Residence Inn by Marriott Grand Rapids Airport

I stayed for 9 nights here. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. I received a Gold Elite upgrade to a one BR executive suite which was more gently lived in than the studio suite to which I was first assigned. Breakfast in the mornings had a lot of choices, whether your preference is fried or continental. WiFi was good for remote work and noises above or below the apartment were non-existent. If I had a tiny dissatisfaction, it was that there was not a lot of daylight in the unit, get southern exposure if you can.

The hotel’s location is only a couple miles from the airport, on the edge of Cascade township and right in the middle of the 18th Street shopping district. Trader Joe’s, Costco, Meijer, tons of dining options and the Woodland Mall accessible in 5 minutes. Coopers Hawk Winery and Steakhouse is at the front of the property, within walking distance of the. There’s also a trail that runs adjacent to the property- I didn’t try it because I was solo, but it looked interesting.

All in all, I’d definitely stay here again.

I didnt sleep a wink, someone on the second floor was running around loudly and nobody did anything about it, it went on four hours and i had already gotten up early that morning and had to get up early the next morning. Love the hotel but im not happy about this experience my past stays here were much better, and when we walked in the room it honestly kind of smelled of dirty laundry

Really enjoyable experience. The room was really nice and even had a fireplace. Service was also very good, especially the late-afternoon evening manager who was very helpful in helping us find somewhere to eat.

Hotel is renovating. So no bar, breakfast was only cold food. Reviews online suggest a hot tub. It’s been filled in. Pool only.

I was disappointed bc I was staying up here for a futsal tournament and wanted to chill in the hot tub on down time. I picked this hotel for that and the breakfast for the boys, and also for the bar to chill at for a night cap. None of these things were possible.

I’m writing this review with 1/4 cup of coffee bc they ran out……

The facilities it had, breakfast staff was super kind

This hotel relies on Uber for their park and fly package. My flight landed at Grand Rapids Airport at 11:59 PM. I finally received an Uber pick-up from the hotel link after two failed attempts to locate a driver, at their price point, and arrived at the hotel at 1:30 AM; 1 1/2 hours after my flight landed waiting outside in the cold for over an hour. Management should know that Uber drivers are not going to accept a cheap bid at that time of day. Several other Uber pickups for other passengers took place while I waited. This is an unacceptable business model and I can not recommend anyone staying at The Residence Inn Grand Rapids Airport using the park and fly package.

The "24/7 airport shuttle" is not an actual shuttle service. They just order you an Uber, which some might find appealing. We had a car seat with us and were arriving at 12:30am, after the onsite rental car companies close. For these reasons, we specifically sought out a hotel with 24/7 airport shuttle service. The other issue is that no Ubers were available at that time of night so we waited in the cold before we were ultimately notified that there were none available. I ended up paying $50 for a Lyft to take us 4 miles. When I said something to the front desk, they told me to contact the general manager about getting reimbursed. They never bothered to respond to me. Other issues include no linens for the the pullout couch which delayed sleep by another 20 minutes, as well as the room being set to AC when it was 40 degrees outside. Finally, my wife skimmed the pool because there were several large clumps of hair floating in the water. She received a thank you from multiple guests. There are plenty of better options south of the airport. I would recommend staying at any of them. This place does not deserve your hard earned $$$. See photos for proof.

This is our 5th time staying at Residence inn. We really appreciate all of the staff. But Mario is so personable and friendly always greeting you.

Clean, well furnished but the room’s HVAC system was so noisy, going on and off all night, that it was hard to sleep. Breakfast items were more
Limited than at other places.

Nice suite

When we arrived in our room our dog found a half-eaten sandwich on the ground next to the bed. When I took the sandwich to the front desk I asked them to have the General Manager for the property contact me. At the end of our stay, as the General Manager had made no attempt to reach me, I asked to speak with her. After some time the General Manager came out from her office and told me that she had no idea how the sandwich was left in the room. She proceeded to tell me that the property is rated highly - but did not appear at all surprised that we found a half-eaten sandwich on our arrival. She really gave no indication that she cared at all - about our experience or that she could take any action to prevent other guests from having the same experience. She expressed no concern for their guest experience - none at all.

I would definitely stay again

Ideal for business or pleasure. Clean, quiet, close to the airport and many good eateries. Front desk staff is amazing.
