Loved the location of the hotel. The staff were very welcoming. Car park on site which is a pre-requisite for us as we were travelling by car. The room was comfortable with en-suite bathroom. Perfect for a one night stay.
Air-conditioning in the room would have been welcome as it was extremely hot in the room. The room came with a tall fan, which was used, allowing us to sleep in the heat. However, it was not the hotel's fault that it was extremely hot - we were staying during an extreme heatwave!
The reception staff were amazing, helpful & happy to speak English (thank you) The young lady in the breakfast room was delightful too. Breakfast was good and the hotel was very clean in general. We felt very welcome and we loved La Rochelle it was a highlight of our trip. Would have liked to have stayed longer.
The room was tiny, our fault, we could have asked for a bigger room but did not realise this until we were leaving.

The carpets were terrible marked and worn and smelt.The room was dark as looked on to a courtyard where people smoked not good if window was open,and Privacy ,

Caldo caldissimo con un ventilatore tutta la notte dormito malissimo.
Situation géographique en plein centre ville avec en plus un parking privé, personnel très accueillant et de bons conseils, petit déjeuner varié et de bonne qualité, sympathique décoration.
Manque de place dans la salle de bain pour poser ses affaires.

Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Die Lage vom Hotel sensationell mitten in La Rochelle. Nettes modernes Interieur im Kunst- und Musikstil.
Uns fehlte ein kleiner Kühlschrank gerade bei den hohen Temperaturen. Das Zommer roch stark nach Reinigung/Chemikalien, was aber durch einen Zimmerwechsel sofort behoben werden konnte.
Spent a lovely few days at the Francois 1er. Overall it's good value and the location is excellent - it's a quiet location but you're only 2 steps away from the shopping areas and the harbour. Staff were really great.
Bathroom in our room I think had recently been upgraded because it was spotless and the shower was excellent.
Only slight negative is that there's no cooked breakfast available other than boiled eggs, but what is provided is fresh and there's a reasonable variety for a 3* hotel. Good coffee!
Please note the hotel has no aircon, but most rooms have shutters so if you keep these closed and the windows closed when it's hot outside it's fine. Our room had a decent fan as well so we had no issues sleeping.
We would stay here again if visiting La Rochelle.
