Friendly staff. Nothing like what we expected from the description and photos. Not our most comfortable stay...
We had a wonderful stay at the inn. Mathew and Natalya were great hosts and directed us to good local guides and restaurants. Our room was very basic (may not have been the best in the inn) but very clean and adequate. Very good value for the money. The sign says good vibrations and that was very true as we quickly felt at home with our hosts and the other guests.
Mathew and Nathalia were wonderful hosts. They spent a lot of time answering our questions and directing us to activities that suited our needs. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was served every morning and was delicious. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the beach and walking distance to several restaurants and a small shop. There is also a great surf shop that offers equipment and lessons nearby. I would definitely recommend the Indra Inn to anyone staying in Playa Grande.
The breakfast included was very good. The family who runs this inn are warm and friendly with good suggestions about where to go and what to do
This lodge looks great from the outside but its disgustingly dirty from inside. They have centipedes all over the floor, spiders everywhere from under the sink, on the curtains, on the bed and scorpion behind the bed. They need to really step up their cleanliness. The staff was alright, a little helpful but very mean and not understanding when we didn't want to live in a bug infested room and risk getting bit by the scorpion. The guy in charge said they get scorpions often and people get bitten all the time. Im sorry but i dont like putting my family and my life at risk to get bitten by a poisonous scorpion. I understand its Costa Rica and having a few bugs is normal but its NOT normal to have those bugs in the room. Im playing to stay inside the lodge or I would camp in the rainforest. Book rooms at your own risk.
Close to beach for surfers, good breakfast and great staff.
The hosts Matt and Natalia were extremely helpful in providing information on things to do, places to eat. They made me feel comfortable in a foreign surrounding.
Incredible - we were sad to leave! The entire place feels like home, as this family run business makes a point of it to make sure you are welcomed with a smile. Would love to return one day!
Matt and Natalia are welcoming. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The area is incredible and you have all you need with walking distance. I will stay here again if I get back to the area
We really enjoyed our stay here. Nothing was too much trouble and it really felt like home. The staff became friends and were very helpful in making suggestions about good food, activities and life in general.
The rooms are decent, comfy, and clean. There is hot water and a good wifi signal. The hotel is in a walking distance to the beach. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
If you are in the area, go and visit Granada and Ometepe Island, in Nicaragua. You won't regret. We did it! The owner gave us the info and explained us how to get there.
We did not try the breakfast because we left early.
The only thing is that we had to wait around 4 hours to check in, but we walked around the area.
I recommend this hotel.
Playa Grande is a beautiful beach and Indra Inn is a wonderful place to stay.
Very nice, comfortable and peaceful accommodations. Free wifi, breakfast, parking and help with tours and activities. A very short walk to the beach, surf shops, activities, and restaurants. Highly recommended.
Matthew and Natalia (the owners) are awesome hosts! Super friendly, and very helpful with everything. The breakfast is big enough that we didn't need to eat lunch every day. Food is a little expensive in Costa Rica, so that is a huge added value. The location is central to most things we wanted to do. Even though we had a car, we ended up walking most of the time to the beach, local restaurants for dinner, and some activities. We enjoyed the Playa Grande area with its perfect mix of quiet and things to do. We took surf lessons, canoed the estuary, and explored the beach. There are several monkeys that show up next door at the surf shop each afternoon to be fed. Quite a show! We enjoyed visiting with the other guests as well. We drove to Tamarindo (25 minutes) to check out that very touristy area, but were so glad we stayed at the quieter Indra Inn instead. We're looking forward to going back someday. Muchas gracias Matthew, Natalia, and little Dante!
Nice place to stay with amazing owners and the cutest little boy. The breakfast is outstanding! The bed could use a little padding and a blanket. An oversheet isn't enough for the night.
I recently stayed at the Indra Inn for a total of 9 nights as a solo traveller and I didn't feel lonely at all.
The owners Matt and Natalia will help you feel welcomed as soon as you step through the entrance and are always willing to go out of their way to assist you with whatever you may need. The room was clean and the property very well maintained.
The inn is also very close to the beach (around a 10 min walk) and there are some good restaurants close by that offer great food for a decent price.
All in all, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back for my next trip in Playa Grande, if only to see Marshmallow again, the princess of the Indra inn.
Close to beach for night time tour to see leatherback turtles
Pueblo restaurant nearby. Superb
Wow... didn't know what to expect heading to the coast, or Costa Rica in general, but the Indra Inn really took the cake. Matt and Natalia were so amazingly nice and friendly, true to form creating a communal environment where we spoke regularly with them, their adorable son and other guests throughout the day and our entire stay. While Playa Grande is much quieter than Tamarindo (a wonderfully long beach walk away), there are plenty of places to eat, local surf shops and tours (which you can also arrange at Indra) and the Inn offers a homemade "typical" breakfast with great hours for late sleepers.
Place is very well run! The rooms are pretty basic but very functional. Good restaurants around!!
Indra Inn was a super sweet place to stay with Mathew and his family managing the hotel. If you are looking for something laid back, friendly, and close to everything, this is the place. We only stayed one night. We met Thomas, a Pipa Fria (Cold coconut) vendor by day, and a turtle tour guide by night. We ate the best ceviche I've ever had a few doors down from Indra Inn, she made it fresh and served it with fried plantain chips. It was so delicious, we tried to get it again the following day, but were unable to wait the extra 20 minutes for them to get the fresh fish nearby. I'm adding this to the Indra Inn review because it was the total package. Here is a charming quote that was pinned to a tree at the Inn, "Never mistake knowledge for wisdom, one helps you make a living and the other helps you make a life." Pura Vida
It was a very nice hotel with lovely, friendly owners. We didn't stay too long, so no extensive opinions. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was great, but our room was about 10 feet from the road which meant we heard cars driving by, which wasn't that frequent, but enough to notice.
