The location is excellent. Right opp the ferry terminal.
Hotel Caravelas is well-situated in Madalena and has (some) free onsite parking.
Room was a bit stuffy and the hotel amenities were empty during our off-season visit.
Location, 5 minutes walk to ferry terminal, 15 minutes by car to airport, many nice restaurants in walking distance, gorgeous views across to Horta / Faial, breakfast was good, beds were good and comfortable, free and easy parking, room and bathroom clean, fresh towels and good selection of soap, etc. Not a living room but excellent price performance for the typical sightseeing visitor. Pico is an amazing place and this hotel makes it very easy and enjoyable to experience everything.
The room as just big enough- ok, but not overwhelming. Opening breakfast at 7:30 sharp is tough when one has to catch an early flight. We understand that it is not worthwhile to start breakfast earlier just because a few have to leave early. Just an idea. Put one of the three coffee machines and some cake into the hallway / lobby right before the breakfast room and everyone is happy. A small user guide on how to operate the AC / heater would also be helpful, because the labels on the remote are not self-explanatory - even for a technic nerd. Finding out how to use it by trial and error is possible but takes a lot of time. Room had a bathtub - no shower, which requires climbing in / out of the tub every day.
Great location. The room was very comfortable and it had a nice big bathroom. Good breakfast with lots of selection. Good restaurants in walking distance. Most of all excellent value for the money.
At breakfast there was a strong floral odour in the air which might have been coming from a cleaning cart left right by the coffee machine. So off-putting and so unnecessary these days. Eco cleaners are effective without the overpowering scent.

Hotel muito bem localizado, no centro da vila da Madalena e junto à Gare Marítima. Uma ótima vista para a ilha do Faial. Espaços interiores muito agradáveis e quartos confortáveis.
