⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This beautiful and historic Edgartown inn is the ONLY direct waterfront resort on Martha’s Vineyard. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! Right on Edgartown Harbor the views are breathtaking. The center of Edgartown is just steps away - featuring 20 + restaurants, entertainment, shopping, galleries, bookstores, movie theater, fishing pier, historical sites, preserved whaling-era architecture, lush gardens, stunning waterfront views, beaches, a museum, bus transit and all the activities this charming village has to offer.
The grounds are gorgeous - impeccably maintained with beautiful, colorful flower gardens and a crystal clear, outdoor heated pool, a BBQ patio with 5 gas grills plus outdoor café tables/chairs with umbrellas for outdoor dining, 3 mesmerizing harbor-front firepits, and an expansive sundeck with amazing views of the pool, the gardens, & Edgartown Harbor. The sundeck has rocking chairs and tables & chairs for snacks, drinks, games, & socializing with others. Weekly activities include yoga, live musical entertainment, trivia nights, karaoke nights, Fri night JAWS movie by the pool, s'mores at the firepits, plus evening cookies & milk in the lobby. Off the lobby is a lovely great room / guest lounge overlooking the harbor and in the small fireplace room has a computer corner with a printer.
All the buildings have recently been renovated to ensure an upscale, luxurious experience. Rooms are immaculately clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated with fridges, free wi-fi, flat screen cable smart TV’s, Keurig machines, and A/C or heat.
There is a free parking lot -but it is 1/3 of a mile walk down beautiful, historic South Water St.
The staff and management are exceptional and work incredibly hard, all following the same vision & professional ethic and truly excel in the art & science of HOSPITALITY. These wonderful people deliver the highest level of customer service, bending over backwards to fulfill guests’ every little need and request. The HSI team are genuinely friendly & gracious, extremely accommodating and pay exquisite attention-to-detail, making each and every guest feel welcome, comfortable and at home.
They have become like family over my 21 years of vacationing at the Harborside. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EACH OF YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!
Here are the drawbacks that you may want to be aware of:
WARNING - there are no elevators. The Ripley and Main Buildings may require 2 sets of stairs! (But you can have the Bell Staff bring your luggage up & down.)
The smallest rooms are extremely small. Some of the rooms have very small bathrooms & narrow showers. Some of the rooms have very small closets.
The Harborside Inn is very pricey, but are actually competitive compared to all the other lodging on an outrageously expensive island.
I love the Harborside and can’t recommend it highly enough!!!
It is a beautiful, relaxing resort/oasis. The staff will make you feel so welcome, comfortable & “at home” that you will never want to leave!!!
The Inn was just lovely. Our room was beautifully decorated and our bed and the bedding were sooo comfortable. The location was excellent! The extra amenities like hot coffee in the lobby, fresh cookies each night, complimentary water bottles and turn down service added to the experience. Would 100% recommend. A great experience.
Gorgeous view of the water
Great location not far away from the bus stop.
Excellent front desk staff.
Very clean and comfortable.
Beautiful view
All good except we had trouble making room comfortable with AC. Either damp or too cold.
Perfect location.
Wish we didn’t hit the rain but were able to take a wonderful walk on the beach the morning we checked out
Very cozy
The room that we reserved at this property was perfectly sized. The massive bed made for a nice place to lay our head down after long days out in Martha's Vineyard. Although our room faced the street, there were enough shades to shield us from the sun/outdoors and we never experienced loud noises from the street while in the room.
Great location
Beautiful property!
Hotel staff was wonderful. Only issues where the parking is 1/4 mile away. This place could get 5 stars from many
If it would provide valet. Would think the staff would check the dehumidifiers in the room to dump out the water when they are getting full but instead was woken up at 2am to a beeping sound to empty it.
Beautiful
We loved the view and the Adirondack chairs near the dock. Beautiful and relaxing place to stay.
Mom/daughter quick 2 night trip-our room on 1st floor of the Ripley House was really nice! However, major issue in safety/ lack of service when we were woken up at 9am to a strong smell of something burning and pounding on our door that there was a fire! No fire alarm went off.We hurried out in pjs/no shoes, thkflly grabbed rollaways. Smoke coming out of window below our room. Fire dept came, An hour later w NO INFO or assistance from staff, we decided that we were not going to waste time waiting around-we used the lobby bathroom to wash/change, left bags w front desk. We returned couple hrs ltr, told by front desk the fire dept said ok to go bk in. We opened our room to cloud of smoke & awful smell. I returned to front desk, asked if they planned on airing out rooms of lingering smoke/smell- said yes. We used the lobby bathroom again to change in our suits went to Chappy Island for the day- returned at 5pm thinking enough time. There was a strongorange smell in foyer but our room still smelled bad so I opened up two windows, ceiling fan/ac to try to circulate the air. We left soon as we changed for dinner. When returned, bathroom really smelled so kept door shut, we slept w windows open/fan/ac which was not great bc loud, and freaked out being level to street with windows wide open. Checked out in the AM. Asked manager if offering discount due to all the above issues. She said no, the fire dept said it was fine to go bk in. that was that, not even a sorry, she just walked away
The location and the professionalism and courtesy of the staff make this a very special place. Every amenity and response time was extraordinary well executed to enhance our experience. Being in the epicenter of Edgartown, on the ocean, rooms surrounding the pool, fire pits for evening gatherings, and a 5 minute walk from to a wide variety of great restaurants from gourmet to snacks and ice cream…as well as historic sites, make the hotel an ideal choice for couples, solo visitors and families.
Friendly staff and generally well maintained. The property does seem a bit dated, plenty of visible patch and paintwork in the rooms, etc.
So many activities and fun engagement for families with young kids. Super easy walking distance to anything in Edgartown. Parking is a bit of a walk away, but not terrible as long as the weather is nice.
Biggest turnoff would be the noise for any rooms on the Main Street side, as the Wharf Bar and Pub is insanely loud until nearly 1 AM. But without knowing exactly what building/position your room is in from 3rd party booking sites, this might be a bit of a gamble.
Fantastic location right in the heart of Edgartown. Beautiful views of the harbor. Rooms were clean and fresh and the common spaces and pool were great. Staff was lovely and friendly. We would stay at the Harborside again.
Beautiful and clean property. We felt safe and comfortable. Convenient location to the shops and restaurants. We wish they provided a shuttle to and from the parking lot which is quite far away. We would suggest a few extra touches for younger guests such as kids sized slippers and robes in the rooms and perhaps a welcome gift such as a little book. We loved that they did a kids club event each day from 3-5p and offered s'mores each night at 7p. Heating the pool would be great.
Best state! And Best experience. We will be back next summer :)
