The property itself could be beautiful — or perhaps once was — but it is now neglected and poorly managed. The hotel is surrounded by truly beautiful natural scenery, which is easily the strongest positive aspect of the stay.
The rooms are dark, smelly, and poorly maintained, with mold in the bathrooms and sewage odors coming from the drains. Breakfast is very poor and limited; aside from decent coffee and fruit, the options are disappointing. The bread section consists of artificial, mass-produced baked goods. The pool looks nice at first glance, but it is clearly neglected and in need of proper upkeep.
The worst part of our stay was the reception staff. Their attitude and lack of professionalism had a huge negative impact on our overall experience, and front desk service plays a critical role in how guests perceive a hotel. Unfortunately, this was where the property failed the most.
With proper renovation, better maintenance, and competent, guest-focused staff, this hotel could have strong potential. In its current condition, however, I would not recommend staying here.
Requested twin room when arrived none so had to share king with friend, we asked 8 mths in advance as well but because we arrived late they never had any even when asked for 1,
Why not keep room for the guests who ask astonishing.
Then said nothing we can do as none left simple as that
The hotel is built into the cliff which offers beautiful views of the limestone cliffs from the pool and restaurant
The well kept grounds are full of lush tropical trees and plants
Our double rooms were spacious and with a massive king bed
The staff were so lovely and a real credit to the hotel
Hotel pools ate beautiful.. on 3 levels. Does feel like a tropical paradice.. Rooms are well equipped and beautiful. Breakfast is nice and has got mountain views. Staff very friendly but we got abit sick of the man selling ingredients trips
. One day the maid didn't clean our bathroom.and didn't empty the waste bin, if it wasn't for that it would be 5 star review
We stayed for 4 nights in room 2301.
The room was excellent good air con and had a pool outside of our room which was so chilled. The room is up a few stairs but you can get a free taxi up to the lifts if you cannot make the stairs. WiFi is not the best but you can get over it
Now the pros
You can get a free taxi every couple of hours from the hotel to the centre of where all the best bars and restaurants are.
None of this compares to the five star superb customer service by ALL staff. Could not fault anyone. They put a smile on our face. Could not have been any helpful and seemed really to care about you.
Thanks to you all in giving the best experience in Thailand and would definitely recommend xxx
Excellent experience at Phu Pi Maan resort. We stayed for 7 night and really enjoyed our time. Mu who was a porter was extremely kind and helpful.
Always friendly, smiley and polite. He made our experience extra special. Our room was very spacious and clean. Nice pools and loungers to use during the day and then have a shuttle service to and from Ao nang beach which is also very helpful. Highly recommend staying here. Thanks
Good venue, superb views, excellent staff service
Cleanliness & Housekeeping (5/5):
The room was impeccably clean—housekeeping did a thorough job every day, including mopping floors and freshening bedding. It was always a pleasure to return to such a spotless space.
Room & Comfort (5/5):
Our mountain-view room came with a private Jacuzzi, perfectly positioned to capture spectacular peaks. The room itself was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, with a comfortable bed and plenty of room to relax and take in the scenery.
Facilities & Views (5/5):
Not only did we enjoy the luxurious Jacuzzi, but the dining area (and even the bathroom) offered jaw‑dropping mountain panoramas. If you’re looking for a serene, nature‑immersed stay, this room delivers.
Staff & Services (4/5):
Housekeeping was excellent and very attentive. The hotel also offers buggy service for guests staying in mountain-view rooms—very convenient.
Food & Breakfast (3.5/5):
Breakfast was simple, reliable, and tasty. However, it could benefit from more variety—adding some local or hot options would elevate the dining experience.
Our stay in the Jacuzzi mountain-view room was absolutely memorable. Between the serene environment, spotless accommodation, and those unbeatable views, we couldn’t have asked for more. A broader breakfast selection and clearer buggy info would push this experience from excellent to exceptional.
Highly recommended for couples or anyone seeking a peaceful escape in style!
Good value for money.
Good sized rooms, clean & well facilitated. Stunning pool areas & a good allocation of Sunbeds.
Breakfast was good, not outstanding, again good value for money. The restaurant staff were excellent, very polite & welcoming each morning.
A functional gym by Thailand standards, although I did have to find someone to open up some mornings.
My only complaint or observation, the pool, gym & corridors were full of dead bugs each day, I think more of an effort could be made to clean these areas.
Finally, yes, the hotel is a Muslim owned hotel and does not serve alcoholic drinks, there’s a host of bars in Ao Nang that you can frequent if that was an issue! And yes, there’s lots of steps & hills to encounter around the property. The hotel is built into the cliff side, this makes the views breathtaking & unique. If steps & hills are an issue, it maybe worth considering other options!
Would I stop here again? Absolutely.
We stayed at Aonang Phu Pi Maan Resort and Spa for one night and really enjoyed our stay.
The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable-ideal for a relaxing break. The resort itself is peaceful and beautifully maintained.
However, the location is a bit out of the way and not very lively, which might not suit everyone.
It's quite a distance from the central area, but the hotel does provide a shuttle bus which is really helpful. Also, just a heads-up: the hotel doesn't serve alcohol, so you'll need to plan accordingly if that's something you're looking for.
Overall, a lovely place for a quiet and relaxing stay before travelling for next destination
Hillside hotel located about 10 min walk from the beach in Ao Nang. We stayed in a 2 bed villa with an outside sitting area near the bottom pool. Good sized bedrooms with Jack and Jill style bathroom. Northern Thai style with lots of wood. There is a spa onsite which looked nice although we didn’t have time to use it. 2 pools and hillside restaurant. Easy walk into Ao Nang but we took tuk tuks back due to the hill for about 100 baht for the 3 of us. Travelling with a child so quite nice not to be in the thick of Ao Nang’s nightlife.
It is a Muslim hotel so they don’t serve alcohol but loads of bars and restaurants in Ao Nang so not a problem.
The hotel is not suitable for babies!
We received a wet cot with bed bugs.
Our baby woke up in the morning with bites and rashes all over their bodies.
Very frustrating and ruined the family holiday
3 days stay was comfortable with quick checkin with cool tangy welcome drink.Reception staff was friendly with clear instructions.Room was with beautiful Mountain View was clean and big.All basic amenities like toileteries, dryer was provided. The bed was firm which gave us sound sleep. The housekeeping is efficient. The restaurant served good ala carte dishes which are Thai, English, Italian etc.We had Phadthai and Tomyumm which was delicious.
Otherwise there are lots of restaurants just 250 mts down as it is main Aonang street with loads of shopping and food.
The breakfast was buffet but less options and the baked items were not that good and needs to be improved. But other food items are fine.
Overall, it was very good choice as it located near Aonang beach and provide free shuttle service to guests. And that Aonang beach street is paradise for nightlife and shoppers with good food.
The spa was great with POM and Benz, Kwan was good in therapy session but they don’t provide shower and steam which should be included with treatments
The private pool suite was great with wonderful view and pretty big. Can provide some more essential amenities like body lotion and shaving kit etc. Breakfast was minimal. Hike from entrance to the stay was a killer after a hectic day at beach😀
Really nice hotel ,guests have access to all pools.
Rooms 4.2 , huge bath
Bed 4.1
Staff 5 , really nice staff
Bought food burgers etc 4.1
Free breakfast 2.4 (as I’m in English difficult to find good English breakfast anywhere)
Hotel does not serve alcohol as far as I’m aware
Overall a really good hotel
Hotel does free shuttle bus to beach. Photo added of times
Beautiful property with lovely views from the pool area. Bed is very comfortable, and the balcony with jetted tub a plus. Great buffet breakfast each morning. Would have been nice to take that 2nd cup of coffee up to the room, but we were stopped from doing so - they said they didn’t allow any food or beverage to be removed from the dining room. Of note - when you arrive, they kindly transport you and your luggage up the hill to the main building via golf cart, but when you leave to go anywhere else, you need to make the trek up on your own steam (only reception is at the base of the hill). We were fine with that, but thought it was important to note. We asked reception if we could extend a 1-5 days and we’re told to look online ourselves, as apparently they prefer to book through other sites, which seemed strange. We opted to move to another hotel at that point (Keereen Resort❤️) and were ecstatic with the choice we made. We also stayed at Vacation Village on Ao Nang, which had very nice staff and awesome location, but the rooms were musty smelling and quite outdated.
we stayed in one bedroom villa and it was spacious and clean
Great hotel!
Fantastic resort on a hill with breathtaking views of the mountains. We had the pool access room and enjoyed the amenity. Food at the restaurant was tasty. The resort is kind of tucked away from the noisy tourist areas so it adds a measure of peace and quiet as well, which we appreciated.
Our room was nice and clean and comfortable. Only issue we came across was our door and keycard reader; when we first arrived, the door would not lock and needed to be repaired, then the following day we came back to our room in the afternoon and the door wouldn't open for us, essentially locking us out. Hotel staff gave us a temporary manual key to use and it took some time to arrange another repair.
My stay at Ao Nang Phu Pi Maan resort was as comfortable and affordable as it can get. I stayed for 7 nights and 8 days. The staff at the reception is extremely helpful and will even go as far as getting you a customised island hopping trip. This was an important as I had come with my wife and a 4 month old baby. The pool is very relaxing and so is the overall experience staying at the resort. Even the deluxe rooms (which we stayed in) had an awesome view of the hills from the balcony. Despite having a baby cot - which the hotel provided immediately after checking in - the room seemed really spacious. If you book well in advance this resort is very affordable and the location is pretty close to most happening hubs, shops and the 7-11 stores in Ao Nang including the beach. There is a shuttle every hour to and from the beach for those who may not be inclined to walk. There's a laundromat right opposite to the lane where the resort is located, since we had a baby with us it was convenient to use the laundromat to wash clothes. There's another laundromat about 250 metres from the first one but it is a bit expensive. There's a strict no smoking policy at the resort so the smokers will have to go out of the resort in to the approach lane to enjoy a cigarette. Also the spread for the buffet breakfast isn't too varied but it is really tasty and there are enough healthy options. Overall, it was a relaxing and pleasant stay and I would prefer staying there again.
