Hôtel la Couleuvrine

Stayed here a few nights with a group of friends. This is a nicely located hotel three or four minutes walk into the town centre. There is lots of parking immediately opposite. Being an old building brings with it lots of character as well as rooms being scattered about over several floors. There is a very small lift, thankfully, that will take guests up to the 1st and 2nd floors. Many rooms however will still require climbing some steps. The rooms vary in size and shape. The first room allocated was itself divided on two floor levels, with a step between, but reception were most helpful and provided an alternative. Although in the annex and smaller, it was perfectly fine. All bedrooms appear to have modern bathroom fittings and were very clean and nicely maintained. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style and, perhaps a bit unusually, included a hot selection as well as continental. Our party took evening meals together in the hotel which was nicely served and to most people’s taste. The hotel's restaurant is popular with local groups for evening party meals. Vegetarians were catered for. Nice selection of local wines from the small bar area. While sadly there is no hotel lounge, the hotel does have tables and chairs immediately outside which makes for a pleasant area for an evening drink in pleasant weather.

Really frustrated we ended up in a room not in the main hotel, we were not informed this was the case when we booked, if we had been we would have cancelled. Very dark and small, the room went straight onto the street, above the kitchen so noisy till late, mould on the bathroom ceiling. When we queried the fact we were not in the hotel, we were told we should of had a message to tell us this, we didn’t receive this, no apology, just that all the other rooms were booked a year ago? Odd explanation, no reaction to us stating there was mould on the bathroom ceiling, just carried on charging us the tourist tax. It’s a pity, as it’s in a good position and the rest of the hotel looks nice.

Super emplacement en centre ville, très joli. Les moins : petit-déjeuner pas compris, pas de parking, et pas de clim !

Un hôtel situé au très bon endroit de Sarlat
Un début difficile avec une chambre toute petite dite standard, le lit est à 50 cm de la porte qui elle même est face a l’ascenseur.. une très belle terrasse qui ne suffit pas… pour autant un service client réactif et à l’écoute puisque le lendemain changement de chambre climatisé, plus spacieuse et très au calme. Ont le sens du service et cela a été très apprécié et a permis de nous faire passer un très bon séjour à sarlat.

This hotel has a reputation for hit or miss, we ended up in a terrible room. Room 29 for reference. It is an annex room.over the kitchen. The extractor fan of which empties cooking fumes on to the dirty terrace.
On arrival we had a curt welcome, on the street, to the shortness of this is your room.
We went out for a drink and came back to a patio now with with other peoples disgarded beer bottles.
The door of our annexe room could not be locked from the outside and only with great difficulty from the inside.

We were visiting family and wanted a hotel within walking distance of restaurants and bars. This hotel fits that perfectly. We were in the Main Street market on Saturday morning within minutes.
The initial greeting was friendly.
Our room was on the 2nd floor, accessed by a tiny lift. The room itself was reasonably sized with a modern toilet and bathroom worked well into the old building.
The only downside was no air con, but we were able to leave the window open and the fan on.
The bed was comfortable with plugs on the bed side tables.
We met friends for lunch on the Saturday and ate outside. The fixed priced menu was excellent and well priced.
We will return next year.

We really enjoyed our stay at La Couleuvrine. We loved that the building is an old rampart tower from the 15th century, and we got to stay at the very top! We loved the atmosphere of the place -- it fit in perfectly with the town. The location was perfect. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast good, the room comfortable and fun. We had a car and did pay the 15 euro a nice for a nice safe gated parking area about a 5-10 minute walk away.

What a fantastic stay in Sarlat-la-Canada! Beautiful Hotel with great, really friendly and helpful staff and the best dinner I have had in France!

Très bon accueil, une petite chambre avec une bonne literie mais beaucoup de poussière

Enjoyed 2 nights there.
Elevator is very small but works well. I requested a room by elevator for a knee issue and received it.

Steps to medieval town, good restaurants.
Laundromat across street. Excellent. Good dryers.

Parking was 10 minutes away for us. Husband was ok with it.

Nice and welcoming staff. The room was a bit small and a lot of stairs to get to it, but it was clean and comfortable.

Nice few days in Sarlat. Driving around countryside was fun. Wish we’d had more time to visit the Dordogne Valley.

The hotel and the staff were incredible. I will always stay here when I'm in Sarlat. Also, I highly recommend eating at the restaurant whether you are staying at the hotel or not.
