Excelsior Palace Taormina
Pros:

Great location overlooking the Taormina bay, offering a big park with a beautiful pool, good restaurant and bar.
All staff is extremely friendly, but the best experience is starting the day with the delicious breakfast buffet served by warm-hearted Angela and her team!

Pros:

The location was fantastic, right at the edge of the old town. The room was spacious with a great view of Mount Etna. Breakfast was good, especially the pastries but I wish they would open earlier (breakfast starts at 7:30). They had very nice outdoor areas.

Cons:

There were no USB connections in the room. The pillows were not very comfortable.

Hotel In Need of Makeover.
Pros:

First impressions are of a grand aristocratic hotel, lots of artefacts and historic photos , then it goes wrong. The hotel has been kept in a time warp. Very dated and shabby. Rooms in need of a massive renovation, dull decor, one plug socket, leaky shower onto the floor, powdered milk, wooden sticks to stir hot drinks.
Breakfast was mixture of good and bad. The room very clean and bright, plenty of pastries, coffee, fruit. On the other hand hot food cold, if you want fried egg, other than cold scrambled that’s on offer then it costs €5 extra. After debating with a very surly waitress she produced a menu from somewhere stating that this was extra.
The staff on reception are very helpful, even moved us when the cigarette smoke from our next door neighbours came through the adjoining door.
The location is perfect, the view was good however I would not have put our room in the deluxe category it was supposed to be.
Overall I wouldn’t go back to this hotel, maybe if it had a major upgrade, but there will be someone out there that just might like this kind of place.

Nel complesso un soggiorno davvero piacevole, con un ringraziamento speciale a Lucio del bar e del servizio in sala.

Splendida vista sul mare e sull'Etna, personale cortese e un ringraziamento speciale al nostro barman Lucio. La sua professionalità, la sua gentilezza e la sua grande capacità di relazionarsi con le persone hanno reso il nostro soggiorno bellissimo.

Cons:

Le proposte per la cena, per un soggiorno di 7 notti, risultano un po' ripetitive. La freschezza degli ingredienti potrebbe essere migliorata.
