Location was great

Cons:

No soap, was told they ran out. Sheets very stiff almost dirty feeling. Used only blanket due to horrible feeling.

I will most likely not stay at this hotel again.
Pros:

The room was spacious. The bathroom and the shower were nice. There was plenty of hot water for my shower.

Cons:

There could have been a desk to sit at for working on the computer. There was plenty of unused space to accommodate one. The bed was as hard as the floor. I have never been so uncomfortable in a bed in my life. The breakfast was just plain bad.

Excellent location, walking distance to many restaurants and shopping
Pros:

The room, the location, the fire pit and the breakfast. The breakfast exceeded my expecations.

Cons:

I was here two yrs ago and the property was really well decorated with fall theme like pumpkins, flowers, corn husks etc. This year there were no decorations, some of the property lights were burned out.
While I enjoyed the fire pit, it would have been nice to have kept on until 10 pm. The fire pit was shut off before 9:30pm.

VERY, VERY disappointed in room and staff

The location is great. Front desk people were nice when I checked in and nice when I said I was leaving, even after I showed him why. He said there would be no charge for my leaving. He wasn't going to run my card and that there would be no charge at all. I thought that was nice. Until.....

Cons:

The room I was sent to was NASTY. Every where I looked was OMG!!! I could NOT bring myself to even think of staying there. I had the guy from the from desk come to the room. I showed him "here, here, here", etc. As said, he told me that he would NOT run my card. I found out, that my card was held for $165.84. My booking confirmation statement said I would only be charged $140.84. After talking to my credit card company, they said that the Palmer House was holding my card for the $165.84 amount. I explained to them what happened. They asked me, to ask him, to "release" that payment. When I called the Palmer House and explained it to him, he was adamant that he had NOT charged my card. He didn't charge it, but for some reason, that amount was being held. When I asked him to release it, he told me "no", "that he didn't have time" and that "he would not do that". I was pissed!! I called my credit card company back. They said that if it wasn't released after 15 days, that I could dispute the charge. It was, but not until the 15 days was up, even though I had NOT stayed there. I waited to write this review because, honestly, I did not trust him. "fool me once...." Yes, I DO have several pictures, but even those do not tell the whole story. The bed skirting was dirty and not even pulled up all the way, the fitted sheet was on upside down, the floors had not been vacuumed, the couch had dog hair on it, there was a ceiling fan over the bed that had not been cleaned in who knows when. The shower curtain in the tub was badly mildewed. There was more, much more. VERY disappointed in the desk staff, cleaning staff. I can understand why I never see any vehicles in their parking lot.

Housecleaning missed cleaning our room and it became messy, trash builded up and floors were dirty.
Pros:

The bathroom was nice however, they did not provide enough towels. We had to request more towels.

Cons:

The beds were subpar. They squeak when you sit on it and it sounds like the springs are going to crack.

Beautiful property with great potential to be a fabulous resort but it needs a lot of work and upkeep

Cons:

It’s run down and dirty. Check in is at 3pm, we checked into our assigned room at 3:30, upon entering the room it was already occupied. Waited for the room to be cleaned. We went to the store and bought cleaning supplies and sheets to clean up ourselves. The furniture was visibly dirty, the tub and sink were dirty. Sitting at breakfast, everyone that went to the front desk had complaints about their room. We didn’t dare use the swimming pools or hot tub

A huge disappointment
Pros:

This property has so much potential but unfortunately is poorly managed and barely maintained.
When we arrived at our room, the smell was terrible! We found blown light bulbs, extension cords running under the bed because outlets do not work. Television did not work. No ice available. Maintenance showed up to replace bulbs and told us they'd give us a new remote for the Television. Unfortunately, the "new" remote did not work either. On the 3rd day of our 6-night stay, we had to go to the office and ask for someone to please come empty our trash and give us new towels. That was the one- and only-time housekeeping showed up during our 6-night stay! We had to go to the office to ask for toilet paper. The pool area was disgusting and a safety hazard as there is an old concrete hot tub attached to the outdoor pool that is empty and an accident waiting to happen. Walls were paper thin and we could hear the neighbors calling every other motel in town to try and get out of there. Staffs reply to all complaints or concerns was "I understand" and "we are short staffed". If there were any other rooms available in town we wouldn't have stayed more than a day. This place gives the Choice Hotel brand a bad name. Do yourself a favor and book any other place in Manchester other than The Palmer House!

Used to be a great place, sadly mismanaged.
Pros:

We have loved coming here for many years and we’re really disappointed at the poor management this year.

The staff was friendly, but the first room we checked into the bathtub was filthy. We moved to another room and there was only 1 set of towels. The tv needed to be reset, but at least this room was clean.

The second night we had booked for one of the luxury rooms, which were booked for the first night so we reserved a room the second night. Unfortunately, when we went to check into it, it was no longer available? So they gave us a similar room and it was very nice. But again had to call to get the tv to work (someone had put it into the wrong connection). But no big deal. Normally the hot tub rooms have 4 sets of towels, there were only 2, but at least there were 2, so we didn’t bothere to get anymore, wasn’t worth the trouble to go back to the office yet again.

The pool had not been unlocked in the morning, so I had to get them to open it.(again maintenance was on vacation. It happens,) Luckily it was still open when I went back in the afternoon to swim. All the towels were in the used bin, so I had to go and get more from the office. Looked like they had not been washed in a number of days, the used bin was full to overflowing! The pool itself was filthy, lots of debris on the bottom of the pool and many bugs and even a plastic cup floating around the top. The water was below inches the level for the skimmer to work automatically, I did go in anyway, but the pool was pretty gross.

Then at check out, we discovered that they now charge a resort fee. Not a whole lot, but still… I resent them charging for the dirty pool, we didn’t use any of the other amenities. This was the first year that they charged for this and didn’t inform us of the change when we checked in.

Sadly, we have decided that this is our last time to come to this inn.
