The first room assigned to us had a leaking air-conditioning unit that had apparently not been repaired before our arrival. As a result, the carpet was wet and there was an unpleasant smell in the room.

I reported the issue to the front desk immediately, and they kindly moved us to the room next door. However, shortly after settling into the new room, a loud emergency fire evacuation announcement was made. We were instructed to leave our room on the 14th floor and use the emergency stairs to evacuate. The announcement came as a shock and we had to make our way downstairs.

However, after checking with the front desk, it was actually a fire drill but we had not been notified about the scheduled drill during check-in, which made the experience particularly stressful and unsettling for my family.

Great location to visit Birmingham. Recommended for families with children.
Pros:

Location and cleanliness, good breakfast selection and the kids loved the pancake maker.
Even though the parking is not available on site, the available discount for the parking at the nearby multistory car park was very useful and with a fair price.

Cons:

I feel like some bits around the hotel could do with little maintenance but note these were minor issues noticed around the facilities that did not have any major impact in our stay but could help with fixing for a better 1st impression.
