Le Meridien New York, Central Park

Could have used more space. No place for two large suitcases to stow.

My stay was amazing! The staff was great, the room was beautiful and bed was so comfortable. Central to everything we wanted to do, as well as the subway. The staff was great at helping us with a late checkout as well.

This hotel does not feel at all like a true Le Meridien-branded hotel. It is dated and disappointing. Even in a junior suite the room was small, quite dark even during daytime, unclean (absolutely filthy windows) and poorly set for new standards. Mini-bar was randomly set right in the middle of the room for some reason and totally empty. No usb or usb-c dockets on the nightstands. The bed was comfortable though and the bathroom ok. We asked to change rooms upon arrival and had a tough time getting this done although a similar alternative was available, which we ended up getting after jumping through lots of hoops and threatening to move to a different hotel altogether. Clearly, had we known we would not have picked that hotel for our stay. Le Meridien is a brand known for a certain level of excellence internationally. This is not the case here. To finish on a positive note, the main perks of the hotel are: (i) the location, which is right next to Central park and (ii) some of the staff that was super friendly (shout-out to Carlos for instance for his daily cool attitude and friendly rapport during our stay).

La localisation

First time staying at Le Méridien New York, Central Park while in the city to collaborate with my colleagues for work. What really stood out to me at this property was the A++ customer service.

From the moment I arrived, Ricardo greeted me right away and assisted with my bags. This was followed by a very warm and genuine welcome from Melissa at the front desk, who gave me an intro to the property and promptly checked me in. The entire process was smooth and pleasant.

Having traveled to New York frequently for work since 2022, I especially appreciate some peace and quiet in the evenings, something I’m used to back home in California. The hotel was very accommodating with this request, which I really appreciated especially after a long workday.

Brian at the front desk and Asimina from the concierge team were also very warm and courteous, and always happy to offer their assistance to guests whenever needed - they are true professionals. I also want to recognize the GM, Mr. Scarpa, who took time out of his busy schedule to personally reach out and make sure everything was alright. The GM’s gesture was sincere and attentive, and it was clear that he and his team cares about the guests staying at the property.

I stayed in a one-bedroom suite overlooking part of Central Park. The room has an interesting mix of traditional and modern European design elements, with separate living and bedroom areas divided by a sliding door. For me, this worked m well — I could take virtual calls in the living area and still have a separate space to rest and unwind.

Overall, a very pleasant first stay. I would highly recommend this property for both work as well as leisure travel, and most importantly, thank you to Ricardo, Melissa, Brian, Asimina, Mr. Scarpa, as well as Director Jeremy, Carlos and Eduardo and the rest of the team for the warm and professional hospitality.

Fun, clean, safe, classy, and best value for the area I believe.
Rooms are small, but location is great!

Long story short, this hotel is not luxury.

Prior to arriving they reach out and ask how they can make your stay special, if you're celebrating anything, or need anything to make your stay better. I told them my reason for visiting and upon arrival, there was nothing done or special to acknowledge my visit. For reference, when I stayed at The Ritz and they asked the same thing, they gave me the most thoughtful welcome gift related to my reason for visiting.

The Classic King Guest Room is okay. There was no luggage rack or additional space to elevate your luggage beside the desk. So if you're more than 1 person in this room, space can be challenging.

I asked someone at the front desk if they had a hair tie. At other Marriott properties, I could have sworn you could request a hair kit similar to a dental kit. The front desk lady smirked and said no we don't have hair ties.

For an establishment that made it a point to ask prior to visiting what they could do to make my stay better, there was NO sense of hospitality. She couldn't even make a recommendation to visit the Duane Reade on the same street to help problem solve. Again, no above and beyond service, not luxury! For the price paid, the least I could expect is solution orientated front desk assistance.

The food at the property is okay. The views are minimal.

The location is the only reason I gave it three stars, otherwise it'd be 2.5. The hotel is walking distance to Central Park, a Pure Barre class I took, the train, and an accessible bus. However, the location is not enough to have be stay at the property again.

It was OK. I stayed here for 10 nights as I was visiting family and friends (used points). PROS: Excellent location, friendly cleaning staff and the French restaurant is nice. CONS: There is zero benefit as a Titanium member (they got excited telling me I’d earn 1K points for my whole stay); There is a 45 usd per day destination fee which wasn’t useful to me (some days I’d just buy a 6 dollar coffee and tipped 15 just to use the daily 25 food spend portion); I had to ask several times to change my room from back facing no view (finally got a front facing with broken A/C - even the maintenance guy told me to change rooms again).

In a nutshell, I struggled to see the “luxury”. My friends stayed at another hotel around the corner (AKA hotel) and it was cheaper, bigger room, and they just randomly found it online.
