I liked the ambiance of the darker lights, more relaxing that bright lights that usually light hotels. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. I would totally come back for a longer stay.
My room was on the 1st floor closer to the highway so a little noisy during the peak traffic, but hey, someone has to have that room lol. The bathroom mirror needed a brighter light for doing make up.

We were charged for mini bar items that we didn't consume

Room was extremely small and poorly maintained. The TV did not work and the staff advised that they were unable to do anything about it.

Ovolo is usually my favourite place to stay in Canberra. I love the ambience and cosy atrium rooms for a great nights sleep, so quiet. Admittedly since the changes to management, I miss the free drink in happy hour for hotel guests, and the free bar fridge in the rooms, it was so fun before getting the snack pack and all the perks. It still is very attractive though, unbeatable ambience and architecture. It's not as lively now, and the restaurant which is stunning is not used for breakfasts or dinners anymore. Sorry about that!
Sadly the fireplace in the restaurant/bar/lounge area was not working. This is a major draw card for me in winter, it was even a bit cold in that area. I feel like there should have been a complimentary warming drink & snack! So disappointing for our two night getaway, but obviously a temporary inconvenience awaiting repair.
Terrific hotel with very comfortable rooms.
Only 1 water in room. Minor issue but I would have thought 2 water bottles would be standard.
Staff very busy downstairs so service was a little slow.

There was no place to work in the room- poor design. The TV signal kept dropping out. The lunch order was oily with calamari I suspect being cooked at wrong temperature or old oil.
Close to the conference Venue
1. Room fixtures were dusty -Lamp shades, chairs needed dusting
2. Lack of clear signs to guide guests from the lifts to restaurant/ toilets/parking
3. No parking spots for the guests - paid parking only
4. Service at the restaurant - delayed and though all the waiters were polite - tables were not numbered causing errors in serving the food - waiters were asking at each table what the guests had ordered -our food was served to other guests and we were waiting for a long time - the food was ok
The style, the cinema downstairs and the food from Monster…delicious and the lively helpful staff
Room was quite dark but still lovely
Loved our room .. clean etc plus nice atmosphere downstairs
NO parking for hotel guests … which means extra expense …. Just be aware … think $35 overnight charge …
The room
We stay every year. Some things have dipped in standard. Simple things like the nature noises playing in the corridor when going to the room. The restaurant was shut for breakfast and dinner. Many drinks were not available over the bar. The things in the bar fridge used to be free. There used to be bathrobes…simple things.
