Not the hotel du vin I remember!
Pros:

Ive stayed at the hotel du vin before and loved it, but this time was a different story, perhaps because I had a dog with me? Receptionist unfriendly and even ignored me when I asked if the upgrade lottery had any dog friendly rooms.

The room itself had dust on every surface including thick grey dust on the ornaments very high up, gunk on the soap dispenser and just generally the bathroom didn't feel clean, hairs in the bath etc.

I smiled and said hello to staff who met my eye but didn't even smile back. No one came to collect my room service hanger that I put out at 9pm (I couldn't go to breakfast in the dining room because of the dog) and when I went to ask about my options on discovering the hanger I was just met with a shrug, no apology, and was told I could purchase breakfast "if I wanted". Really disappointing.

I love that the hotel du vin welcomes dogs for a fee, but I was also a bit surprised that the dog bed provided was absolutely covered in dog hair from previous pooches that went all over the floor when it was chucked down as well.

Lovely place to stay for the Quayside or Ouseburn areas. Staff are always friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Shout out to Yassine on reception for his warm welcome, and for sorting us out with a lovely, quiet room. We'll be back

Newcastle Recovery
Pros:

Stayed on the 4th floor in one of the rooms with the tub on the second floor. Really enjoyed our time. Luckily, on a hot day, our room had a Dyson A/C, so helpful for us.

Everyone we talked to, from the front desk, to the bartenders, to the wait staff in the restaurant, were friendly and easy to talk to.

Our second stay at Hotel du Vin, and we'll definitely be coming back for more stays.

Pros:

Check in was odd, due to the monitors on reception you can't see the person talking to you. It's not a good welcome being talked to by a black box!

Pros:

Very nicely appointed hotel with an excellent dining room. However, shower and bath arrangement represent a severe safety hazard; safety hand holds must be installed. It is recommended that anyone who is even the slightest bit infirm or has even minor balance issues not stay at this hotel.

Pros:

The room on floor 1 was very noisy.due to traffic! It was as if our windows were open it was so loud. Other than that the room was excellent.
Some wait staff were rather “snooty”.
Breakfast was grossly over priced @ £24!
Parking is very limited, we had to park in a metered area for 1.5 days
