Idyllic Resort
Pros:

Took time to read the reviews and settled in Ocean Point as a resort because we wanted to ‘fly and flop’.
Yes there are a few things that can be improved but 99% of the staff were great, food on the whole very good, accommodation spacious and clean and you didn’t have far to travel from the airport - and you don’t hear any planes!
Not much to walk to, other than a small area with a couple of shops, restaurants and a chocolate shop but worth the stroll.
I don’t know the names of all the staff but thanks Rosanna for recognising a birthday on the day of arrival and to Selwyn and Jessica who looked after us so well at meal times.
Yes it’s 3 star but we had a great time!!

Just a great place to stay
Pros:

Our first trip to Antigua and we picked Ocean Point after the positive reviews.

It’s a great place to stay and the staff take care of everything and are so helpful.

We hadn’t booked excursions prior to arriving and the reception staff booked everything we wanted to do at very competitive rates.

Food is plentiful and varied and table service instead of a buffet selection was very welcomed.

Location about 10 mins from the airport is great for transfers.

The beaches did have a small amount of weed when we stayed but that was evident on all the beaches we visited as well.

The bar and relaxation areas are never busy, staff in the restaurant cannot do enough for you and our room was spotlessly cleaned every day.

We loved Ocean Point because of the people, it’s a quiet, relaxed hotel with a great vibe.

Yes, we passed bigger and more modern hotels but we know we made the right choice staying here.

Highly recommend.

Returners! We Love It!
Pros:

Losing count of how many times, we have been to this hotel now. Life can be very busy and sometimes complicated, so finding a holiday destination that allows you to relax totally, eat good food, stretch out on a lounger, at anytime without reserving it a 5am. But overall, finding this hotel just minutes from the airport, you relax on checking in. Summarising why we like this hotel, it’s our home from home, but without the chores! But overall it’s the staff, service and smiles, nothing is too much trouble, from the restaurant to the bar, via the beach. Yes, you can go to a large swish, polished six star luxury hotel, but with just sixty rooms, everything is just a few steps away! Great value also.

Pleasant Stay
Pros:

My partner and I booked 10 nights here - we wanted to relax, so didn’t need a smart hotel with entertainment. The hotel is a little dated, so we called it shabby chic. We had a nice ground floor room with a small terrace which opened onto the large pool. The two beaches were lovely, though the water was weedy. There was no shortage of sun beds, but there was the proverbial problem of guests rushing out early to reserve the same spot every day - very selfish! They need the 30 minute rule … The staff were all excellent and friendly. The bar staff were fun, providing unlimited drinks. The food was mostly good, although sometimes luke-warm and not as described. The ‘Special’ Crab Salad contained no crab, the Crispy Fish Burger did not have crispy fish, the Curry Goat had not seen a scotch bonnet, etc. We only ate out once. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Small friendly hotel but….
Pros:

Staying here at the moment. The hotel is small and friendly with good food. The rooms and bathrooms are functional if somewhat dated, although clean and comfortable. WiFi works well. The staff are great however the main problem is no hot water. We haven’t been able to have a hot shower so far. Despite reporting the issue and a maintenance person checking the shower the issue has not been resolved. Such a shame as it’s a lovely little place but this really lets it down.

Laid back
Pros:

On arrival I was a little concerned as the reception area is very dated, in fact the whole hotel is quite dated but that turned out to be a real positive.
I can’t remember staying somewhere that is so easy going and relaxed.
Our room was comfortable.. really great bed. The bathroom was adequate, certainly not the height of luxury but functional. The shower however was a little temperamental. Our room was cleaned and made up every day.. thank you that was a joy.
A couple of days the hotel welcomed cruise passengers on day passes, always a good opportunity to people watch!
Breakfast was really good but I was a little indifferent about lunch and dinner, we were on B&B rate and were able to enjoy some very good local food.
We don’t often watch TV on holiday but access to Netflix on a large high quality screen made it very watchable on the odd night in!!
Would I return.. not sure. But if you want total relaxation in a stunning location I recommend.

Lovely staff, load of sun beds, two nice beaches, comfy simple rooms
Pros:

What a great time we had. Im reviewing this as 5 stars bit in the context of the price we paid.....great value, quiet chilled hotel, friendly staff, loads of sun beds etc.

It has two nice beaches, not massive but great to use. They have a massive pool too....25 strokes long, which I used every day.

It's near the airport so that's great, and you can jump in a taxi to see a more iconic beach if you like.....we did this with Dickenson beach.

Basic accommodations. Hot water issues.
Pros:

Ocean point was easy to get to from the airport. Check in was smooth. Real keys for the room and a warning not to lose them! We had oceanfront cabana. Our room was spacious but the bathroom door did not close all the way. The room was freezing and unless we shut the system off, you couldn’t just adjust it slightly warmer. There was NO hot water. We stayed for 3 days prior to a cruise. We asked at reception multiple times and finally gave up taking cool showers. Safe isn’t digital and needed 2 keys to operate. Nobody to show you anything. Bed was very comfortable.

Note there are no elevators. You have to carry luggage up and down many steps although there are bellman to help. There are steps all around the resort so this is not for those who are mobility challenged.

The food was ok. We arrived on a Wednesday which was Caribbean night. Selections were extremely limited so ended up ordering a $45 lobster. As part of all inclusive you got 20% off. Drinks are very basic with no name liquors. If you wanted a Carib or absolute you had to pay extra. No name sodas which tasted terrible. Frustrating with all inclusive. Breakfast was basic but fine. Pool was nice, lots of loungers. Small beach area with palapa and umbrellas.

Overall it was a basic hotel that I wouldn’t choose to stay at again most notably due to the less than comfortable conditions of the room. I expect hot water or at least acknowledgement and apology.

If you do stay there, take a cab to Bella Vita for excellent Italian food. Also the sunset party at Shirley heights is fabulous.

A lovely, comfortable boutique hotel
Pros:

We've just arrived home after a 10 night stay at the Ocean Spa resort Hotel. The resort is beautiful. It has a lovely feel from the moment you arrive. Its a small hotel but perfect. It has 2 lovely, very clean beaches and a fabulous big pool. Loads of lovely comfy sun beds everywhere and plenty of very comfortable shadey places to sit. The rooms are big, a bit basic but had everything we needed. They're cleaned to a very high standard everyday & were spotless. I liked that they have a water station, so not using loads of plastic water bottles. The one restaurant is under cover but is very open and airy, overlooking the sea...its wooden which has a lovely feel about it. All the staff are friendly. The food is a little bit samey but everything is cooked freshly & to a good standard. Its not a buffet which is nice to be served. A bit more effort/imagination is needed with the puddings... The hotel is a bit isolated. We didn’t find anywhere else close by to walk to. We'd booked on a room only basis & planned to eat out but because there wasn't anywhere nearby we upgraded to all inclusive which is much better value! While away, I had a painful back problem. I had 2 massages with Hazel, shes fantastic! Very, very good & made me feel much better. All in all, we've had a fabulous, tranquil, restful holiday. Which is exactly what we wanted.

So disappointed
Pros:

We were recommended Ocean Point by family who stayed and enjoyed it, and upon arrival, we could see why - the staff are friendly, the hotel is colourful, there's a little beach/cove area, the pools are wonderful, nice looking restaurant etc

However, we were very disappointed with our stay. We realised on the first night that we did not have hot water in our bathroom, and I had to endure a luke-warm at best shower, after which I was shivering and had to stand on our balcony to warm up. We contacted reception and they were proactive in sending an engineer around, but the problem wasn't fixed, and my boyfriend also had to have a luke-warm shower. We stayed for 3 nights and didn't have one warm shower during our entire trip. My boyfriend just had cold showers. We raised this issue every day with reception, a total of four times, and all they would do was send round the engineer, yet the problem persisted. Hot water is a basic expectation for any hotel, and honestly, it made us miserable to not have any, or any real and tangible solution from the staff.

We would have expected, upon the second time of us raising the issue, that the staff would have conceded/realised it was clearly a problem with that particular room, and moved us. This didn't happen, and nor were we offered anything by way of compensation despite raising the issue 4 times. Not even some drinks or a complimentary meal or SOMETHING, let alone a change of room. I would go as far to say it soured the rest of our trip, and we were really, really disappointed.

I sent an email to the hotel once we were back home, and am yet to receive any response, or even acknowledgement, in return, which has necessitated us leaving a review here (which we wouldn't normally do.) Not only was the experience unpleasant, but to not receive any recognition of this is unacceptable.

For this reason, we wouldn't recommend Ocean Point to family and friends. We don't expect anywhere to be perfect, but we do expect hot water and swift rectifying of issues.

The hotel itself is lovely, and the staff friendly - though too cut off for us and we didn't like being limited to the restaurant onsite (there's not really anywhere else within walking distance). This alone wouldn't have put us off staying again, but it was hard for us to appreciate the positives when our time was marred by having no hot water.

Just the break we needed
Pros:

We loved our stay at Oceanpoint. It is in a beautiful setting with two beaches with plenty of sunbeds and shade. I’m not a pool girl so it didn’t bother me that there was limited shade around some of the beds.
Room 205 which looked out to the sea and overlooked the smaller part of the pool was spacious had plenty of room for our clothes and personal items and was cleaned every day. The towels and bed linen were changed everyday and although some people may expect this we find it unnecessary and feel that the option should be in place to not have this done every day. The only negative to the room was the bathroom which as other people have stated needs modernising. Tiny little tiles on the bottom of the shower is not the most comfortable thing on your feet.
The staff were very helpful and attentive. The ladies in reception went over and above to help us when our flight was cancelled home. The restaurant staff were polite, always had a smile on their faces and very accommodating with our requirements. Lots of praise goes to Andy(Anderson) the chef who was always happy to listen to our feedback and he even put noodles on the menu for my father one night. We enjoyed all the food, there were lots to offer with different specials each night. The only disappointing thing was sometimes the veg wasn’t cooked to our liking but perhaps that’s an Antiguan thing! And don’t be expecting cheesecake like you have in England. Not a biscuit base in sight but again we are in Antigua not in the UK. Some of the other desserts were to die for!
We would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyable.
Pros:

10 nights at this lovely hotel. Very relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are good enough, very clean and comfortable bed. Nice beaches and looked forward to seeing the pelicans every day. Resturant was good for breakfast and dinner, nice to be able to order fresh cooked food. However, we did experience long delays some days at lunchtime due to the guests with day passes being allowed in first. We even gave up a couple of times and just ate our own snacks. They also have reserved access to sun loungers and staff fetching their drinks but this didn't affect us. Overall it was an enjoyable stay. The island and the people are lovely.

Had a wonderful time👏🌈❤️
Pros:

We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. Got there early from our cruise ship, extending 3 days in Antigua. Stored our luggage and enjoyed a covered large bed by their huge pool. Room was very nice, large comfy bed, cool air conditioner, nicely plated out. First night ate at an Italian restaurant Mama Mia, next door. Yummy food, excellent view of the sunset. Next night, Sun., at our hotel's restaurant. Most other restaurants closed on Sun. Also excellent, watched waves roll in. Food yummy, service great. After dinner sat on the chais in front of their large bar, enjoyed our drinks, the stars and the ocean. Everybody very friendly and helpful, especially Lania by poolside, who got our drinks for us. We highly recommend👏🌈❤️

Reasonably priced hotel in a good location but in need of a complete refurb.
Pros:

The location of the hotel in relation to a beach is excellent, and also has a large, clean swimming pool, although several tiles were loose and falling off. However the hotel itself is tired, dated and less than average in terms of style and luxury. The rooms are basic and the bathrooms, in need of renovation. Hot water was hit and miss each evening. The doors out to the balcony were old and difficult to open but the view was beautiful. Although there were numerous sunloungers, there was the annoying reserving of the favoured spots with towels each day, often vacant for hours! The restaurant was very busy and the food was average but edible. The entertainment was not for us and we went out most evenings to eat in local restaurants. The staff were very friendly and hard working and very obliging.

Nice pool, clean rooms, excellent staff
Pros:

This resort is close to the airport and provides an excellent quiet location. The resort itself is a bit dated but for the price was an excellent value. The onsite restaurant is designed for the all inclusive customers. We thought the food for the non all inclusive customers was quite high in comparison to other better local restaurants. The pool was very nice but we were a bit put back the cruise customers that arrived daily had better access to the only two shaded cabanas than paying resort customers. The highlight of the stay was the staff. Be aware that strong smelling detergents are used in cleaning the rooms. We asked that they not be used and the staff followed our request. I can honestly say the staff the cleaned our room daily was the best we have ever experienced. The front desk staff was also very helpful. All in all we were very satisfied with our stay.

Disappointing stay – poor service and hygiene standards
Pros:

I found my stay at this resort highly disappointing and poor value for money. There were several significant issues throughout the week that I feel other travellers should be aware of.

Dining and Hygiene The service in the restaurant was inconsistent. While staff were very quick to clear plates—often before I had even finished—it was incredibly difficult to get anyone's attention for a drink. I would like to highlight Matthew, who was the only member of the team with professional manners and serving skills; the rest of the team would benefit from his training.

I found the meal times very restrictive, leading to queues at the restaurant entrance. The "continental breakfast" and "afternoon snack" options were underwhelming, often consisting of just one or two types of items (such as muffins or cold pizza bread). The food was repetitive, and I was concerned to see seafood mislabelled as a vegetarian dish.

Hygiene was a primary concern for me. As an open-air restaurant, the salads and desserts were left uncovered, attracting a lot of flies. I also observed staff handling bread and pastries with their hands rather than using the tongs provided. Most concerningly, I witnessed a member of the kitchen staff tasting food and then returning the same unwashed spoon back into the pans and seasoning containers. Additionally, a dog was regularly permitted access to the food preparation areas.

Bar and Entertainment The bar policy changed during my stay; I was informed I could only take one drink at a time, which was frustrating. The music in the bar area was frequently played at an excessive volume. Despite asking for it to be lowered so I could talk to others, staff would repeatedly turn it back up, which felt more like a disco for the staff than an adult resort atmosphere. Daytime entertainment was non-existent during my week, and the entertainment team seemed largely disengaged from the guests.

Facilities and Rooms The resort lacks sufficient shade; with only 3 or 4 umbrellas at the pool, I was forced to go to the beach to find cover. The rooms are dated and lacked basic modern amenities like bedside plug sockets or USB ports. Storage space was also very limited. Housekeeping was inconsistent with drinking water; some days bottles were replaced, while on others they were removed and not replenished, leaving me with no way to get water from the bar.

Overall, the experience did not meet the standards expected for the price paid. I would not recommend this resort.

Peaceful, warm lovely stay
Pros:

Quiet adult only relaxing place to stay. Incredibly kind and helpful staff made this stay a delight. The hotel is fairly small with the entrance around the base of a disused sugar windmill. No lifts and steps everywhere might give people with mobility issues a problem but not us thankfully. We had an issue with poor water pressure in the shower but were able to move to the room next door which was perfect and organised by the ever friendly staff. No fighting required for the sun loungers around the pool or on the small private beach. There is a small spa in the grounds but did not appear to be used during our stay. Food was good and adequate in the restaurant which has open sea views and the tables are served. A slightly more varied menu might be a small improvement. All inclusive meant the bar was a pleasure and the bar staff only added to that. The small bay in front of the bar and restaurant was used daily by feeding Pelicans, Turns and Frigate birds providing all day entertainment
All round a great and thoroughly recommended place to stay

Pros:

On holiday with my husband. First visit to antigua we stayed at this hotel for two weeks. All the staff were most helpful and always happy to help you especially in the restaurant, I could not fault anyone of them. Special thanks to Pepito who helped my husband on many occasions while we were there, my husband fell over on the first day of our holiday in St John's and damaged his hand badly. The food was cooked for you and the menu had specials on every day. The rooms were clean and the bed linen was changed each day. The only thing I would emphasise, is that there are quite a few steps down from the main building to the pool and restaurant, so guests with mobility problems may find these difficult.

Underrated as a 3 star - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pros:

Booked this as part of a package holiday with Virgin Holidays.

The hotel is advertised as a 3 Star however do not be put off by this! The draw for us was it being adults only (16+), a l carte restaurant and no specific dress code (who wants to wear trousers for dinner in the Caribbean 😂)

Check in was very personal and informative and is completed via a QR code. The rum punch was a nice touch.

Ocean Point has a traditional Caribbean feel, rustic, bright colours and very relaxed, we had an ocean view cabana room. It was spacious, well presented and had a huge balcony with great views. The room was cleaned to a good standard daily and had a very comfy bed. The towels within the room varied in condition and were not always the greatest. The shower head in our room had been replaced with a pressure shower head so for us we had no pressure issues as reported by other guests.

Breakfast offers a continental Buffett and a cooked to order choice for hot. Breakfast was always well presented, tasty and served with a smile.

Lunch is ordered from the lunch menu, lots to choose from as well as the daily special. It was nice to have lunch on the high tables within the bar which the staff were more than happy with when we asked.

Dinner, the restaurant is advertised as Italian however the Italians dishes are limited. The starters are more Asian and became quite repetitive. Lots of choice for main course but again very few Italian dishes. The Jerk Chicken is good but if you are expecting it to be traditional and hot then think again. When ordering we asked for the chef to make it hotter which he did!

The hotel has a good selection of drinks and cocktails but it was disappointing to see that Carib was chargeable and not included in the All Inclusive.

The hotel pool is massive and we never struggled to find somewhere to sit, we loved the quietness as the hotel has no daytime entertainment or music at the pool.

There is a choice of 2 beaches and again both have ample beds. The beaches are clean and tidy with staff seem to be clearing glassware regularly.

With the exception of the weekly Caribbean night and a band on a Friday there is no evening entertainment, this was another draw for us. If you are expecting live acts daily then this is not the place for you!

We had a great stay and the hotel delivered on what it offered, what makes it great is the staff… thank you to the following:-

Bar - Andre & Quamie

Restaurant- Selwyn, Markie, Kerry-Ann, Caroline, Alisha and Shania

My only gripe was that the hotel offers/sells day passes to cruise ship passengers but doesn’t seem to staff for these. It wasn’t everyday (luckily) however this meant that hotel guests suffered due to lack of space at lunch and long queues at the bar!
