Nice old hotel with great views
Pros:

Lovely old hotel with fantastic views from our room. Staff very friendly. Great location right next to ferry dock, don't know if this would make it a noisy location in high season.

Great location, great stay in Varenna
Pros:

The location was perfect, easy to walk from the train station, it’s right by the port and a lovely walk into and around Varenna.
We stayed in an attic room, lovely big bed with everything we needed. Breakfast was perfect, staff so friendly, they couldn’t have done more for us.

Cons:

It’s an old property which means you can hear everything going on. We heard our neighbors unlock their door, open the door, flush the toilet….it wasn’t a problem but if you are a light sleeper like me, you’ll want to use the earplugs provided.

The location was great, close to the restaurants and beautiful lake views

Cons:

The hotel is dated, but in a gracious way, the fixtures are authentic and appear to be original to when it was built which we understand from reception was approx 1880.
