Pros:

Locatie perfect. Midden in Kandersteg. Fantastisch uitzicht op de Bergen. Eten in het restaurant super goed en ook betaalbaar. 27 euro voor een grote schnitzel met friet.

Cons:

Ontbijt was prima maar niet super uitgebreid. Een gebakken ei was fijn geweest. Ook wat weinig fruit. Hotel gaat voorgoed sluiten eind oktober 2026. Dat was een beetje te zien. Maar de prijs was super.

Warm and welcoming hotel in stunning surroundings
Pros:

Lovely hotel with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Very generous breakfast. Our twin room (the most basic option) had three big windows all with stunning mountain views! Such a shame they are closing in October, or we would go back.

Cons:

Pillow was very soft.

Cried when we had to leave.
Pros:

On-site restaurant for dinner was wonderful. Breakfast was terrific (museli was delicious!). All the staff was great. They sold lunches to take on your hikes, which was incredibly convenient. Served as an ATM (gave us cash and added to our room bill). Kandersteg is such a beautiful place and the pace is a bit more peaceful than Grindelwald (other mountain town we visited). Room had a separate space for our 3rd person (14-year-old son). TV in room, which made watching World Cup games very easy. Little deck was a great add... watched the rain sweep across and up the valley. Anyway, only the best things to say about Kandersteg and Blumlisalp.

Cons:

The flies when eating, but that seems to be everywhere in the mountains of Switzerland. They seem to go hand in hand with the cows and their bells. Nothing specific to Blumlisalp.

Pros:

Nice big room. Great views. Dog friendly, they even had special dog towels. Very helpful staff. We preferred to have breakfast outside and after a few days, they actually prepared our table outside.
