Pros:

When we arrived for 5 nights, the receptionist said that they had no record of the booking from Expedia! I produced my hard copy of the reservation. We were able to stay for 2 nights only as the hotel was busy, and had to find another hotel for 3 nights.
Unfortunately this is the second time that a reservation with Expedia in 6 months was not recognised by the hotel. Our previous problem was with Polwaththa Ecolodge in Sri Lanka in February 2025 and that was fully paid! The hard copy was important.
After 20 years of using Expedia, I am very unhappy with them as they are seriously slipping up!

Hotel La Semilla is a comfortable, bespoke hotel, which is a bit dated, needs a makeover and is in the lively centre of Playa del Carmen.

Dies ist ein charmantes Boutiquehotel.

Es besticht durch geschmackvolle Zimmer, sehr bequeme Betten und ein fantastisches Frühstück im Garten.

Lärm dürfte überall in Playa del Carmen ein Problem sein, so hört man auch hier den Lärm vom Restaurant nebenan. Mit Ohrstöpseln lässt sich das aber gut lösen.

Not A Relaxing Stay

The hotel is lovely and the staff was nice, but it was not a good experience. My room was unpleasant. My bathroom (toilet) didn’t work.

There was also a problem on arrival. I had a terrible time finding the place because the hotels.com listing had no proper address. The cab driver who has worked here for decades had never heard of this tiny place. I ended up dropped me a mile away (where the dot on google maps was) after midnight and a long day of travel. Addresses are strangely nonspecific in Playa, but one would think the management could make sure their address showed correctly on Google and Apple maps. It was a pain.

Superbe literie , bien placé à côté de l’aéroport tout en ayant une belle piscine pour se relaxer de son vol. Proche embranchement autoroute ! Petit bémol rien pour dîner après 21.30 et aucun restaurant autour !

It is very traditional, unique and eco-friendly property. Lovely decor in an amazingly beautiful structure. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was delicious, eating surrounded by nature.

Pros:

awesome experience from beginning to end. even though this hotel doesn't have a swimming pool, we enjoyed the room very much. didn't use the rooftop terrace. breakfast on both days were excellent. beautiful backyard court.

Was a lovely property with beautiful quaint decor. We loved the location. The bed was comfortable and the ac was a life saver in the playa del Carmen heat. The breakfast was the best part! we would recommend!

The concept of the hotel is very unique and special! There’s so much peace around and the service and concept of the breakfast is fantastic! If you are looking to connect with nature this is definitely the place to stay. The only thing is that the front desk staff should be a little bit more friendly and warm so it could match the concept of the hotel

solo el tamaño de la habitación pero pésima recepción, el cuarto sucio, no tienen teléfono en las habitaciones para hablar a recepción, aire acondicionado viejo y sucio, lo quieren hacer muy vintage, los productos de aseo personal pésiimos no se por que Marriot los aceptó como parte de sus hoteles. Todo se ve viejo y percudido, cero medidas de seguridad anti covid, los de recepción ni siquiera con mascarillas, no hay gel antibacterial. Quieren hacerlo como un hotel boutique de alta gama per lejos, Mucho ruido. El agua de las jarras de dudosa procedencia vs agua embotellada y si lo quieren hacer disque ecológico también hay botella embotellada en botellas de vidrio.

I stayed at this property in September without knowing a thing about it. After that 1st night I was so pleased with the staff and hotel itself that it was my 1st selection when I returned to Playa Del Carmen in December. Privately owned with the owner on site and very closely located to all the shopping and beach action you could want but on a very quiet and safe side street so you can sleep.
Breakfast is a must here. It’s in the back of the courtyard and all kinds of wildlife come to visit each morning. AAA
