The location couldn't have been more perfect for our needs. Close to everything and access to the subway only steps away. Daily breakfast was a good selection.
The live TV would stop working after an hour. Didn't bother us much as it has a Chrome cast, so we just connected my phone and watched from streaming services.
We absolutely loved this friendly and welcoming hotel. On arrival after our 7 hour, flight we were upgraded to a superior suite which was spacious and comfortable. We loved the happy hour and tapas and breakfast was good too.
Excellent location for restaurants and Broadway and 5th Avenue of course.
Highly recommend this hotel.
That we didn’t have enough time to stay longer
Wonderful location near Central Park. We walked through the park to The Met Museum and over to MOMA. The Terrace not only provides a free breakfast, but also kicking cocktail hours from 5 - 8pm. Staff is amazing. Stayed in a King Deluxe with a great view of Times Square down the avenue.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our hotel stay. The hotel was immaculate. A free delicious breakfast was available each morning. We also enjoyed the free food, beer and wine at the receptions from 5-8 each evening. Sonia, one of the staff members, that works at the evening reception was wonderful and made our stay even better!
West House has earned a permanent spot on my list for trips into the city. It's an older, high-end boutique hotel, and that shows in all the right ways....beautifully kept, clean and quiet. My room was generously sized, which is no small thing in Manhattan.
What really made the stay, though, was Veronica at the front desk. She was warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived, and when I decided to extend my stay, she went out of her way to keep me in the same room. That kind of effort is RARE, and it's exactly why West House is now my hotel of choice whenever I'm in New York.
Sonia who works in the terrace, was amazing for the whole of our stay. She is so attentive and wonderful at her job. She is always smiling and nothing was too much for her to do for us and all of the guests around us. We have stayed for 10 days and she is so hard working and pleasant. She made our stay so much better after a few hiccups on our arrival. What a lovely lady she is! If anyone encounters her during their stay at Westhouse, she deserves every tip she receives.
Gloria, one of the maids is also very hardworking and turned over our room brilliantly each day.
I recommend this hotel but please be conscious of hidden taxes if you book through an agent! Apparently booking direct with the hotel, is the way to do it as those taxes are included. We got hit hard with extra hidden costs which were no fault of the hotel! We did however get refunded as the ‘agent’ who booked us, had to for not disclosing these costs.
The hotel is local to every tourist attraction in Manhattan and a 5 min walk to Times Square and Broadway. It is also literally seconds to the subway which can take you all over New York.
Happy hour was a pleasant surprise and runs from 5-8pm each day and is ‘free’ from the Terrace on floor 23. Each day served light supper which ranged from cuisines from around the world. French, Mexican, Greek, Italian and Spanish & much more! Breakfast is great too!
The rooms are magnificent and very clean and crisp. My mum has mobility problems so we had a walk in wet room bathroom which was beautiful!
I thoroughly recommend this hotel. It was a pleasure to stay here! Thank you Westhouse Hotel for our stay! I’ll be back most definitely when I return with more family in the very near future. 🤗
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Tarik for his exceptional kindness, professionalism, and dedication during my stay. He was always helpful, welcoming, and attentive, making my experience at the hotel truly memorable.
This hotel was wonderful. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable.
But the best was the service. Specially from Sonia at the tapas at evenings and Nicolas at reception.
The location was excellent. Close to restaurants, subway stations and walking distance of all the main attractions.
As someone who visits New York regularly for work and typically stays at Hilton properties, I was interested in trying WestHouse through Hilton’s partnership with Small Luxury Hotels.
The hotel exceeded my expectations. The location was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the overall experience felt much more boutique than a traditional chain hotel.
Two standout features were the included breakfast and the evening social hour. The breakfast was among the better hotel breakfasts I’ve had in New York. My only suggestion would be to start beverage service for the social hour a little earlier.
I do wish reservations appeared more seamlessly within the Hilton app, and it wasn’t entirely clear whether Hilton elite status offered any special recognition. Even so, this was a wonderful stay and one I’d happily recommend to other Hilton travelers looking for something different.
The Westhouse is a true gem, located in the theatre district with easy access to many sights in the city. You're just a short walk from Central Park, restaurants and theatre, without being too close to be disruptive. The vibe is elegant chill, the rooms are a good size for NYC, clean, quiet, and well appointed. Included in your stay is an excellent breakfast where you can dine indoors or on the terrace. In the evenings they offer a light fare and cocktails, as well as stunning sunset views from the terrace. The staff in every part of the hotel is very attentive and helpful. Special shout out to Vanessa and Nick at the front desk, they were exceptional throughout my stay!
On the website, they announced high speed internet and this was one of the reasons I booked my stay at Westhouse. But internet speed was very, very slow.
Great location to walk to broadway shows, great restaurants, central park.
Staff/Service was outstanding and rooms/beds were so comfortable and nice. All the amenities you need for a perfect stay.
Everything was great! Perfect location. Love the breakfast and dinner/wine service add on.
My only criticism is that the rooms could be cleaner and the bathrooms have no counter space or hooks….there is no place to set any belongings at all in the bathroom.
This is my third time in this hotel and I need to say that it is like 'being at home' - the sophisticated environment, the good location and the delicious bed would be enough to want to come back - but the attention to detail and the care of the attendants, waiters and cleaners make us always want to extend the accommodation. IMPECCABLE
Hotel states its a luxury hotel and at first look it seems very nice. When you look closer all the woodwork is beat up, the inside is dark and the lounge is very worn. The carpets seemed new and a fresh coat of paint/wallpaper makes it look high end at first glance.
The fire alarm went off in my room at 6:30, I was in the shower. I called the front desk, no one seemed concerned as I was the only one who called. I checked out within the hour. I will not go back.
Location
It is literally on the corner of a subway station, and walking distance to the theatre district, central park, and the Lincoln center. The BEST location.
Check-in
Check-in was a breeze. The front desk staff were friendly, outgoing, and genuinely helpful throughout the process. While an early check-in was not available, it was not an issue, as I had already planned to spend the afternoon at MoMA. Returning later in the day, around 4 p.m., the check-in process was quick and effortless.
The Room
Upon entering the room, my first impression was that it was quite spacious. Beyond that, however, several aspects of the room showed signs of neglect and poor maintenance.
The mirrors throughout the room were noticeably aged, with areas of oxidation and tarnishing visible in the reflective coating. The lack of basic amenities was also disappointing; there was not even a kettle for hot water or any instant coffee provided. The hotel did supply two cans of water daily, which was appreciated.
Maintenance issues were evident throughout the room. The ceiling light near the entrance flickered intermittently, and the wardrobe light did not function at all. As a result, accessing the safe and organizing luggage inside the wardrobe became unnecessarily inconvenient. Additionally, the bedside lamps showed signs of poor upkeep, with the lampshades sitting crookedly and appearing worn. While these may seem like minor details individually, together they contributed to an overall impression that the room was not being maintained to the standard one would expect from a hotel of this category.
The Bathroom
The bathroom mirrors suffered from the same oxidation and tarnishing issues as those in the main room. The absence of a bathtub was somewhat disappointing, and the daily upkeep of the bathroom felt inconsistent.
Simple details were often overlooked. The toilet paper was frequently left improperly positioned, requiring adjustment each day. Towel replenishment was also inconsistent—some days there were three face towels provided, while on other days there were none at all.
Housekeeping
I left a tip each day and generally received a level of service that reflected exactly that amount of effort. While housekeeping completed the basics, the service lacked the attentiveness and consistency one would expect from a hotel in this category.
Breakfast and Evening Indulgence
One of the stronger aspects of the hotel was the daily breakfast buffet, along with the evening "Indulgence" service offered on the 23rd floor. The concept is somewhat comparable to an executive lounge found at many Hilton properties throughout Asia.
After experiencing the cost of dining in New York City, I was certainly grateful that the hotel offered these complimentary food and beverage options. However, the execution lacked refinement. The variety and quality of the offerings were fairly limited, and there was little variation from day to day.
Overall Impression
This property lacks many of the facilities and refinements one would typically associate with a five-star hotel. At the same time, the friendliness of the staff and the generally comfortable accommodations helped make the stay enjoyable.
The assistance I received during both check-in and check-out was excellent, and the staff were especially helpful when I arranged for books ordered from Amazon to be delivered to the hotel.
Overall, while I enjoyed my stay, there is considerable room for improvement. Better maintenance, more consistent housekeeping standards, and greater attention to detail would significantly enhance the guest experience and help the hotel better meet the expectations associated with its rating.
