Not a lot
Everything … room was awful … bathroom was awful … view from room was awful … breakfast was ok ish !!! how they could justify £453 for three nights I will never know … I will never ever put a foot in this place again … photos show view from our window … old discarded coffee cups and lids, dead plants … also shown a huge cobweb in our bedroom
Convenient location
Room right next to rear kitchen door which was left open. Loud noise from well into the night
Spacious excellent menu and service
In a annexe outside the main building very near a back entrance to the kitchen or scullery which was intermittently noisy until about 11.30 pm
The public areas, bar and park are lovely
The food was not good quality and it was expensive. One room had a mattress that smelt strongly of urine. It was dry but unpleasant to sleep on.
We love staying here and the staff are fantastic, but we thought that, on this occasion, standards were nothing like we’d come to expect. Our bathroom had not been cleaned - the shower tray had grubby marks, the toilet had not been cleaned, the floor had not been swept/washed nor had the floor in the bedroom area been properly vacuumed, and the towels left in the shower after our first night had not been removed or replaced. And finally, for 2 days in succession, no toilet rolls were available in the ladies in the pub/testaurant. And definitely finally, the food was not up to its usual standard. But we really do love staying here
Such a lovely bedroom
Great staff and great bedroom
At the beginning of July we stayed at Worplesdon Place for a night. This was not our first stay here. We stayed here a couple of years ago and we had a pleasant stay at that time. However, this time a triple room was not available and we were given two rooms (a double and a twin far from each other). However, there isn’t much privacy when you opt to open. The bathroom is not big, but the shower is a good size one. The grounds are beautiful, there is ample parking space inside the premises and the pub/restaurant are nice. Food is a bit pricy but good and the staff is nice and friendly.
The rooms were small, hot and stuffy, especially the one on the first floor. The twin one was on the ground floor, next to the kitchen. You need to walk from outside the bulding in a kind of alley next to the rubbish area which didn't smell nice. It was not so quiet but had a door facing the gardens which you could open to let in some fresh air. There is no shelf/counter space in the bathroom. There were also a lot of ants in the room. There is not much privacy when checking in and out in the restaurant area and didn't feel like valued customer. Restaurant/ hotel Manager was very busy serving customers at the bar rather than oversee daily operations and coordinating staff.
The hotel was really nice and our bedroom was super. Really well decorated with a comfortable bed. It was good to have a proper fridge with real milk. Although it was stocked with tempting but incredibly expensive goodies which we managed to resist.
The only downside was the extremely poor breakfast. The choice of cereals was limited to rice crispies or cornflakes. The fruit selection was whole apples or grapes. Coffee was made individually for us all in a machine behind the bar. There was no butter on any of the 3 days we stayed. When we asked for something to go our toast, jam, peanut butter etc we were told they didn’t have anything like that. In the end we went out and bought our own. The bagels our friend had with his eggs Benedict were straight from the packet, untoasted. It was very strange given that the food from the restaurant for the rest of the day was delicious.
Grounds also room v quite
Despite agreeing an arrival time our room was not ready when we arrived
Stayed one night during the heatwave, but room was very cool and facilities were all good., good selection of meal choices and drinks available.
The location, the building, the grounds, the staff
Breakfast was really lovely, good choice and cooked to order. Check in was smooth and efficient
There wasn't really anything we didn't like. Place was clean and tidy, room was a decent size, and the bed was really comfortable
Very poor, very slow service in dining room. We had two evening meals and both bad slow service though food was excellent. Breakfast first day was very good with a very nice cheerful woman, but second bad. The girls talked among themselves far too much, hardly anything on buffet table either, tables not cleared.
Very good experience however when we wanted to change rooms as first room was small and not good. We changed to a suite more expensive but worth every penny. We have stayed before and last time it was excellent hence why we booked again - but really won’t book again - we were there for a golf competition which is held every year
Lovely bar, garden and rooms tastefully decorated
Nothing
The room was adequate
The premises/grounds were nice.
Room a bit dirty. It did not appear to be cleaned from the night before as residual food remained in the room as well as dirty coffee cups.
The heating system was in the room and upper floor resulting in neglected dying plants in upper hallway. The room was boiling because the radiators were all on and we couldn’t turn them off.
We had the air conditioner on also because the the weather was warm.
Postcards but no pen in room.
The restaurant had run out of avocados when we ordered them for breakfast.
We then requested 2 vegetarian breakfasts and they served us one veg and one non veg so had to send one back. By the time they brought the second veg breakfast one of us had already finished eating. Poorly staffed. Reception desk located in pub/restaurant area so the reception staff had to double up as the person at the bar behind the counter…. Resulting in poor and slow service.
I was only there for two nights and would not stay there again
