Location
Very poor
The room was big, great view and big semi private terrace. Had two luggage racks - great for two people travelling together.
There is a pool and it is right on the beach
Issues with the room - the kitchenette had very litte in dishes, cookware etc - despite having a full size fridge, oven and cooktop couldnt really cook - no dishcloths etc.
Bed - mattress very soft and pillows flat and uncomfortable
The real issue however, is that the hotel is trying to cater more to cruise crowd (often 2 - 4 huge cruise ships a day in harbour) and we felt like second rate citizens as paying guests IN the hotel. They sell pool access to people outside the hotel for the day, so the TINY pool gets quickly crowded by cruise passengers. Towels for the pool are additinal cost $3/towel and you pay it everytime you exchange a towel - as guests IN the hotel. Paying guests are treated like the cruise passengers and pay additionally for everything.
The worst part was the noise, Bright lights on all day and music blaring not just from the pool area but from the neighbouring properties, so you are inundated with 2 to 3 competing music, blaring at the same time. Not conducive to relaxing or reading by the pool. We couldn't even really use our balcony as it oerlooked the pool and the music was just as loud.
Also once the cruises leave, everything shuts down and finding a restaurant to eat after 7 pm is VERY challenging - not the hotels fault, but think carefully about staying in Phillipsburg.
If this is your vibe, you'll enjoy this hotel, but personally we would steer well clear of Phillipsburg if we come back.
The pool and beach was great.
Very poor sound mitigation. Hallway sounds too loud in rooms.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel.
not applicable
We enjoyed the pool and the staff around the pool. They were always smiling and extremely helpful.
We didn't like the high price for such a small room with a limited view which was just adequately clean.
The location was good and for $120 per night I guess we got what we paid for.
The desk staff was frankly rude and unhelpful. Almost seemed biased against Americans. Half of the outlets didn’t work in the room. Security felt poor as there were hooligans smoking weed and making noise in the pool after midnight and they clearly weren’t guests, they were also heard in The halls on the 2nd floor.
Didn't have breakfast but dinner was poor...and the staff was not polite and friendly..the presentation when dinner was served was very poor
I didn't like that there was no immediate parking at the hotel..therefore we walked back and forth to get to our rental..no meal was free and there was no kitchenette the closet was halfway broken the bed sheets for my sons bed had a visible tear the walls are dirty and marked up
The young lady at the front desk she was kind, helpful and patient. she really try her best to help.
What was display on line is not what u see when u arrived there. we didn't like it at all i would recommended anyone. the room was out dated and horrible and very expensive.
