Very good value (less than 150 rmb per day), fridge, simple cooking set, but humidity marks on the walls. 5mn walk to the beach. Noisy because of construction work happening around, bad luck. Many restaurants and facilities around the hotel. Very helpful management guys.
From the hotel it takes 5 minutes to walk to Dadonghai Beach . I stayed on the 16 th floor in a nice , clean AC-room ( with seaview balcony ) with kingsize bed and a private bathroom ( hot and cold water , rainshower , ... ) . Big tv with english spoken movies . Wifi ok .
Breakfast is a buffet ( local and european ) . Too bad that the fried noodles and the fried rice are cold !? The coffee they serve here does not deserve the name " coffee " !
What disturbed me the most are the elevators . It can take a very long time to get from your room to the restaurant ( 5 th floor ) , the reception ( 6 th floor ) or the first floor and back ..... !!!
Most off the staff does not speak english , only chinese and russian . Some do their best to help you .
I found someone who spoke english .
Lucky me .....
The hotel couldn't find our booking so we waited for over 30 minutes in the lobby that had no air conditioning.
We wanted to get some chopsticks to the room, and was told to go the kitchen to get them ourselves.
The breakfast wasn't good.
The upside is the room was on a high floor with a good view and was clean. However, there was no door on the bathroom.
Strange for us, as a family, to have reception so higher up on storie. Views from room is amazing. Short stroll to attractions. Chinese groups, looked like from different different parts of China staying. Bad part, my family did not like the food at all. Maybe, acquired taste is to blame.
If you don’t say speak Chinese or Russian be aware there is no one to speak to expect from google translate at the front desk. Absolutely zero in service awareness!
I was waiting for 70 minutes for someone to open the safe in my room after it was “fixed” the previous night.
And guess what? Your time worth nothing for them. No compensation at all.
Too bad because the hotel has great potential.
Room doesn’t look International 5 star hotel to me but still acceptable with the price I pay. Reception is at level 6 and is friendly (maybe because I knew Mandarin). Overall a good stay for me and my friend
Was on 28th floor with a sea view... sunset view from balcony was terrific.. could not stop taking pictures.. the room is furnished well except for the curtain that separates the washroom and bedroom, abit inconvenient if with friends. Overall, stay is comfortable.
If you are looking for something cheap, you can stay in this hotel, the sttaff can’t speak english and the check in is very slow. The beach is very near and you have small shops around and a big mall. It is difficult to find western food. Just Mc Donnalds and Pizza Hut
Not one member of staff speaks English. No one makes an effort. The Air conditioning in the rooms do not work. There is no bar. Unfriendly unhelpful staff. Crowded slow lifts. Tiny pool..Dirty fixtures and fittings..
Well located, just 5 mns from the beach. You can find restaurants and shops nearby.
Family room are big (2 rooms, one living-room and one bathroom), and some have balcony.
Fridge is very small and there is no micro wave.
There is one outdoor swimming-pool and a small gym with some old equipment (no running machine).
There are only 2 elevators.
Breakfast is almost the same every day.
Reception on the 6th floor,Good hotel with good views from the rooms or just on side of the building balconies.Good size, comfortable rooms, with big balconies.Breakfast is good, placed on the 5th floor, buffet style.Short, maybe 5mins walk to the beach(The hotel has private sunbeds).Lots of little restaurants and markets around.A bit of problem when checking out(staff don't speak much English) and manager lady asked me to pay for another two days(hotel booked for 4 days) apparently paid only for two days,so make sure you get your receipt when you pay(we didn't).Luckily the guy who was checking us in was present and found, that we paid,in the computer.Otherwise we were really happy with everything.
Stayed for 3 nights. Booked double room at early bird discounted price. I requested a non-smoking room and reiterated my request on check-in. They called up housekeeping to confirm this and even upgraded me for free to a nicer room with partial sea view balcony on 22nd floor. It was spacious, well furnished and reasonably clean with modern shower room.
To get to the hotel, several public buses available from both the airport and Sanya train station, just get off at Summer Mall stop then it's a short walk around the corner to the hotel. Lots of restaurants and shops close by. Dadonghai Beach is about 5 mins walk. Take the free hotel shuttle bus the first time so you know how to get to the hotel's small private section of beach with sun loungers and beach umbrellas. Extra beach towels provided in room.
Friendly front desk and housekeeping staff. I can speak basic Chinese so managed ok. Not sure about their English, I saw one Russian member of staff clearing breakfast tables. Hotel pool was small but nice alternative as quieter and cleaner than the beach.
Vast majority of clientele were Chinese and Russian which meant things were rather chaotic at breakfast time with everyone trying to grab their food first (orderly queuing obviously not part of their cultures). Breakfast buffet was included in my room rate, wide choice of mostly Chinese dishes with fruit and cakes, average quality by Chinese standards.
Some negatives: weak wifi signal from my room, kept getting drop outs. Only Chinese language TV channels available. Elevators did take a long time as others reported, they didn't seem to be optimally programmed but not a big problem unless you are in a real hurry.
As others have mentioned, be careful with any chargeable items in the room. These are clearly labelled but only in Chinese. I didn't use anything but found an invoice in my room on the third day for a small personal item (ahem!). I immediately challenged this with front desk and after some investigation they said it was a mix up and they should have charged it to the previous guest. Free: small bottles of water, tea bags and basic toiletries. Chargeable: bigger bottles of water, shrink wrapped brand name toiletries, playing cards, condoms.
Overall, decent accommodation conveniently located in Dadonghai. If you're just looking for some relaxing beach/pool time with modern conveniences but don't want to spend too much then this is a very good budget alternative to the luxury top brand resorts.
The lobby of this hotel is on the 6th floor. Check-in was fairly good - the staff couldn't speak English but we couldn't speak Chinese so fair's fair. We had a C-trip reservation and they let us check-in early (around 12:30) for our 2 night stay which was great.
Our room was on the 28th of 35 floors. All floors are serviced by just 3 elevators so sometimes it's a bit of a wait but at least they run pretty fast. Our room 2822 facing the Bay was very nice - large, bright and furnished functionally well with lots of places to put your things. The bathroom was modern, bright and completely functional. The shower was terrific with good water pressure and lots of hot and cold water. The balcony with 2 chairs and a small table was great with views past the building in-front to either side - very pleasant for the price. The towels and linens were of a very high quality, and they also provided pool/beach towels. Each of the very hard twin beds had 2 comfortable pillows. The free wifi worked pretty good in the room although slowed down quite a bit at peak usage times. The room also had a mini-fridge, hairdryer, kettle and a safe. The lighting was very good and there were enough plugs for all the gadgets. House keeping was good - they change towels daily and bed linens every two days. Our room safe didn't work and the cleaning lady helped me get a working one in a willingly and friendly manner even though we couldn't communicate via language.
The location was great - a few minutes walk to the boardwalk and long sandy beach, a few minutes walk the other way to the bus stop, a big grocery store in the basement, and loads of restaurants and shops all around. The street that the hotel lobby faces is especially 'pretty' - small and local feeling with a smattering of local and tourist shops.
The buffet breakfast was huge and the quality was good. Even for me I found some wonderful Chinese things to eat. A few of the western things were done not too well, and the coffee and tea were poor - but oh, well. It was well staffed and they did a tremendous job re-stocking the food as required. We really enjoyed it and had fun watching the local tourists 'tuck in'.
Sanya was our first stop in China and I like to call it the 'sensitive person's introduction to China' - quite a gentle experience.
I had a confirmed reservation with this hotel that I had booked through Booking.com.
When I arrived at the hotel at 11.30 pm from the airport I saw a very large group pf Chinese tourists checking in.
I waited for a long time before checking in and when it was my turn to check in, they told me they could not find my reservation.
I then checked my email inbox and found an email about my hotel reservation being cancelled. This happened while I was flying to Sanya.
The hotel cancelled my reservation while I was making my way to the hotel so they could give prioriity to that large Chinese group checking in.
I had to get my own laptop, go to the booking.com website and make another reservation with another hotel. All of this at MIDNIGHT!!
Not a pleasant experience
