Grand Hotel Riviera

This was a fabulous hotel and having visited this hotel over 40 years ago we hoped it lived up to our expectations. It certainly did and more. What a view from the terrace - beautiful room - great food and drinks and beautiful beach club. Will definitely come back.

Great view from the restaurant

Location was incredible, the view from the breakfast room was amazing.

The view is stunning and breathtaking- rooms are small although they have improved over the years with some small improvements- the dining experience is better than the past and is more local based and quality oriented but breakfast still vey cheap with no high quality products and in Italy this is not acceptable. Staff is very patient and friendly.

The Grand Hotel Riviera is located no more than a 15 minute walk from the main Sorrento square. The hotel also boasts one of the best views in Sorrento overlooking the bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius whilst you are having breakfast, lunch, or just a quiet relaxing seat on the terrace. The hotel atmosphere throughout our weeks stay was very pleasant and the rooms (as was the hotel in general) were very clean and tidy at all times and have everything that you require (e,g kettle, wi fi, tv, safe, mini bar, daily top up of milk coffee etc) There are cheaper hotels in Sorrento but i don't think many could match the overall experience we had in the Grand Riviera. Last but not least, we wish to emphasise the exceptional service that we received throughout our stay and i can only apologise that i can't remember the names of everyone, there is one staff member with whom we will will always have fond memories of for her cheery smile and exceptional service in the restaurant and her name is Theresa (we would appreciate if the management would pass on our thanks to Theresa)

The staff were extremely helpful! The hotel restaurant was outstanding— including a phenomenal breakfast! Location perfect on the Amalfi Mediterranean. Paradise!

Las vistas son excelentes, el desayuno muy bueno y variado, la cena en el restaurante de lo mejor de Sorrento. La atención del personal también excelente. 100% recomendado.

What a beautiful, classy, stunning hotel. The hotel was one of the best I had ever stayed in .It was spotlessly clean throughout. All of the staff were so friendly , polite and very attentive at all times. Room was very clean and fresh towels were provided everyday and even a turn down service which was a nice touch!
A lift in the hotel takes you down to sea level where there is a private jetty surrounded by sun loungers and access to the sea .
The hotel had the most beautiful panoramic views over the Bay of Naples, and in the evening there was always live chilled music which made it very relaxing , a great combination.
A big thank you to the hotel manager who was always helpful whenever we had any questions and was very friendly.
we loved our stay so very much and we will certainly be back very soon .

With all the hotels in Sorrento, we are so happy we chose Grand Hotel Riviera. Beautiful clean hotel overlooking the Bay of Naples. We chose a premium sea view room that was recently renovated with beautiful tile floors, bright colors, comfy king bed, couch, large walk in shower and closet. We had 2 balconies with a sea view that sided to a lemon, olive trees, and mountains. Very Private and so clean. All of the hotel common rooms also breakfast room have beautiful views of the bay. The staff are the best. So helpful polite and kind. Helped us with dinner reservations, drivers and directions. Always greeted us with a smile. Breakfast buffet which is included was awesome, so much to choose from mimosas & made to order eggs . It was about a 10 min easy walk to Piazza Tasso. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Kan anbefales på det sterkeste. Utrolig vakker beliggenhet med fantastisk utsikt over havet og mot Vesuv. Lekkert klassiskt hotell. Maten var fantastisk! Spiste lunsj der så og si hver dag. Privat beachclub med servering (stor badebrygge mesd solstoler). Stille og rolig. Bra sovekvalitet. Veldig trivelig og hjelpsom personell. Vi skal tilbake hit.

I booked the “Premium Room with Sea View Terrace” at the Grand Hotel Riviera based on the website photos and description, expecting a spacious room with a private terrace and stunning sea view. What I received — Room 203 — was smaller, lacked the furniture shown online, and had a terrace exposed to neighboring rooms. The viewpoint promised in the photos did not match reality.

The website does not provide square metre sizes, allowing the hotel to assign guests wherever they like without transparency. At the time, the room was charged at an obscene rate, and it’s now advertised at roughly half the price, showing how inflated the original charge was.

I raised the issue with Mr. Sanseverino, who responded in a condescending, dismissive, and rude manner. He refused a fair refund for the difference in room category and offered only a voucher, ignoring the clear discrepancy between what was advertised and what was delivered.

For a hotel with a long-standing reputation, this behavior is unacceptable. Guests should be aware that the room you book online may be very different from the room you receive, and questioning it may lead to arrogant and unprofessional treatment. Avoid unless you are prepared for misleading marketing, inflated pricing, and terrible customer service.

For a hotel trading on its “historic reputation,” the Riviera operates with outdated standards, misleading advertising, and poor customer relations.

Be warned: the room you book online is very likely not the room you’ll get — and you’ll be treated with arrogance if you dare to question it.
