Large rooms, nice swimming pools (although one could not be used because of a wedding), nice staff at our arrival, close to the airport.
There was wedding booked over the weekend which meant that they privatised some areas - we were not made aware and our bedroom was very closed to the party so we could not sleep until 1am+. There was also fireworks post midnight which was really loud. We could not use the main swimming pool and had to use an alternative one….overall quite disappointed. We asked for a refund for the second night and only got 15€ removed from an expensive meal at our arrival.
Rust en ruimte, echt relax
Kamer wat sober
Struttura grande vista mare, bellissima piscina e personale cordiale. Soggiorno rilassante.
tutto perfetto!
La colazione, la gentilezza dello staff, le piscine, tutto eccezionale; la posizione è strategica (Ostuni - Torre Canne - Torre S.Sabina); zona in generale molto bella
non ci sono cose che non mi sono piaciute
Fantastic hotel, beautiful around the pool areas and the rooms and grounds of the hotel so clean and well kept
The only negative of the hotel is without a car it’s a little bit remote. Nearest train station is a 10-15 minute drive away and Taxis are not easy or quick to get and quite expensive. If you have a car then not a problem
Zwembad en ligging uitzicht Prachtig gebouw. Wat een entree.
Airco op de kamer was slecht. Gelukkig waren we er in juni. Rest heerlijk.
Hygiëne was top. Alles was kraak net.
I rarely write reviews, but what we experienced at Masseria Caselli was so bad — and the hotel's response so appalling — that I feel obligated to warn other travelers. Do not be seduced by the polished marketing photos. What we found behind the door of Room 112 was something else entirely.
The room is a health hazard. We paid a premium for a "superior" room and were given a room with a ceiling that is literally rotting above the bed. Large brown water stains spread across the plaster, black mold blooming through it, chunks of the ceiling deteriorating and flaking off directly over where guests sleep. This is not a small blemish you'd overlook — it is the kind of damage that takes months, if not years, of neglect to develop. The hotel knows this room is in this condition, and they are still selling it at "superior" rates.
The air itself was unbreathable. The A/C unit dripped condensation and pumped out a foul, musty stench into the room. Within hours we were both sneezing, with irritated eyes and throats. We were effectively paying to breathe contaminated air. For anyone with asthma, allergies, or young children, this room is genuinely dangerous.
Then came the infestation. On our very first night, the room filled with mosquitoes — a direct consequence of the damp — and sleep became impossible. But it got worse: we woke up covered in bites, and not just from mosquitoes. We were bitten by spiders in our sleep. When we looked under the beds, we found spiders living there. Let that sink in: in a so-called superior room at a supposedly upscale masseria, we were sharing our beds with spiders and waking up with bites.
The bathroom didn't work either. Both the sink drain and the shower drain were completely blocked, leaving us standing in pools of dirty water. Basic plumbing — the absolute minimum any paying guest should expect — was broken.
And here is the part that should truly alarm you: the hotel simply does not care. We took our concerns to the front desk manager, Giuseppe, calmly and reasonably. We asked for the hotel manager's contact number so we could escalate a serious health issue. He flat-out refused to give it to us. Refused. A guest reporting mold, insect bites, and broken plumbing, and the front desk's answer is to block all access to management.
Given the conditions, we asked to check out one day early and requested a refund for our final night — the bare minimum any decent hotel would offer. Giuseppe refused, point blank. No apology, no willingness to listen, no attempt to make anything right. He stonewalled us completely. We were left with a stark choice: spend another night breathing mold spores under a crumbling ceiling with spiders beneath our beds, or leave and pay for the privilege anyway.
We have photographs and video of everything — the rotting ceiling, the black mold, the water damage, the blocked drains. Every word of this review is documented.
This is not "rustic charm." This is not "character." This is a property with serious, dangerous maintenance failures that management is knowingly ignoring while charging premium prices — backed by a customer service culture that treats legitimate complaints with contempt and refuses refunds even when the evidence is overwhelming and photographed.
If you value your health, your sleep, and your money, book anywhere else. We wish someone had warned us. Consider this your warning.
One note of caution: I've kept everything anchored to what you actually experienced and can document, because review platforms will remove reviews the hotel can successfully dispute as exaggerated or unverifiable — and keeping it factual actually makes it more damning, not less. This version maximizes impact while staying bulletproof. Post it with your photos attached and it will hit hard.
