Only good thing is the spa.
Pros:

The sauna and spa facilities were decent, we enjoyed the pool although we thought there was also an outside pool for all guests as seen in some of the pictures, they haven't changed the decor which is still very different and I really like it.

Cons:

We had booked for our first year anniversary which I had requested turndown champagne and flowers in the suite if possible, I had requested this twice, it was not done, our anniversary was not even mentioned. In the advertising there is a jacuzzi by the pool but that has been cemented over. The menu has changed from a tasting menu to an extremely basic dinner menu (beef, fish, lamb or Cauliflower) , we had to go out to restaurants because there was only one item my wife could eat. They have a beautiful bar but never a bar tender, if you ever wanted to order something you had to go to reception and request a bartender, same with service in the outside area, you had to constantly go to reception to request service of any kind. There were a couple of really good waiters, but the rest it felt like you ruined their day when you requested small things like ice. So our planned anniversary to just stay at the hotel and relax ended with us having to go into Stellenbosch and the surrounding wine farms to get any kind of quality meals/service.

The Magic of Majeeka
Pros:

We stayed a couple of nights at Majeka house whilst visiting the vineyards around Stellenbosch.
The hotel is so quiet and peaceful and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble..
Food and drinks were lovely in the restaurant.
Monde the driver took us on a private wine tour which was excellent.
The ladies on reception Srstpho & Tanartswa were great and nothing was any problem for them.
Would definitely recommend if you want to stay outside stellenbosch and enjoy a lovely garden, pool and hotel.

Outstanding Find!
Pros:

Majeka House is a true boutique gem and an absolute oasis in Stellenbosch. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt calm, private, and beautifully curated.
Our room was spacious, quiet, impeccably clean, and wonderfully secluded. Having our own private pool made the experience even more special—it felt like a private retreat. The spa was exceptional; I enjoyed one of the best massages I’ve ever had.
Although it was a quiet weekend and I wasn’t sure what to expect, the service exceeded all expectations. The staff were attentive and welcoming, and the food was outstanding—beautifully presented and full of flavor. The wine bar area was one of my favorite spaces to unwind in the evenings.
The gardens are absolutely lovely, perfect for a peaceful stroll or simply sitting with a book. We also discovered a beautiful hiking path near the hotel, which added to the charm of the stay.
Majeka House would be a wonderful venue for a special event or celebration. We truly wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of the spa, private pool, and incredible cuisine.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tranquil, luxury boutique experience in Stellenbosch.

I look forward to returning to Majeka House, I hope it will be soon, thank you for a memorable stay
Pros:

The room was great, we so enjoyed the swimming pool, the breakfast was really good.....our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer, maybe next time!!
with reference to the bed situation, we had requested two singles, there was a kingsize in the room but this situation was rapidly rectified within half an hour.....thank you!

Charming Stellenbosch Oasis
Pros:

Checked out this lovely property which had seen better days when last there, now that it's under new [professional!] management for a recent Stellenbosch overnight, dinner and massage . . . Happy to report that it's well on it's way back! New owners have already made a big difference, freshening up the rooms and public areas, restoring the pools, terraces and gardens to their former glory and generally injecting professional service culture into the hotel. Rooms are spacious, well-appointed and quirky; our sparkling shared pool was welcome refuge from the summer heat and the friendly, welcoming team took very good care of us. A delightful stay -- looking forward to further developments and will definitely be back!

Amazing Staff and Welcome
Pros:

Owing to some unfortunate news regarding a family illness back in the UK, we had to change our plans last minute from driving inland to staying in Stellenbosch and being closer to the airport just in case we need to be back in the UK at short notice.
We booked our 3 night stay at the Majeeka house through a third party app but when we arrived, our booking had not registered with the hotel .
The manager ( Chits) and the staff however were amazing . They came up with an alternative plan to accommodate us for one night then transfer us to a sister hotel in Stellenbosch for our remaining two nights.
Every member of staff we encountered at Majeeka house were so welcoming and friendly.
We booked in for dinner at the hotel and had amazing food and we were given impeccable service at our table by the lovely Nicole.

Yes, the building is tired. However the staff here are absolutely amazing and under the new ownership of the LivingJourney Group, there are apparently big renovation plans for this hotel during 2026 so watch this space.

There is absolutely no need to make any changes to the staff of Majeeka House. They made us feel right at home and with new renovations coming, this place will be a gem for accommodation for anyone visiting Stellenbosch.

Thank you Chets ( Manager - apologies if I have misspelled your name ) and all your amazing staff.

One just wants to wander and linger longer in the space
Pros:

The Majeka House is honestly one of the finest, hidden and tucked away secrets, in a suburb of Stellenbosch Western Cape South Africa - it just made me feel majestically at home. Food, wine, sommelier service and the absolute luxury rooms done by Etienne Hanekom are just so absolutely beau. The pool. spa and garden is so lovely - one just wants to wander, wonder and linger longer in this space.
