We booked for a relaxing night away and the hotel room was large, very clean and comfortable and with a fantastic shower.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome.
Nice swimming pool and outside area, but oh dear, the restaurant service was an utter disaster. The long long wait for service was explained as being caused by the kitchen only having one member of staff on duty as Mondays are usually quiet 🤫. When it arrived, the food was good quality but as a dinner experience it failed badly. The waiting staff were in a difficult position but remained polite throughout.
That apart, we would stay again but not dine. As others have said, the breakfast offering was very good.
12 golfers ,some had been before.
PROs. Rooms large and well equipped, everything you would need and expect. All communal areas immaculate and room cleaners do a superb job. Staff very helpful although the breakfast staff could maybe manage a smile , it goes a long way. Alex in the outside bar/ restaurant was extremely helpful, despite being rushed off her feet in the afternoons.
Golf course in good condition and also handy in relation to the hotel. Course was well marshalled with 18 holes taking around the four mark - excellent.Breakfast was good with the usual hot and cold options.
CONS. Do not stay half board. Evening meal extremely disappointing. Gave it two nights to give it a chance but food was average at best. House wine was changed as it had “ ran out” on both nights- very strange. Ate in Ayamonte for the other five nights despite paying for half board accommodation. Some big drinkers in our party , but again on numerous occasions the bar “ran out” of spiced rum and Baileys - unforgivable in a hotel bar.The hot breakfast did not go down well with our group with the sausage and bacon described as below average.
Golf curse for 1 Week (private, nothing to do with the Hotel
Hotel correct..
Food verry poor We did not like ad all
Wine cart =catastrophe , Poor choise and most wines sold out
We will certainly not return!!!
So poor food I did not see in any hotel of this category for Years
It is e shame
Un lugar muy tranquilo a plena naturaleza
Rooms are spacious and staff very nice we went half board that was a mistake the food was awful
The breakfast was cold and not very inviting same in the evening meat balls one night and cheese board for starters!!!
Will return to this hotel if in the area but will go room only
Just back from a fantastic week at Isla Canela Golf Hotel, here follows our review.
We were 3 single figure handicap and a 21 handicap golfers from Glasgow area, first time at 4* Isla Canela Hotel and Golf for 6 rounds of golf in late Sept / early October.
We booked through Golfbreaks (service from Joey was once again excellent), and would most certainly return to this hotel and the golf courses. Third time to this area of Spain in the last year (previously El Rompido and Islantilla).
We had great flights with Ryanair from Prestwick to Faro, all on time. Private minibus transfer from Faro Airport to Isla Canela with Bravo Tur (arranged by Golfbreaks) was just 50 mins along the motorway from Portugal into Spain.
Key points were :
Staff at hotel and two clubhouses were friendly and attentive at all times.
Hotel far better than we had expected, rooms modern and clean, and very quiet.
We were on half board, breakfast buffet spot on, it was a set 4 course dinner at night, we'd have preferred a buffet, but could not fault the quality. Restaurant Manager very helpful if you wanted something different which was a nice touch.
A pint of Cruzcampo beer was 4.80 euros throughout the hotel and clubhouses.
We played the Old Course (300 yards from the Hotel) 3 times and the Links Course (a 10-15 min free of charge mini bus ride away from the hotel), also 3 times.
Two very different type of coures, and a pleasure to play both.
Both courses in excellent condition, the greens at both were amazing.
Buggies were 40 euros each but they had a discount deal of 30 euros per buggy if you booked and prepaid for 10 buggies (which savus us 100 euros), which we did on our first day.
No juice buggies on either course, so take plenty of water - it was roasting !
On our last night we went in to the local town of Ayamonte - 10 euro each way in a taxi - place was buzzing - plenty of bars & restuarants all close to the harbour. We found a chinese restuarant and it was excellent. Bars were selling pints of Cruzcampo for 4.00 euros. We should have gone into town more often !
No issues or complaints at all on our golf week, it was excellent, will definately return.
Perfect stay! Comfortable and clean apartment equipped with everything needed for a pleasant time. The apartment has a lovely terrace with a stunning view of the golf clubhouse. Check-in and check-out are perfectly handled by the lovely Carmen. I recommend this apartment.
all clear
This is a fantastic resort, the rooms were great and the staff could not do enough for us. There were 20 of us and no one could fault our stay. Played both courses a total of 5 times( 3 old and 2 links) over 7 days, some of the views are glorious. Take a walk into Ayamonte you will not be disappointed. It’s a bustling harbour town with great tapas. Would definitely recommend.
Beds comfy
Dials on cooker stuck on with sellotape
Plug in sink doesn’t fit, no drainer, makes washing up difficult.
All cupboards filled with nonsense, nowhere to put own shopping.
No kettle , one in cupboard but blows fuse when used
Kitchen light fitting hanging off.
Flattened flies and mosquito blood on bedroom walls not cleaned off.
Bed very noisy when you move
Had to buy a screwdriver to fix shower head attachment
Broken toilet seat in second bathroom
Had to buy air fresheners to mask the smell of drains
Not given access to underground carpark so had to park next to overgrown land. Get nettled getting in and out of car.
View over overgrown land and bins, which get emptied nearly every night in the middle of the night. Very noisy.
Yes it’s cheap. Get what you pay for.
Shady owner!!
Great apartment. Everything you need for a week. Wifi was decent and location was perfect.
Stayed on the complex last year, but in the apartments.Slightly disappointed with the rooms , although perfectly functional they were a bit old fashioned and a fairly long walk with clubs to the first tee. In fact two of our party decided to ring a cab to get from the apartments to the pro shop!! Although more expensive we decided to book the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Hotel rooms far superior , with modern furnishings, tea and coffee making facilities and super comfortable bed. Breakfast, as seems now standard in “golf “hotels, was extensive and excellent. The golf course was in super condition and although quite long and testing was playable for all standards of golfer. Hotel was very quiet for our visit ( pre season before Easter) but we found the staff very helpful and the room cleaners made an immaculate job. Hotel is a cab ride away from the town which we found a bit of a let down , however it was early season. Keen golfers, quiet couples break would all be well catered for in this hotel. Many other golf courses virtually on the doorstep.Booked through golf breaks at a great price. Highly recommended for some early season sunshine on a challenging golf course.
Habitación amplia para tres personas, con dos camas juntas para matrimonio y una de 90 en habitáculo adjunto. WC con ducha y bañera. Buena limpieza. Personal amable. Piscina pequeña, pero poco frecuentada. No dispone de socorrista. Buenas medidas antiCOVID en bufett de desayuno. En general todo muy bien
Golf course condition was good although it has been raining. Room was comfortable. Breakfast spread ok, restaurant food and price acceptable. Service by Restaurant staff was excellent
Recomiendo este hotel con encanto y un lugar fantástico.
