Cons:

I made my reservation through Booking.com, where I specifically booked a Deluxe Triple Room. However, upon arrival, I was assigned a Double Room while being charged at the Triple Room rate, which was also higher than the price originally displayed at the time of booking.
There was a noticeable discrepancy between the confirmed Booking.com rate and the amount charged by the hotel. When I raised this concern, the team acknowledged that an error had occurred on their part and later adjusted the amount from USD 168.07 to USD 143.05 under the half-board rate. While I appreciate the adjustment, it is important to highlight that the revised rate of USD 143.05 corresponds to a Deluxe Triple Room as per Booking.com, I was provided with only a Double Room.
What is particularly disappointing is that this issue was neither communicated nor clarified by the front office team at the time of check-in. It was only addressed after I brought it up, and even then, the matter was handled without full transparency.
As first-time guests, we had high expectations; however, this experience has unfortunately affected our overall impression of the hotel. Such inconsistencies and lack of proactive communication do not reflect the standards one would expect from a property of this level.

Ein Hotel mit Charme
Pros:

Die Lage ist einfach super. Direkt am See gelegen.
Das Gebäude ist in die Jahe gekommen, hat aber seinen Charme behalten.
Der Pool ist erstaunlich groß, so dass man hier richtig schwimmen kann.
Das Frühstück ist vielfältig und reichhaltig.

Ein Hotel, das in die Jahre gekommen ist und einige Renovationen nötig hätte
Pros:

Das Hotel ist ruhig an einem der vielen Seen gelegen. Das Personal war hilfsbereit und freundlich. Da das Hotel doch ein wenig abgelegen lag, haben wir uns entschlossen, auch dort zu essen. Das Abendessen in Form eines Buffets war hervorragend. Für uns das Highlight im Hotel.

Cons:

Wir wurden einem anderen Zimmer zugewiesen wie wir ursprünglich gebucht hatten. Dieses war wohl geräumig, aber völlig abgewohnt. Der Schrank war überall defekt. Der Duschkopf im Badezimmer konnte in der Höhe nicht verstellt werden, da die Halterung defekt war. Zudem war der Ventilator extrem laut. Von einem gebuchten Delux Superior Zimmer kann hier keine Rede sein.
Wir können unser Zimmer nicht weiterempfehlen.

Frühstück und Abendessen war sehr gut, ebenso idyllisch war die Lage des Hotels.

Cons:

Die Zimmer sind schon sehr indie Jahre gekommen und lassen an vergangene Glanzzeiten erinnern.

Great location with the view of the reservoir.

Staff was very helpful and friendly, everyone from the front desk to the restaurant.

Had the chance to meet and greet the senior management during the Christmas dinner. Good experience overall !

Room decor made it look dark and the toilets can benefit from an upgrade.

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the condition of the hotel room we stayed in on 20 th decmber 2025 at Heritage Hotel
As this is a 4-star hotel, we expected a high standard of cleanliness and service. Unfortunately, the room did not meet these expectations. We experienced the following issues:

No toothbrush was provided in the room 306

Towels, blanket, and bed sheets appeared used and not properly cleaned

The bathroom had a strong unpleasant smell, especially when the toilet was flushed

Overall hygiene and room maintenance were poor

While we appreciate the gesture of offering cakes and buns as an apology, this was not the purpose of our stay. We chose your hotel expecting quality service, comfort, and proper standards, not temporary compensation for serious issues related to cleanliness and hygiene.

These conditions caused significant discomfort and disappointment, and they do not reflect the standards of a 4-star hotel.

We kindly request that this matter be taken seriously and that appropriate corrective action be taken. We also expect a proper explanation and suitable resolution for this experience.

Pros:

A decent tourist hotel that was mostly comfortable. Unfortunately our stay coincided with a very destructive cyclone which limited our ability to see local sights or even leave the hotel. The hotel and staff did their best to accommodate a lot of frustrated and frightened guests. We appreciate their efforts. We wish Sri Lanka the best on these very difficult times.
