Want royal treatment, use this hotel!
Pros:

The bedroom was large and very regal Poster bed and a spa bath in the an-sweat the hotel was recently renovated and the period look in the interior was not changed. We felt like we were in the olden times treated like royalty.

Cons:

The parking was in the street and was charged during day hours at one dollar an hour. If we wanted car parking we had to order it at time of booking our stay.

Beautiful service, but bedding needs to be updated and regularly checked for quality.
Pros:

The service and professionalism of the reception and restaurant staff was fantastic. The meal in the restaurant was of a really good quality and friendliness of staff was exceptional. The decor was historic and really interesting.

Cons:

Unfortunately the mattress in our room was probably as old as the hotel. It was obvious that it hadn't been turned or replaced in quite a while and we did not really get any sleep.

Nice for a couple of nights

Wonderful getaway with friends in a beautiful old hotel
Pros:

Great location; close to Armstrong Street and restaurants. Staff were wonderful, very friendly. Melanie checked us in and she was brilliant!
Breakfast is delicious and good value.

Cons:

The rooms need more power points, you need to be able to charge your phone/s without having to unplug an appliance.
The TV. Needs to be able to get free to air, you cannot expect people to have the apps to get TV viewing. Also I asked for room servicing at check-in but never got it! The shower was good but only if you’re under 5 ft 10! You could do with some additional staff serving breakfast as the restaurant attendant was lovely but absolutely run off her feet

A very enjoyable stay in this historic hotel.
Pros:

Did not have breakfast.
Loved all the decor beautifully done and done and in true period style. THe wall paper, drapes and furnishings like it would have been last century.took some great photos in the top reading room and looking over the street with the reflections on the wet road .

Cons:

The bed was vey high and not that comfortable.

Very nice place with some flaws.
Pros:

Convenient and impeccably clean with nice staff.

Cons:

A few problems though - TV remote didn’t work and could not be replaced and the night heating could not be turned down meaning that the noisy aircon had to run all night and also the window kept open to cool the room.
