The location in downtown Palo Alto is great, if that's what your looking for. And the Nobu restaurant is of course delicious. The rooms are nicely decorated. The staff was friendly.
However, as one of the most expensive (if not the most expensive) hotels in a wealthy city like Palo Alto, I was expecting a more luxurious experience. The room was nicely designed and perfectly comfortable, but I wouldn't call it luxurious. There was no grand lobby, beautiful garden, or killer fitness center. The gym was fine but small and the lobby was also fine but small. There is only one elevator so you sometimes have to wait a bit for it or take the stairs, which are kind of dirty and banged up since they're really intended as fire escape stairs (I assume). The staff was very nice, but again, I had been expecting to be impressed by outstanding luxury service, and I definitely was not.

Great rooms, exceptional toilets with fully customizable bidet functions. Our first room was too elevator-adjacent but they moved it with no issues! Excellent restaurant downstairs. Super nice and accommodating staff. Good location.
I had high expectations for NOBU, but was very disappointed by a basic design flaw in the room: the drapes don’t fully cover the windows, leaving a large gap between the drapes and the wall. As a result, the room was flooded with light by 6 AM every morning. For a hotel at this price point, proper blackout functionality should be standard. Unfortunately, this made restful sleep impossible. Would not recommend for light-sensitive travelers.
