Cons:

Better to spend the night in Hekou
Pros:

Location right on the Chinese border

Cons:

Not as good as its star rating. Limited breakfast, hotel is big and empty, pool not available, air conditioner only in the rooms so super hot everywhere else.
If coming from China, better to spend the night in Hekou.

Pros:

Very friendly staff and great customer and plus clean rooms I enjoyed my stayed with my wife and many places to visit around the Sapaly Lao Cai city hotel I appreciate the manger and the staff talking with us with everything we need and accommodations I’m very impressed by the service and hospitality thank you again so much I appreciate for our visit in Lao Cai city and the hotel Sapaly

Quality stay and steps away to the border gate
Pros:

Clean and comfortable. Staff were attentive. Kind and professional manager.

Cons:

Business is quiet everywhere in town due to China’s current border closure. This meant minimal service availability for tourists in general.
