I booked and paid for a suite but got a regular room because all suites were taken. They said it was their mistake and they would correct it but refused to make the adjustment upon check-out. They scammed me, plain and simple.
Service very polite and helpful, but hotel very worn down, somehwwat dirty, breakfast terrible and not worth it. I saw equally bad places in thamel for less than half the price, so if you want to slum it, save the money.
Excellent stay, the staff is a extremely friendly and highly service/guest focusssd, very helpful. Hot shower, heated room. Great breakfast. Great location. Will be back here after trekkkng and exploring other places in Nepal. Will be my base when I’m in Thamel, Kathmandu.
My first ever overseas trip and I am joyfully amazed!!!
My GF arrived before me and when she landed at the airport the hotel failed to arrange a driver to pick her up per expectations, so she had to book a taxi which they paid for. Our room was not as expected, but atter complaining they moved us to a much nicer room.
When I then arrived two days later, again no driver at the airport as promised over the phone... but they covered the cab.
Breakfast was decent, room was nice, and the service was pretty good. Just a little annoying to have to push then for the right room and better just plan to get your own cab from the airport.
Location is excellent and I would definitely stay here again, provided I get one of the nicer rooms on the 3rd floor: there's a big difference between the good rooms and the basic ones.
Great central spot, with a great breakfast and very good restaurant! Central, all you need is here.
Stayed in between trekking and a visit to Pokhara. The room is clean but there is no lift. Breakfast is a buffet style with choice of fruit, cereal, toast, cooked veggies, egg and meat, 1 juice, milk, tea and coffee. The hotel is centrally located in Thamel and the staff are helpful.
Got upgrade for free, they where supportive in any change
We, as a family, simply loved the place. We would like to stay there in your next visit as well. Location, room, lobby, resaurant everything was too good, still value for money. So were the staff.
Charming and comfortable hotel in the bustling active Thamal district. A bit noisy, but it's all part of being in this area. The hotel staff was terrific and were very accommodating. Tours were arranged with ease and at reasonable prices. The adjoining restaurant was very good. There is no elevator. There is Security on site and lots of shopping nearby.
I would stay here again....
+ve, Friendly clean and tidy. -ve, The hot water takes ages to come through, but the length of pipe work is not their fault.
Sit back, relax, and let the managers take care of all your travel needs. For your first visit to Nepal the Kathmandu Ecohotel is a great place to stay. Tours are conveniently planned in the lobby area by the hotel manager Bimal. All tours are affordable and less expensive than local competitors. I had the opportunity to visit all the cultural sites and temples of the city, and visit Nagarkot Hill for an excellent morning view of the Himalayas and afternoon hike. The nearby cultural diner with dancers is a must. Four days is all you need to have a great time in the city. Shopping in the backpacker district of Thamel is right out of the hotel's front door. The attached restaurant has great food, and breakfasts are free if you have a room at the hotel. Rooms are clean and reasonably priced. Tour planning and friendly staff makes the Kathmandu Ecohotel a great place to stay for your first visit to Nepal.
I was greeted so kindly & hotel bent over backwards when I had a personal crisis. They arranged my travel and what I should pay the cab.
Provided free transportation from airport+ Person waiting for my airport exit with a sign. Everything was as descibed on web. Good to go!
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with maps and directions as well as luggage. The hotel is located in the heart of Thamel district, close to everything. The room was very simple with AC. However, after leaving the hotel, I noticed red bumps all over my body from the bed. They may need to replace some of their mattresses.
We had an excellent time here. The staff are great. There is air conditioning that works very well and isn't noisy, water is nice and hot and shower has plenty of pressure. It felt like a place of relaxation outside of the busy city. Also because of regular power outages, this hotel also has a back up generator so you still have light.
They kept or bags for us while we were away for two weeks on our trek.
Beds were comfortable. Our king bed were two doubles pushed together but it was done nicely.
Great hospitality and friendly hotel staff, priceless asset! Excellent location, located right in Thamel. For that kind of price nothing to complain about.
The location of this hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of the tourist area, withing minutes of anything you could possibly want - restaurants, travel agents, shops, etc. The people at the hotel were superb. Super friendly, helpful, and always kind and polite. The buffet breakfast was great with plenty to choose from, and it was quiet at night. The price is great and if you are really adventurous, as I was, you can even walk to the Monkey Temple, which is a Do Not Miss!!! It is, however a couple of miles, or so, and not the easiest route to follow. Taxis are reasonable so you can get there, but getting back might not be so easy. Make sure you take a business card of the hotel with an address and you'll still get a few blank stares....but someone will know how to get you back home. Enjoy ~
