Quinta da Abelheira

The staff was so welcoming. The pool was divine. The breakfast was delicious. What a beautiful spread! Our room, Graciosa, was perfect for us. We would happily return to Quinta de Abelheira!

There was no receptionist on site to accommodate us. Called the number provided and nobody answered. Finally someone called back and said they would be there in a few.Never showed up , felt very unsafe, place was in the middle of nowhere,wife very nervous.Had to walk to nearby house was ask for assistance.

Really nice comfortable room. Very large and spacious. Bed was firm, and wooden frame and furniture added to the decor and style. This was a room in the upper part of the hotel, exit the balcony and you have a view of the ocean. Bathroom was nice and large. Big tv and lots of move channels.

Breakfast selection was pretty much the same daily, but it was really good and extensive. The dining room was amazing. And next to it is a lounge where one can sit in a tastefully decorated room and enjoy the view.

Tips for improvement: Add another shelf in the bathroom under the sink to store amenities. And definitely get a separate shampoo and shower gel dispenser - an all in one doesn’t say classy.

The staff is nice and friendly. There are cats outside who will enjoy your company. I would definitely recommend the hotel. It is also not too far from the airport - but no restaurants/stores in walking distance (or I didn’t see any) and a car is a must to get around.

Wifi was great. Pool had a good enough temperature.

Great views. Quiet- but some road noise. 10-15 minute drive from Ponta Delgada center. Beautiful grounds, really enjoyed the property and the room.

We were there during the Christmas holiday, and there were only a few other guests. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very welcoming. We had family in two different buildings and the rooms were perfect. Everyone enjoyed gathering for breakfast. It's a lovely, quite private property, yet close to town.

The property is picturesque and the staff are very welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend having your own vehicle as the restaurants etc are not within easy walking distance.

I cannot say enough good things about the team at Quinta da Abelheira. They were helpful, responsive, and extremely accommodating. We spent 4 nights at the hotel, which was a great home base for our time in Sao Miguel. The breakfast was superb, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!

For breakfast, you can choose from a very large selection of pastries, fruits, eggs, and many other local delicatessen.
We had a pool suite with direct access to the pool site. It was enjoyable and relaxing. The pool bar allowed us to eat a decent wrap or soup without leaving our relaxing time.
Taxi to Ponta Delgada is inexpensive.

an amazing last minute stay when our flight was cancelled, Fillipa was very helpful and accommodating , helping to call us taxis and navigate the city. the pool is lovely and refreshing and the morning breakfast buffet was delicious!

There are no storage options in the shower and bathroom. The breakfast was great, thank you.

Lovely family owned property with a more authentic Portuguese feel than staying in a bigger hotel. Staff were all so friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Gave great advice on recommended activities. Need a car but great location for getting out and about around the island. Breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend!

Would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and cleaned every day. The breakfast buffet was amazing with lots of variety and the staff helped us to navigate what foods contained nuts to cater for an allergy. One morning we had to leave early for an excursion and so the staff opened up the breakfast buffet earlier. The views at breakfast are beautiful. The pool was lovely and there is an amazing poolside bar serving drinks including delicious cocktails as well as bar snacks such as sandwiches, chips and crisps! One afternoon we had the pool to ourselves and it was a little oasis. Private, secure car parking available on site.
A few things that I would mention to improve our experience: there was one day when the pool was green in colour and so we didn’t use it. It was a normal colour the next day and it was clearly cleaned each day. I’m not sure why it turned green one day. The door on our room didn’t close properly unless locked so a small maintenance issue. General amenities in the rooms could be improved. It would be very helpful to have a fridge in the rooms. It is a bed and breakfast so you need to buy lunch and dinner on top. We went to nice restaurants for dinner but wanted to make up some sandwiches for our active days walking and a small fridge would have been amazing. A safe in the room would have been a great addition too to store jewellery and passports etc.

Leider waren Bauarbeiten im Gang. Wir hatten etwas mehr Services erwartet. Es gab nach dem Frühstück leider keine Verpflegungsnöglichkeiten. Der Pool war wunderbar!

Was good until it was not. Not proper business practices and if they see your a foreigner they will take advantage unfortunately. Even when you make a trip for a family emergency.

Outstanding boutique bed and breakfast hotel, the staff were lovely, and the quality of the rooms was excellent. Pool area is excellent for a relaxing afternoon, the viewpoint is a short hike worth doing once, and the distance to downton Ponta Delgada was manageable. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was exceptional at the Quinta da abelheira! We were traveling with two families and ten people spread across a number of rooms. From the time we stepped foot on the property Filipa and Marlene were exceptional and always there if we needed anthing. Filipa helped rearrange rooms to acccomodate proximity to children and made us feel extremely welcome. She also provided tremendous help in planning out our day, helping get a taxi, and answering any questions we had. The property is really nice, swimming pool and pool bar very relaxing and an exception breakfast. Great spot to get into town (~10 min car ride) and out on a days adventure. Would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a place to stay in Sao Miguel.

The property is very beautiful with a nice pool and spacious rooms. The staff was incredibly accommodating and took terrific care of me. The included breakfast was also lovely and included a nice view overlooking Ponta Delgada.
