The bathroom was nice however, they did not provide enough towels. We had to request more towels.
The beds were subpar. They squeak when you sit on it and it sounds like the springs are going to crack.
Staff was very friendly and helpful
Room was musty, not, particularly clean. For the price, breakfast was ridiculous. Furnishings were old. Pillows were extremely uncomfortable.
Beautiful property with great potential to be a fabulous resort but it needs a lot of work and upkeep
It’s run down and dirty. Check in is at 3pm, we checked into our assigned room at 3:30, upon entering the room it was already occupied. Waited for the room to be cleaned. We went to the store and bought cleaning supplies and sheets to clean up ourselves. The furniture was visibly dirty, the tub and sink were dirty. Sitting at breakfast, everyone that went to the front desk had complaints about their room. We didn’t dare use the swimming pools or hot tub
We have loved coming here for many years and we’re really disappointed at the poor management this year.
The staff was friendly, but the first room we checked into the bathtub was filthy. We moved to another room and there was only 1 set of towels. The tv needed to be reset, but at least this room was clean.
The second night we had booked for one of the luxury rooms, which were booked for the first night so we reserved a room the second night. Unfortunately, when we went to check into it, it was no longer available? So they gave us a similar room and it was very nice. But again had to call to get the tv to work (someone had put it into the wrong connection). But no big deal. Normally the hot tub rooms have 4 sets of towels, there were only 2, but at least there were 2, so we didn’t bothere to get anymore, wasn’t worth the trouble to go back to the office yet again.
The pool had not been unlocked in the morning, so I had to get them to open it.(again maintenance was on vacation. It happens,) Luckily it was still open when I went back in the afternoon to swim. All the towels were in the used bin, so I had to go and get more from the office. Looked like they had not been washed in a number of days, the used bin was full to overflowing! The pool itself was filthy, lots of debris on the bottom of the pool and many bugs and even a plastic cup floating around the top. The water was below inches the level for the skimmer to work automatically, I did go in anyway, but the pool was pretty gross.
Then at check out, we discovered that they now charge a resort fee. Not a whole lot, but still… I resent them charging for the dirty pool, we didn’t use any of the other amenities. This was the first year that they charged for this and didn’t inform us of the change when we checked in.
Sadly, we have decided that this is our last time to come to this inn.
When I arrived at the property, I found the hotel closed. I called the phone number posted on the door multiple times but received no assistance. I also checked the lockbox where late check-in keys are usually left, but there was no key available for my reservation.
I then contacted the phone number provided in my Booking reservation and spoke with a representative associated with Palmer House Hotels. He attempted to contact the hotel staff but was unable to reach anyone. After trying to help, he informed me that there was no way for me to access the accommodation and advised me to book another hotel.
As a result, I was left without accommodation late at night and had to urgently find and book a different hotel nearby. After a long journey, I spent a significant amount of time trying to contact the property and secure a safe place to stay. The situation caused considerable inconvenience, stress. I don’t recommend it to anyone.
There was nothing I liked about this property.
From start to finish, the stay was absolutely awful. Our room was not ready at 3pm as was supposed to be and the staff could really care less. When it was finally ready, the smell of urine hit you in the face as soon as we opened the door. There were aunts and other bugs all over. Black mold was in the bathroom. In the morning we went to grab a quick breakfast (well before the 11am check out time) before packing the car go home and we lost access to our room with our key. The “maid service” let us back in.
Billed and branded as a resort, this is a mediocre hotel with major problems. Our room had stains in the bathtub; the TV worked but the picture was oddly proportioned and couldn’t be properly controlled; the room wasn’t cleaned for the first two days despite multiple requests to get it cleaned; the fridge froze our food, ruining it, and we couldnt adjust the temperature; request for towels were not timely answered; the pool was nice but the hot tub was empty/not working; breakfast was stale bread and mediocre muffins, pre-fried eggs and packaged cereal; the towels and sheets were not comfortable; toiletries were minimal and poor in quality; furniture was worn and the bed very hard. They charged a 15/day resort fee for absolutely nothing. There aren’t even phones in the room so you have to go to the front desk to complain about each thing. On the good side, the room was nicely cleaned when they finally got to it on our 3rd day, and our air conditioner worked well on a very hot day. The room was spacious; the pillows were good. Location, just outside of the center of town, was good. The grounds are large.
The room was great; lots of space; very comfortable and well- appointed. We also enjoyed the outdoor facilities around the fire-pit, and the indoor tables and chairs set up for guests in the lobby…Very nice! The desk staff was very friendly. The breakfast wasn’t over the top, but sufficient.
We were disappointed with the housekeeping staff. We were with a party of 4 couples in 4 separate rooms, and were staying 3 nights. Housekeeping did not make the beds or tend to any of the rooms after the first night in any of our rooms, even though we all had been assured that we would have make-up service daily. We did get room service the next day but probably only because we spoke to the desk about the lack of service, and even then, housekeeping did not do a thorough job. We were disappointed in the lack of attentiveness with this service.
Beautiful well kept grounds. Walking distance to town. Great firepit. Nice thick towels and lots of hot water in the shower
Furniture in the room was very dated and worn. No refrigerator or microwave as described in the listing; however they did bring us a refrigerator when we brought it to their attention. The room smelled very musty and was unpleasant.
Location: closeness to town is the ONLY thing that Palmer House has in its favor. There was a clean bed, clean towels, and ample hot water.
Totally tapped out accommodations. Shouldn't rank above 3.5 on any scale. Rooms severely dated, upholstered furniture too scary to think of sitting on, windows could not be locked shut, dirty floors and mirrors, dirty mini-frig in freezer section, indoor pool surface flaking off and no way you would go in, hot tub was hot but water quality questionable, gym equipment was a safety hazard. I honestly slept lightly because I didn't feel safe. Once our expectations were lowered, Continental breakfast was ok: coffee-machine coffee, over-easy eggs and sausage patties edible. But, sorry to say this once grand place now needs a lot of TLC. Shame on us for not reading all the reviews.
Stayed in unit 72, one of the big ones on the pond. Beautiful location, lots of space and room for the kids to play. Tennis Court, nightly fire pit was a great place to hang out.
Indoor pool and fitness area need lots of work. I reported the coffee maker broken and Air Conditioning out on day one of a 4 day stay and nothing was done.
Mt room was not ready when I arrived. Was told that 2 housekeepers had walked out a couple of days ago. When I got to my suite I found ants on kitchen counter and fridge door would not close. I reported this to Michael at front desk and he was the only nice experience I had of this stay). He told me someone would look into it but I saw the housekeeoers parking up and leave. I was mixed to another room. When I opened fridge there was half an ice cream cup and half a sub sandwich. Also no towels, no soap. I went to the pool, surface paint all peeling. This was my 4th and will be my last stay here.
Good welcome, spacious room, plenty on site facilities such as pool, tennis etc' if you wanted them, lovely grounds and surroundings.
continental breakfast was poor. Limited choice and no fresh fruit. Poor quality food and not very communicative receptionist.
Friendly staff, clean comfortable and convenient to downtown Manchester.
Location
No microwave not a good breakfast was ok
The front desk people are nice.
The rooms aren't clean. There was a move in the kitchenette. The house keeping is bad. Ignore this place.
