This place is amazing. Staff are helpful and polite . The reception is grand and the whole place smells amazing. Room has everything you need and bed is easy the get a great nights sleep . So quiet where it’s located but just a walk away from everything in Barcelona . Didn’t use the pool on the roof as it’s not heated and it was locked . This is a great base to explore the city

A spectacular hotel in the middle of the Gothic quarter in Barcelona. We were greeted with a positive smile and received a lovely goodbye.
Amazing vintage decor with the most comfortable bed ever, the best shower we have ever encountered, with great settings and really good water pressure.
The Taxi from the airport took us straight to the front door. An excellent location to walk to many places to visit in Barcelona.
We would certainly recommend this hotel and return again in the near future.

Charming hotel in a very convenient location in the Gothic Quarter. Easy to walk anywhere. Metro station not more than 10 minutes by an easy walk. Although it does not have a restaurant, there is one right next door, as well as a coffee shop right across the street.

This is an historic building with character, something we deliberately sought. Still, we had both a large bedroom area and living area, which was able to sleep two more adults. The room included a cooktop, refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom had a full tub and a rain shower head high enough for tall guests.

The staff were very accommodating and conversant in English.

This is one of my all-time favorite hotels. The accomdations and the service is top tier. It is convenient to all of the food and fun in the Gothic Quarters of Barcelona. My room was fabulous and I love that I could cook in my room if I wanted. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful, which for me makes or breaks any experience for me in the service industry.
I had friends who stayed at the hotel and heard the rooms are all unique. I was in Room 54, which is AMAZING!
I hope to stay at Hotel Arai again when I return to Barcelona.

Hotel was in an excellent location - short walk to La Rambla.
Room was spotlessly clean & smelled lovely. Comfortable & plenty of space for 2 adults & 2 teens. Separate sofa beds was a perfect set up for us.
Staff were friendly & very helpful.
It was a little noisy at night time but nothing that you wouldn’t expect in a big city & it didn’t spoil our stay.

I found the hotel to be very clean, very comfortable with excellent help from the staff. Located in the gothic area of Barcelona, plenty of good eats close by and a short walk to the marina.

Fantastic location that is in walkung distance to many attractions, and metro stops to further afield. Fantastic shops and places to eat out within a 2 min walk.

Good location, excellent and helpful staff. Our room had lots of space and a good shower and bathroom counter to get ready but poor lighting for doing hair/makeup. Having a kitchen area was great and the bed was comfortable with lots of extra cushions. We liked staying in the gothic quarter near las Rambla and walkable to other attractions. Would recommend this historic hotel.

Absolutely Horrible Stay. Do Not Book Here.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was the worst experience of my life. On my last day, I discovered that my safe had been tampered with. I had locked it multiple times (I double-check constantly due to OCD), and yet when I went to check out, realized it was open. My $5,000 diamond ring and €1,000 in cash were stolen.

When I reported this to management, they promised to call me back with an update but never did. It’s been over a week, and I’ve heard absolutely nothing. Their response at the time was dismissive and unprofessional — no concern, no investigation, no help. I already posted this review on Google, and the lack of follow-up confirms just how little they care about guests.

On top of that, the hotel itself is the loudest and most chaotic place I’ve ever stayed. Guests were partying outside until 6–7 AM, and walls are paper-thin — you hear everything from other rooms. Sleep is impossible. Even when asking for something as simple as extra coffee pods, staff made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

The entire stay gave off a terrible, unsafe energy. Combine that with theft, cold service, and zero accountability, and it’s clear this property is not worth the money or risk. I spent 2.5 weeks in Spain staying at multiple hotels and never once had an issue — only here.

If you value your belongings, your peace of mind, or even the chance of a decent night’s sleep, stay far away from this place.

They left a bottle of wine in the room for our anniversary.

We loved this hotel so much, I'd go so far as to say it is my favourite ever. The welcome was warm, the place is pristine and the rooms lovely. They are large enough so that if (like us) you have the sofa bed pulled out it can stay out without getting in your way. The sofa bed is also a very good quality one and my daughter was really comfortable in it.

Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the square - for the first 3 nights you could only hear a 'hum' of conversation and it didn't bother us at all. On the last night it was awful because a couple of groups decided to start squealing at 3am. But I honestly don't think you could find anywhere in Barcelona that isn't at risk of hearing street noises.

Super powerful shower which never ran cold, small kitchenette (which we didn't use).

The rooftop pool was a delight - small, and only a handful of loungers/chairs but just perfect to have a cooling soak after the heat of the city. There's no real shade up there though, which would have made it perfect. The hotel provide towels for the pool and they are lovely big waffle towels, it would perhaps be an idea to leave these for guests in the room as sometimes there were none out. It would also have helped as you could use it to give yourself some modesty when walking up to/back from the pool.

You can get breakfast delivered to your room, but we opted to walk to a bakery for coffee & pastries in the mornings. There are countless places to eat close by, but if you're unsure the hotel staff will point you in the right direction.

On our last day we checked out and asked the hotel to store the bags as we didn't leave until after 7pm. They happily did this and also made it clear that we were welcome to continue to use the pool, shower etc until we left Barcelona. This was really appreciated!

We had a great experience, family of 4 with 2 teenagers. The roomie big enough and clean. Love that the hotel is in the local area so we experienced the real Barcelona life. The hotel is pricy but we were happy with our choice.

Hotel has alot of character, rooms large and unique and kitchen was a plus. Staff was ver helpful. Pool could use some shade, maybe umbrellas.

Barcelona’s cleanliness has deteriorated over the years near the Ramblas area. The hotel experience at Arai Aparthotel was impeccable.

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location! The staff was warm, welcoming and very helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Very polite, extremely clean, no sounds, noises, anything from any of the other rooms. 24 hr room service very prompt. Highly recommend
