeeper to change them so e had to do it ourselves.
