Pros:

We were allowed to check in early which was great. Our room was at rear of property so a little quieter apart from the building site.

Cons:

Shower was very ordinary, no chair in room, no hanging space.

Great location in the centre of town
Pros:

Lovely comfy bed and great location. Kieran, the barman, was really helpful and friendly.

Cons:

No bedside lamp - one was provided on the second day. Radiator didn't work.

A confirmed booking left us stranded on a Saturday night after a seven-hour drive SCAMMERS => AVOID

This booking was not honoured and was a SCAM.

We arrived late on Saturday night after a seven-hour drive, only to be told by staff that our confirmed room was suddenly unavailable because of supposed “building works”.
We had received no prior warning whatsoever that the hotel could not honour our confirmed booking. Had we been informed in advance, we could obviously have made alternative arrangements.
Instead, after a seven-hour journey, we arrived expecting the accommodation we had booked and paid for, only to be told there was no room for us and no accommodation available. We were effectively put out onto the street late on a Saturday night and left to find alternative accommodation ourselves.
The explanation about unexpected “building works” was extremely difficult to believe, particularly given that nobody contacted us before our arrival. It gave us the strong impression that our room had simply been resold to another guest and that the hotel chose not to tell us.
Whatever the actual reason, accepting and confirming a booking, failing to notify the guests that the room is unavailable, and then turning them away when they arrive late at night is completely unacceptable.

BED BUGS - Do not stay here. We cannot get a refund. We didn’t stay here

Couldn't stay as hotel closed - refund expected asap
Cons:

Hotel was closed when our driver turned up - still waiting for your response regarding a refund.
Was sold a room by Booking.com that had been blocked off by the hotel .Other customers affected too.

It was okay but I wouldn’t go there again
Pros:

Disappointed with the bathroom and toilet shared with bar staff friends down the corridor from my room. Manager didn’t show me the back door entrance so when I went out early in the morning I was effectively locked out til a taxi driver helped me locate the gate in other street down a garden - not helpful and fairly distressing as I walked my fig at 6.30 am !!

We would definitely use it again and it was value for money
Pros:

It was right in the centre of barnard castle with a bus stop outside so you can visit elsewhere if you want

Cons:

We liked the property and the staff were excellent they are doing some refurbishment but it didn’t spoil our stay the manageress was lovely she could have done enough for us
