Breakfast is deceptive and terrible
Pros:

WARNING - Hyatt's breakfast is not continental!!!!! The breakfast is marginal at best. It is set up as a continental, self-serve breakfast I.e. make your own waffle, yogurt from a large bowl with toppings, artificial scrambled eggs, etc. The deceptive part is they ask for your room number. I thought this was odd so I went to the front desk only to find out they charge $11.00 per person. There is no signage at the front desk or at the breakfast area! Shame on Hyatt - purposely deceptive to make money!

Great location for hotel, convenient, easy to access parking. Comfortable and clean rooms.
Pros:

Location of the hotel is good; right in central downtown Champaign, IL. Ambiance of the hotel feels a little outdated when first walking in. Very convenient round-about entrance to access their parking garage ($15 per night if you park in the hotel garage).
Room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and was quiet. Recommend higher floor rooms, if possible.
Breakfast was a little lackluster. I think this hotel should offer complimentary breakfast for all guests, no matter the room rate they pay, like all other Hyatt Place hotels.
Wi-fi in room stopped working on the second night, and couldn't access the Chromecast on TV through the World of Hyatt app.

Great place, wonderful staff, convenient location.
Pros:

Convenient for my needs. Wonderful rooms and very helpful, friendly staff

Cons:

Being a tech-challenged person — had troubles with TV and no helpful instructions available. However, staff came to room and helpfully got things working. Also learned all TV’s would be replaced with newer, more user-friendly versions. Hopefully, problem fixed for people like me.

Fantastic Downtown Stay With Outstanding Staff and a Strong Breakfast
Pros:

Hyatt Place Champaign/Urbana delivered an excellent stay from start to finish. The location is unbeatable right in the heart of downtown Champaign, with easy walking access to restaurants, bars, and anything you might need. I navigated the area effortlessly, and it really added to the convenience of the trip.

My room was clean, modern, and very comfortable. The layout with the sofa seating, large TV, and good workspace made it easy to relax and get things done. Everything felt well‑maintained and up to the standard I expect from Hyatt Place.

The staff deserves special recognition. This might be one of the friendliest teams I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. Every interaction was warm and helpful, and it genuinely elevated the stay.

Breakfast lived up to its reputation as one of the better Hyatt Place offerings. The quality and freshness were great, and the variety was solid. It did get a bit crowded, but that’s understandable given how popular the hotel is with UIUC visitors and families.

Wi‑Fi was fast and reliable, which I always appreciate. Parking isn’t free, but the garage felt extremely secure, so I didn’t mind the cost as much.

Overall, this is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Champaign. Clean rooms, an amazing staff, strong breakfast, and a perfect downtown location. I’d absolutely stay here again.
