We stayed here as part of our honeymoon road trip. We were upgraded, and the hotel room was fantastic with stunning views. We were greeted with a towel animal, roses and a card.
The staff were friendly. The food was tasty.
Nothing
I liked the staff, who were very friendly and attentive. The location is also perfect as it is equidistant and and within walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness on Windermere. The food and drink in the hotel were excellent and the views from the main function rooms of the hotel are stunning.
The beds are a little soft and slightly uncomfortable but were ok. I would like to see more info about the area within the hotel, that would be helpful and also a point.of interest.
5 star breakfast!
The two Scotish ladies were warm n welcoming. Vege breakfast with poached egg was perfect! In fact, thr whole team looked after me and the dog from start to finish.

Price point needs a review, it was £125 for room plus another £20 for dog, maybe have a think of a combo fee?
Beautifully appointed rooms and spotlessly clean. Great food, we had a dinner and the breakfast both excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. Thank you!
Everyone was very welcoming and attentive. The views were amazing & the food was good too.
We chose the cosy room, which we knew was going to be abit smaller.. but on the pictures the other cosy rooms looked alot better than what we got and alot more modern.
We had a nice view which we paid a premium for, room was nicely appointed.
Breakfast was nice and the staff very friendly.
Evening meal menu was didn't have many simpler options which didnt suit us, question of taste so can't grumble but for a hotel it was a bit frustrating it seemed a bit more niche.
Pool was nice even though it was colder than expected for being indoor. As its expected you book a slot to keep it as 'private' as possible it should be controlled better to make people stick to their times. Our slot was interrupted by people before us who didnt leave and the people after who came in early. The people before us stayed even after we left.
For a hotel in a quiet location up the hill out of the way of the village booked for a more peaceful stay it was very noisy inside it. Nothing major just seemed to be constant noise and banging most the night which we couldn't put our fingers on the causes.
Food was excellent. Very good choices for breakfast and evening meal. Dining staff very friendly and accommodating.
Slightly off the beaten track if you didn't have a car but bus service good.

We had a wonderful stay at Hillthwaite Hotel. The hotel was beautiful with amazing views, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were really welcoming and attentive.
The food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner delicious first class, delicious and beautifully presented.
A special thanks for the thoughtful birthday card and the lovely decorations in the room when we arrived. It was such a lovely gesture!
We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend the Hillthwaite Hotel to anyone visiting the Lake District. We hope to return again! ❤️

Bit out of the way
Breakfasts were excellent. But a special mention to Claire and Louise and especially Santa who really made a difference for us in the bar and the restaurant. And an even bigger special mention to Joanne on the front desk who rescued our weekend with a last minute room change
Honestly very little. But it would help to know which rooms do and don't have baths. The lovely photo's of the premium rooms with baths on the booking page sort of raise your expectations and of course not all rooms can be the same. Leading potentially to unintentional but significant heart ache. Also, some internal lighting in the wardrobe in room 16 would be welcome. When you open the doors to the wardrobe it blocks out any light from the room and its hard to see what your doing or read the safe numbers as they are not back-lit.

Breakfast was great.
Finding out the overall cost, after paying £410 then finding I had to pay an extra £60 for breakfast and £165 for dinner and drinks. I should have booked a different way but being 80 I got things wrong. I do like the hotel and will go again.En
